I'm using one 16 bit DDR3L chip with STM32MP153 MPU. My PCB has 16 layers so there is enough routing space. Is it better to use series termination which will increase the distance between MPU and DDR or without termination and short connections?

I suspect the purpose of the series resistance is to stop the short lines ringing/reflecting
