Posted on May 09, 2018 at 12:39Viper26 - Output Voltage drop also on light load Hi everyone,I've used the eDesigneSuite tool to draw a buck converter. Specs are simple: Input Voltage: 185~265 Volts, Output Voltage: 4.5 Volts; Output current: 0.4 Ampere using the Viper26LN.The attached picture show also a limit to the current at ~500mA (just to be avoid saturation in the inductance).I've built the circuit using the BOM provided.With very light load (0.5 ma) the output is of 4.5 Voltage. As soon I start to increase load (i.e. 35ma), the output voltage drop around 3.6 Volts, but the voltage after the diode D2 is at 4.5 voltage.Increasing the load up to 300mA, gives the same results: current is stable, and also the output voltage, but at a lower value, leaving the voltage stable at 4.5 (and so a perfectly regulated 3.3 voltage) for the FB pin.I think the viper stuck in burst mode, also if the load increase.Looking with the scope, I can see a the 'single pulse' on the inductor increase the

This part DC is  2014. if there is any revision of this part after 2014, so, it may caused by this problem, I want to know how i have to do using this part,  please help me #stpm34

Posted on May 06, 2018 at 22:53Hi everyone!I'm working right now with STPM33, understanding how it works and aiming to build an smart meter. I've been reading the documentation realted to the IC and also with the board i'm using EVALSTPM33. Using the evaluation software i can get the values i'm measuring:Laliwala.Mehul‌ has already a post in which he asks something similar, but no one answered yet. I've used an excel sheet in order to convert the values in the registers but i still can't get the correct values.Can anybody explain to me how to convert the values on the registers to the real values shown in Evaluation Software? I attach my excel.Thanks in advance!

Posted on November 06, 2017 at 21:07Currently, I am evaluating STPM3x, but having hard time understanding how to convert register value to floating point signed integer values.I can calculate voltage and current rms values, but I am trying to convert apparent power  (reg. 90) , active power (reg. 84), and reactive power(reg.88).Any examples would be helpful.  Datasheet is not clear.Thanks in advance! 

Posted on May 02, 2018 at 18:26We are using the STC3117 connected to QCom msm8909 SoM booting into Android and are having problems getting it to start up correctly.Once the battery is connected to our device it will never be removed, so we have tied the BATD pin to ground.We are using the Driver found https://github.com/st-sw/STGasGaugeLinuxDrivers(link to GitHub).I have added in debug messages to the driver and it looks like the check for battery presence in GasGauge_Task() is coming back 1 (not present).This basically keeps the STC3117 in a restart loop.I have attached a screen shot of all my debug messages (registry values and basic progress).Besides connecting BATD to ground is there anything else that needs to be done to get the STC3117 to 'see' the battery?#stc3117 #startup-problem

Posted on April 27, 2018 at 04:00Hi,I'd like to use the fixed 3.3V variant of the LDL1117 on my board.  However, I have a concern with inrush current and wanted to add a soft-start if possible.  Can I modify the LDL1117 circuit to add in soft-start (i.e. adding a cap somewhere to control the ramp) or would it be better to add an external inrush limiter such as shown in the following app note: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slyt096/slyt096.pdf ?Thanks!Matt

Posted on April 17, 2018 at 16:36Hi,I got the STEVAL-ISA164V1 board from Digikey.As far as the datasheet and online material shows, its an STNRG family of digital controller. Also, the IC mounted on the board is STNRG388A but when i open ST SMED configuration tool i'm unable to connect the board in STNRG category. The board connect successfully in STLUX385A category but i can't run any SMED. When i tried to connect the board using GUI software, it get connected but i can't see any Registers to manipulate.I only see the Register restoreAfterReboot.Secondly, when i tried to update the firmware of the board using en.stsw-stluxdev01 tool, its also not recognizing the board. I'm attaching the screenshot of error i get every time. (I'm giving the correct COM port shown in Device Manager). We have used this one before in another product, worked fine.We use the driver from https://community.st.com/external-link.jspa?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fst-sw%2FSTGasGaugeLinuxDrivers The stc3117 actually seems to be measuring current and voltages properly, but they appear in avg current register(Reg 11 and 12) and for voltage in ocv registers(Reg 13 and 14). The values seem to be fairly accurate - current calculated is ~800mA when stress running apps while battery is discharging. Also ocv regs report 4.1V, decreasing continuously. Why do regs 0-7 and 9-11 always read 0. Reg 8(voltage) reads 0x80, but looks incorrect. The driver makes use of these registers.For eg reg 0 and 1 ought to have some default values, but i read all 0. Posted on April 10, 2018 at 15:56I'm trying to use the STEVAL-IPE016V1 to get a basic knowledge of the STPM10 chip that i would like to use for an energy meter design. Unfortunately the board was shipped with a faulty connection on the R7 resistor(this is one of the 3 resistors used for the the voltage divider of the voltage measurement path). After resoldering the resistor the connections seemed to be fine but the voltage measurement is really bad.I've attached a picture of the raw voltage values from the registers plotted from a serial port. In the same picture you can see the current measurement working without a problem.I've compared the results with an oscilloscope and there the voltage doesn't have any problem.Is it possible that the floating Vp pin due to the faulty connection could have resulted in a damaged input? or am i missing something obvious that can lead to this results?

