Hold current setting L6472

Hello,

I'm using the EVAL6472H evaluation kit to experiment with the L6472 driver. I'm having trouble with the hold current setting, when is set the hold current to 200 mA for example, only 70 to 100 mA flows through the motor. When i use a higher current setting, more current will flow through the moter. The current flowing through the motor even exceeds the limit, a setting of 500 mA results in a current flow of about 900 mA. 

I checked the TVAL_HOLD (address: 0x09) and it contains the correct, previously written value.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
