What is the package protocol for communicating with the STEVAL -SPIN3201 via USB or directly to USART?

If anyone has an example of how they communicated with the STEVAL -SPIN3201 motor controller that they can share, I would greatly appreciate it. The chip used on the board is a STSPIN32F0, and it communicates on USART configured as an interrupt. I have the workbench software working with it just fine, but I'd like to communicate with it using a serial port. Thank you for any help you can offer.