Posted on March 08, 2018 at 10:10HiI am using IHM08M1 board with stm32f302, to drive a bldc 36 volts BLDC motor. I am using SixSTep library (SPN8). I need very low speed in my project like 1 rpm. The motor has a 100:1 reduction gear. The minimum speed I got with Sixstep library is 300 rpm. If I set target speed below 300 rpm, motor stops or became unstable. Is there any way to achieve 100 rpm speed, with some modification in the library. I am driving motor in sensorless configuration, the motor have hall sensors, but the library does not include any hall sensor interface Is there any other version of sixstep library with hall sensor interface?Best regards.#spn8 #low-rpm-bldc-drive #hall-sensor #6step-library

Posted on April 03, 2018 at 04:41The L9907 datasheet states that I/O is 3.3V logic compatible.  It also states that I/O pins can withstand voltages up to 35V in the 'Absolute Maximum Ratings' section on page 17.  I was wondering if it were wise to have a PWM 5V logic signal coming into the L9907 3-Phase Gate Driver interfacing with 5V PWM from MCU.

Posted on January 18, 2018 at 23:26I'm using a STEVAL-SPIN3202 to control a 15W BLDC sensorless motor. I'm unable to spin a motor using six-step driving mode and I'm assuming it's because the motor's configuration needs to be updated. Looking at the #defined MC_SixStep_param_32F0.h configuration file the only motor parameter that I can find is the number of pole pairs. Is there an additional configuration file for the motor? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Posted on June 22, 2016 at 00:19I am trying to find the correct value to send to the speed register. The manual says: The SPEED register contains the current motor speed, expressed in step/tick (format unsigned fixed point 0.28). In order to convert the SPEED value in step/s the following formula can be used: Equation 1 [steps/s] = (SPEED * 2^-28)/tick where SPEED is the integer number stored in the register and tick is 250 ns. The available range is from 0 to 15625 step/s with a resolution of 0.015 step/s. Lets say I want to go 15000steps/s.  Using the above equation I find that SPEED = 1006632. My question now is what do I do with the fixed point value given.  I think that I multiply the above value by .28 to get 281856 and send it to the L6472 chip, but I am not sure. #l6472 #register #fixed-point

Posted on March 10, 2018 at 13:49Hello,I am in the process of developing a custom sensored BLDC driver board using STSPIN32F0A IC. The motor used to develop this board is very small and uses less than 10W of power. For now, the lab power supply is set to 2A current limit and a voltage of 7.4V to simulate a 2 cell LiPo battery. When accelerating the motor very fast, the voltage drops and this trips the undervoltage protection of the chip thus stopping the motor and the LDO regulator. This isn't a board issue since it also occurs on the STEVAL-SPIN3202 board. This situation may occur in real applications where the LiPo battery is undersized or it has a low charge. Since the gate driver voltage is the culprit here, can it be supplied externally to the VREG12 pin from another source? Does the IC support different power supplies for the motor and gate driver sections when using a 2S battery? I can only find a reference to connecting it to VM but

Posted on January 26, 2018 at 17:45Greetings!After some time experimenting with the STEVAL-SPIN3201 Motorcontroller board, we took it a step further and build our own little PCB with the STSPIN32F0, three power half bridges and an additional Bluetooth chip for external communication (the final goal is the wireless control of two seperate Motors using one joystick). We pretty much build our board very closely to the schematics of the evaluation board, so that the existing software will run on the custom board just as good as before; the only difference being the shunt resistor values on the three motor phases (2x 0.01 Ohm in parallel instead of 2x 0.02 Ohm in parallel). I adapted the software by altering the 'RSHUNT' value in the 'Power stage parameters.h' from 0.01 to 0.005. Like stated, the rest of the circuits and components were designed to work exactly like the evaluation board. However, once we connected and tested our PCB, we arrived at a point were none of us knew what to make
