Hello,

given that the longevity commitment of the STM8 chips has been renewed for another 10 years, is an update planned for the old STVD development environment, which is no longer in line with other similar IDEs and also has some bugs?

Updating the STVD IDE for STM8 to support modern operating systems could have a significant positive impact on the adoption of the microcontroller, especially in Brazil. There is a growing number of complete STM8 and STM32 courses available on platforms such as Hotmart, which indicates strong interest from students and developers. However, the outdated IDE creates unnecessary barriers for beginners, often discouraging them early in the learning process.

Modernizing STVD would improve accessibility, reduce the learning curve, and make the STM8 ecosystem more attractive to new developers, educational institutions, and online training programs. This effort would strengthen STM8’s presence in the Brazilian educational market and demonstrate the company’s commitment to supporting the next generation of developers.

From this post, it doesn't seem that ST are particularly keen to promote STM8...

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.
