OSCRANGE of option byte is meaningful only when resonator is used?

if 8MHz is used, then which setting is prefered? HS:8-16MHz or MS:4-8MHz?

If 8MHz is used then you should go for MS:4-8MHz.

OSCRANGE is necessary for two reasons:

1. to select the suitable source about the oscillation circuitery when you are using a resonator

2. to set the nominal frequency on other conditions.

Concerning your question you can select HS:8-16MHz or MS:4-8MHz.

Hi Luca,

But isn't it true that since the oscillator driving current is less when you select the option MS:4-8MHz instead of HS:8-16MHz.

In that case though you can use both it is preferable to use MS:4-8MHz.

Thanks
