BlueNRG-MS and firmware v7.1

The BlueNRG DK 1.7.0 includes firmware images (V7.1) and API documentation for ''BlueNRG-MS devices.

Can you please explain the differences between BlueNRG and BlueNRG-MS? Other than support for Bluetooth 4.1 in BlueNRG-MS, it is difficult to see any significant differences. Are these the same hardware with different firmware, or different hardware?

Can the firmware in a BlueNRG chip be upgraded from v6.4 to v7.1? Are there advantages in doing so (for example, bug fixes in the later firmware).

Hi Palmer,

The BlueNRG and BlueNRG-MS have a different firmware on a different hardware. Therefore, you cannot upgrade a BlueNRG device with fw v.7.1.

The BlueNRG-MS is a very low power Bluetooth low energy (BLE) single-mode network processor, compliant with Bluetooth specification v4.1, and it supports multiple roles simultaneously.

Hi Graziella,

in order BlueNRG-MS as Maste and keep connection with 3 BlueNRG-MS  slaves, what is the stack mode IFR? Do I have to program also BLE stack?

You should set Stack Mode 3.

In the GUI DK, you can see the window Tools-> BlueNRG IFR window.
