Adding soft-start to LDL1117

Hi,

I'd like to use the fixed 3.3V variant of the LDL1117 on my board.  However, I have a concern with inrush current and wanted to add a soft-start if possible.  Can I modify the LDL1117 circuit to add in soft-start (i.e. adding a cap somewhere to control the ramp) or would it be better to add an external inrush limiter such as shown in the following app note:
