Difference in torque generated between L6480 & L6482?

Is there any difference in torque or other performance parameters between the L6480 & L6482?

The two devices use different control methods

L6480 voltage mode

 

pros

 

- High microstepping resolution

- Smoothness

- No shunt resistor

cons

 

- More sensitive to the variation of the parameters and resonances (some of these variations are compensated by the ST algorithm)

- Not suitable for full-step operation

L6482 advanced current control

 

pros

 

- Robustness of the control (closed loop)

cons

- Lower microstepping resolution

- Require the shunt resistor

The output torque you can obtain with the two control methods is almost the same, but the L6482 could have a boost at high speed thanks to the closed loop operation.
