Recently, I started a post about drift in the static level measurement using the VL53L4CX. I received some directions to continue the investigation, which I followed. I tested the performance by toggling the XSHUT pin as suggested, but it didn’t work. So, I proceeded with testing the drift using the ESP's temperature readings and found some interesting results.Using a fully black plastic bucket with around 10 mm of water, I observed that the drift occurred at two specific times: 8 AM and 6 PM. These times coincide with when the air conditioner turns on and off at the company where I work.The drift is perfectly parallel to the ESP’s temperature variation.I believe the sensor isn’t operating within the correct range during these temperature fluctuations, or it’s not applying the proper correction for them.I’d like to ask: Is there any way to make the correction more accurate, or even fully disable the tem

Hello, I’m working on a project where I have a Nucleo F401RE connected to a 53L8A1 expansion board. I’m able to get the histogram plot with the ToF sensor on the expansion board but am wondering if I will still be able to get it if I use an external trigger with a VL53L8 ToF sensor attached to the expansion board. If anyone knows if this is possible or has done it before, input would be greatly appreciated.P.S. I am also using STM’s custom project, CUSTOM/VL53L8CX_SimpleRanging and I am using the histogram functionality with Example_12_cnh_data.c from their VL53LMZ_ULD folder. Thank you!

Hi!I've been testing the VL53L4CX sensor with its own API. I want to know if I can use the VL53L4CD ULD on my L4CX sensor and achieve the same performance as if I were using a L4CD ULD on the L4CD sensor. Hello ST team,I am using the full API for the VL53L1 TOF sensor, and I noticed that there are two versions of the full library available. One library (en.STSW-IMG015 VL53L3CX_BareDriver_1.2.10) is named vl53lx_api.c, and the other library (STSW-IMG019 VL53L1CB_BareDriver_6.6.18.2652) is named vl53l1_api.c. My understanding is that the library with "vl53lx" in the name should be a universal library that works with all TOF sensors, right? Both of these libraries seem to work with the VL53L1 TOF sensor. Our product aims to be compatible with both the VL53L3 and VL53L1 sensors while saving Flash space. Is there any risk in using the en.STSW-IMG015 VL53L3CX_BareDriver_1.2.10 library to drive the VL53L1 sensor?Thank you in advance for your reply.

Hi everyone: I am working on a project with VL53L8CX Time-of-Flight sensor from Pololu. I integrated it with NUCLEO-H755ZI-Q board over SPI interface based on the example and driver provided in the STMicro en.STSW-IMG040 software package. I configured the SPI3 (MCLK, MISO, and MOSI) on the CN7 to communicate with the sensor. I also have PA4 for SPI3_NSS and PC7 for /PLn signal. The project compiled successfully. However, I believe I am not able to read the registers properly. The firmware reads the "device_id" and "revision_id" from the sensor in the vl53l8cx_is_alive() to determine if the sensor exists. The return values different every time I tried to read. I was able to capture the protocols on the scope, and confirmed the reading values are match with the data shown on the scope. The following scope capture shows the communication:1. Sending 0x00 to address 0x7fff. The yellow signal is for the MCLK, blue for MOSI, purple for MISO, and green for /C

Hii,I am working on a project using the STM32 Smart Presence Detection. In order to run the program and get the detection for the person and get some detection readings which file and what are the steps should I follow? I have extracted the STSW-IM048 file and I have played with the EVK interface and now I am struggling to use this algorithm to implement this system to my robot.

Can the STEVAL-CAM-M0I evaluation board used together with the VD55G0 promodule? ST's marketing material seems to suggest it can, but looking at the schematics of the STEVAL-CAM-M0I the power rails are turned on in the order VCORE first, then VANA, then VDDIO. However, in the VD55G0 datasheet it is mentioned in section 8.3 that AVDD (VANA in the eval board) has to be turned on after VCORE and VDDIO. Is the datasheet outdated? Other sensors like VD55G1 or VD56G3 do not have any power sequencing requirements.

Hi ST team, I"m developing an application of proximity sensors on a robot with VL53L3CX. The robot moves not very fast and we have already implemented proximity sensors with  VL53L0X on it. Now we want to add multi-target capabilities with L3CX chip.The problem is we want higher multi-target distance resolution with the new sensor. With some experiments we found the min detected separation between objects/targets is around 70cm, and as I found in previous questions/posts you only formally support 80cm separation/resolution.  If we don't need long range, for example if 80cm to 100cm is the max range, is it possbile to customize a driver to support higher multi-target/object distance resolution for our application?Thanks in advance.

