STC3115 Questions

Hi Sir/Mdm,

I have few questions regarding STC3115. After implementation, I have noticed that voltage & current measurements are working properly, however the SOC value is never updated. 

1. Is it normal? 

2. Does the STC3115 need to go through a minimum number of charge/discharge cycles before it can update the SOC value? 

3. Is there any triggering events to start updating the SOC value?

Please see answers below:

1. Is it normal? 

No, this is not the normal behavior. 

The SOC is the most important expected information from a fuel gauge.

2. Does the STC3115 need to go through a minimum number of charge/discharge cycles before it can update the SOC value? 

No, the first SOC is available after 2s.

3. Is there any triggering events to start updating the SOC value? 

No. But this issue usually arise when the gas gauge is not running properly. 

It could be because the pin BATD is floating, avoiding the gas gauge to start the battery monitoring.

Once the hardware issue is resolved, it is then recommended to use ST open source driver to initialize properly the device and run it.
