Posted on May 29, 2012 at 05:32Hi,I have a couple of these:http://www.st.com/internet/evalboard/product/250863.jspI am trying to get the on board ST-Link programmer to work with windows XP.I have installed the WinXP SW driver from here:http://www.st.com/internet/evalboard/product/219866.jspAnd I'm having no luck, my board works fine on a Windows 7 machine, and the ST-Link utilty reports my device firmware as ''V1.J12.S0 JTAG Debugger''When I connect the device for the first time (or after deleting it's registry enum), Device Manager shows ST-LINK momentarily as an unknown device, then it vanishes, and only the USB Disk Drive ''STM32'' remai

Posted on May 10, 2012 at 11:11Hi All,I'm having a problem to the micro on my board. I'm using the ST-link debugger to debug the STM32F103ZGT6 over SWD. I'm working with Atollic. It was working fine until today, it worked a few times and I started to get that ''Error in initializing ST-link'' when trying to debug in Atollic. After that, I get this message ''Error in sourced command file:localhost:61234: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.'' in Atollic. I tried to connect to the micro with the ST-link utility and I get this error message ''Can't halt the core''.I would appreciate your help. Thank you.Joel #stm32-stlink

Posted on May 04, 2012 at 10:11Hi all,I want to use the ST-link/V2 to debug my STM32F4 instead of the USB-cable but I've encountered some problems. First of all I connected +5V to the 5V-pin on P2 to power up the card. I then removed the 2 jumpers from CN3 and connected VDD_TARGET, SWCLK, GND, SWDIO and NRST from the SWD connector(CN2) to my ST-link/V2. But when I try to debug(Using Atollic TrueStudio) all I get is ''Connection to target failed''. I've tried different constellations like not using NRST and also trying to use JTAG instead of SWD(then I had to add TDO and TDI) but everything gives the same results... Does anyone have suggestions on what to do to make things work? #st-link #stm32f4discovery #atollic

Posted on April 23, 2012 at 04:29Hi All, I've been playing with a project on STM32VLDISCOVERY board for a while, and I'm trying to move it off eval board.  I wanted to start slow, so I ordered a http://www.proto-advantage.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=2200113 with the http://www.st.com/internet/mcu/product/216844.jsp soldered to it.  Using IAR Workbench and the Discovery as SWD Programmer, I get error whenever i try to connect saying ''Fatal error: Failed to read CPUID for cortex device''. Anybody know what this means?  If I try to program the Discovery board directly it works fine. Pins 19,32,48,64 connected to 3.3V Pins 18,31

Posted on March 13, 2012 at 21:03 I looked at the openocd 0.6.0 scripts and found those for  stlink v/2 interface and stm32f4 discovery.  Does anyone know how would I setup openocd to make it communicate with the stm32f4discovery board via the onboard stlink v/2? I have not found any instructions for this particular setup online. I also noticed that the official openOCD 0.5.0 release does not have these script files in them...only the 0.6.0 versionThanks,halherta #stlink-openocd

Posted on January 30, 2012 at 21:03Hi,     I use Windows and am logged in as a normal user (no Administrator privilege). I cannot program my STM32 Discovery board - I get the error ''No STLink detected''. (If I login as Adminstrator, everything works as expected.) Since it is Microsoft's official stand that proper security practice requires users should not have Administrative rights, I expect ST should update the STLinkUSBDriver.dll to work without requiring Admin privilege. Is this planned ? Is there somewhere I can raise a bug report with ST's development team about this issue ? #st-link-detected-administrator

Posted on January 23, 2012 at 15:03Hi everybody, I'm starting with this STM32VL board, and I don't understand how the micro debugger works: I think in this board there are 2 ARMs .. is it? One is for st-link perform .. (I think it's the STM32F103C8T6), and the other one is the target device of the firmware, the STM32F100RBT6B, is this correct? Is it possible to download the st-link micro firmware? Is it free of charge? Looking at the schematics of the board, it seems not possible to setup a usb comunication between the ARM micro of the STM32VL board and the PC, because the usb connection is not a true usb, it's an st-link connection! So, if I would like to try that board for a usb comunication between PC and micro, i think this is not the right way .. is it better to buy another discovery board? Thanks a lot #st-link-usb

Posted on December 06, 2011 at 15:47I'm triyng to load a .hex or .bin in the STM32 ST-Link Utility, and the app shows me this error message ''File is too big (>1Mbyte)''. I'm using the board STM3240G-EVAL whit the st-ST-LINK/V2 built in. This board has a STM32F4xx processor. #stm32-st-link-utility #st-link-v2

Posted on October 05, 2011 at 15:24I followed the instructions in the UM147 Getting Started. After importing the project, the files & folder show in the IDE but with an ! in the icons. This is the message that usually shows when the link to the folder containing the actual files is not set. The manuals for other Discovery kits mention the need to set the link from the Windows>Preferences>Workspace menu. Is this step not necessary for the F4 kit or is it missing from the Doc. The OS recognizes STLink as a drive (given the letter L:) but:a) The Led does not blink at allb) When I am trying to use ST-Link utility it reports me that ''No STLink detected!''I have looked around and some guys report that I should run this utility with administrator priviledges. I have tried so but there is no difference. I am using Windows 7 64-bit. Please help.  #stlink

Posted on November 08, 2010 at 20:51I have the STM32-Discovery board - it appears to be working, lights blinking, etc. When plugged into a USB port on my Windows XP machine, I can see 3 files that direct my browser to the STM website, i.e. USB communications are working.I have downloaded the Atollic lite toolset. I can build the embedded example. It seems to be working except that it appears that the ST-Link debugger is not working.I have successfully updated the ST-Link debugger to the latest firmware version from the STM website. The process reports successful update i.e. communications via USB is ok.The problem seems to be that when the Atollic TrueSTUDIO gdbserver is launched it reports that there is an ''error initializing the ST-Link device'' and exits.Atollic has not replied to questions - can anyone help? Thanks!
