Question

FOC motor run but RPM does not increase after certain limit, how to increase output power?

hi st community,

I am using NUCLEO-G431RB control board and STEVAL-IPM20B power board, generate the code using st-workbench. the board is connected with 1kw PMSM motor of 3000rpm.

Motor run fine up to 1200 rpm but rpm not increase after that, at that point the motor output power showing 200 W on monitor dial.

st work bench monitor screen has power dial of maximum 200W, is that limit or what? the power board capacity 2000W.

how can I achieve the full RPM with increase in output power.

thanks,

Hello,

From the top of my head, the parameters that can limit the speed of your motor are :

  • The Bus voltage. Are you sure that your DC Bus voltage is aligned with your motor's characteristics ?
  • Is the Nominal current configured in your motor parameters aligned with your motor's characteristics ?
  • Finally, could you share the Max Modulation percentage value available in the "Analog Input Protection" window inside the "sensing" Box.

A percentage less than 95% will limit the maximum speed.

The 200W is a monitor limitation, not a real constraint.

Regards

Cedric

thanks cedric for reply,

  • modulation percentage is 96%
  • again tune the DC bus voltage and nominal current for motor

the maximum RPM increase from 900 to 1050 then there is no further increased.

what are the other cause for limitation.