I have successfully used the STEVAL-EVK-U0l with Windows where I connect the USB cable to my Windows device and interact with it via the free software provided ST, this software being called STSW-IMG501.  I would like to start developing some algorithms on the PC, using the Eval board and USB connection.  These algorithms are OpenCV based and would initially be written in Python.  Since OpenCV and Python work well with webcam type streaming devices and the STSW-IMG501 has a streaming output window, it seems that it should be straightforward to connect that stream as a webcam in Windows.  However, there does not seem to be a simple way to do this, hence my query.  I have tried querying all Webcams in Python both when the EVAL board is connected to the eval software and when not, but neither scenario offers up the device as a webcam. So my question is, can I set up the STEVAL_EVK-U0l to be a webcam on windows, and if so, how?

When calling to clear the interrupt of the sensor I wait for the pin to go HIGH again but it never happens. I follow this flow:set i2c addressset low power configset signal threshold to 5000set sigma threshold to 20set intermeasurment ms to 100 and the timing budget to 80set interrupt threshold to be 1300 and only trigger when below this valuestart rangingThe sensor immediately triggers an interrupt and clearing it does not clear it. It stays low. The interrupt pin has a 10k pull-up. 

Hello, I am encountering an issue with getting my VL53L4CD sensor to begin recording data. I have replicated the provided driver's set up in my own code however, after writing for the sensor to stop ranging in order to set the range timing, the GPIO 1 pin then never begins rising and falling again and instead stays low.  I will attach the link to my code below, if anyone could provide any insight it would be much appreciated. code link  Thanks in advance.Luca

I made a little breakout PCB for it and soldered it, measured resistance between al neighbouring pins, none of them were shorts or open circuits which to me confirms that the sensor was soldered correctly. Hello ST team, I have established communication with the TOF while using the Full library（The example file used is STSW-IMG015 VL53L3CX_BareDriver_1.2.10.） of VL53L3, and I successfully read the ID (which should prove that my I2C communication is normal). However, no matter what I do, I cannot obtain the ranging data. After studying the example program, I realized that I did not connect the interrupt line in my hardware setup (I’m not sure if this is the cause of the issue).My system's power supply is 2.8V.I don’t want to use the interrupt pin to control or retrieve the TOF’s status, as it would occupy an IO port on the MCU.Below are my initialization function, Read function, and the data printed via the serial port. Hello,I am trying to get histograms off of the VL53L8CH sensor. I have the sensor hooked up to an F401 and I'm using the official driver from here: https://www.st.com/en/embedded-software/stsw-img043.html.When I start ranging with the sensor through the driver, it starts sending binary data over the serial port. I believe the format of this data is described in general terms in section 5.8 of the user guide for the sensor (UM3183). But it's not very specific and it would be quite a pain to write my own function to decode the data. I believe the EVK software (from the link above) includes code that reads in this data from the serial port and saves it to a csv and/or numpy array. However the EVK software is pre-compiled so it's not easy to use this code myself. Is there example code for decoding data from the serial port, or can the code used in the EVK softwa

Hi to all.I'm trying the VL53L4CD nucleo expansion board. My goal is to use this ToF sensor to detect a very small change in  distace, starting from about 5 mm.The idea is use this VL53L4CD  sensor to detect if the distace become greater than 5mm. (5 mm could be from 2 to 6. No measurement is necessary).I have read the other posts and I agre than VL53L4CD can't be used for measurement < 7mm (better 10).But can it be used as a  "switch"? Is this VL53L4CD  the correct choice?

Hi,I bought a VL53L1X Breakout board ToF sensor that I want to connect to a Raspberry Pi 3.I need to connect the VIN, GND, SDA and SCL.The documentation shows which pins are what, but it confuses me, as the layout in the documentation seems to be different than the boards itself.Of the 10 pin holes on the board, one hole has a square around it, indiciating that would be pin 1. Across would be pin 2, and then on to the next row for the rest.The square is on the outside column of the board.However in the documentation pin 1 is on the inside column of the board.What is the correct way to connect this?VIN isn't specified on the board, does it have adifferent name?I'm new to all of this, so I'm sorry if I ask the obvious.Any help much appreciated.

HiI am using VL53L4CD for detecting presence of an object at a distance below 300mm. I have considered Examnple4 Ultra Low Power as the base. I am able to get the interrupts when an object comes below 300mm distance as expected.But in this scenario if the object stays at a distance below 300mm I keep on getting the interrupts after a  regular interval.What I want to implement is that I should get interrupt once an object comes below 300mm and once when it goes away. Is it possible to get this functionality?

Hello, I'm trying to measure a static level using the VL53L4CX. The following test shows an unusual drift in the level measured by the sensor. I'm using clean water for the test and a specific tank.I performed the test without any cover glass on the sensor and calibrated the offset (Per VCSEL) using the recommended container. I'm using distance mode long, timing budget on max (200 ms)I also performed a stop and restart every minute for temperature compensation. The only parameter that seems unusual at the moment of the drift is the SPAD count (plot below).This drift doesn’t occur every time I run the same test—it happens occasionally and without any regular pattern. Is there any recommendation? What causes this drift? Should I do something differently?
