How to get board to connect to gateway with end node code

I am working with a stm32 nucleo pack and I was using the end node code example. Our gateway is set up perfectly fine and running and we now have a working node that prints time outs on the CLI . How do we get the board to connect to the gate way? is there a setting im missing in the code?
