Hi, I am using Getsignalrate function inorder to obtain the photon count of VL53L1X sensor. Could somebody tell me what the frequency of the actual signal is, ignoring the I2C and UART communication speed. Or the signal that we get is completely dependent on the communication speed. I want my signal rate to be 1Mhz. Thank u

HiI want to use VL53L1x board sensor for custom application. I wanted to use an external laser source of 940nm and block the onboard laser source. Are there any precautions to be taken for such case?I also wanted to know is it possible to access the raw data such as photon counts/ intensity, could u please show an example?Is it possible to interface this sensor with custom controller boards such as FPGA? 

Hi, I'm trying to create a 4x4 point cloud using a VL53L7CX-Sensor. I already got the x, y and z, but I am not sure if the values are right. My approach:*iter_x = static_cast<float>(kMillimeterToMeter * cos(w * fovPerPixel - kFov / 2.0f - DegToRad(90.0f)) * depth);*iter_y = static_cast<float>(kMillimeterToMeter * sin(h * fovPerPixel - kFov / 2.0f) * depth);*iter_z = static_cast<float>(kMillimeterToMeter * depth);But the points doesn't seem right...Any help would be appreciated!  

Hi all.I'm using a TOF sensor VL53L0X to make a small short range probe. the TOF sensor is not suitable for direct exposure, so there will be a piece of lens to cover the TOF sensor. Now the problem is, in the low-temperature environment, the lens surface will appear fogging and icing, and once there is fogging and icing, the detected distance will be a big error, basically can not be used.I would like to ask the users, have you encountered similar problems and solutions?

Hi, I have implemented the VL53L5CX driver for a Nordic controller, and it works fine. Now, I want to implement the VL53L7CX driver for the same Nordic controller. Can I use the VL53L5CX driver as is, or will I need to make changes? Additionally, are there any hardware modifications required, or can I use the same hardware as with the VL53L5CX?

Hi, I had a query regarding the VL53L0X TOF sensor. Is it possible to block the laser on the board and use an off board laser of same wavelength and get readings from TOF sensor? such as intensity readings only?

Dear ST support,We are planning to replace the VL53L1X with the VL53L8CX. One difference we noticed is that the interrupt line on the VL53L8CX is now a ~100us pulse compared to the VL53L1X where it was active until the interrupt was cleared by writing a register on the sensor.We are using many sensors in our system that share a bus. To simplify routing we use an external GPIO expander which signals the processor in case any sensor set its INT line. Unfortunately this GPIO expander has a limitation which makes it impossible to detect pulsed interrupts from multiple devices if they follow each other in quick succession. So we came up with a couple of options:1. Change the behavior of the VL53L8CX sensor to only clear the INT line upon a command.2. Poll each sensor once we saw an interrupt from the GPIO expander.3. Do HW modifications on our board to help with this issue (e.g. use another GPIO expander).If possible we would like to avoid opt

Hi,I am using VL53L4CX sensors with a custom-made board which uses the STMH755ZI. I am using the library provided by STM to get the sensor measurements.Initially, my tests were done using a Teensy 4.0. At that point, I noticed that a single VL53L4CX sensor takes around 3ms to get data through I2C when using the VL53L4CX library. However, when I switched to the VL54L4CD library, it was much faster, taking around 0.5ms per sensor. This includes all the data that the sensor provides.After that, I moved to the STMH755ZI. Since this is an STM chip, I thought it might be more compatible and faster compared to the Teensy, as the TOF sensor is also made by STM. Contrary to my expectations, the time it takes to read one sensor significantly increased. Using the VL53L4CX library, it takes around 10-11ms to read data for a single sensor. Then I tried the VL53L4CD library and was able to reduce the time to 1ms per sensor.I am working on a project with strict time con

Does anyone know if the VL53L8CX SATEL can be used with an Arduino board (just for testing)? Or ESP32? I've tried the basic wiring I have done for other breakouts, but it doesn't work. If so, please share how it should be wired. Also, I have used very similar code on 1CB, 1CX, and the 4CX. Anyone know if that would work for the L8?

Hello,I plan to use a cover glass on top of a VL53L8CX sensor. I understand that I need to perform a calibration to account for the crosstalk effect. According to the forum and datasheet, this calibration requires using an object with a known reflectance percentage. I have two questions about this process:Can I use a board covered with printing paper, setting the reflectance percentage to 88%, and place it approximately 1 meter away from the sensor for calibration, as suggested in the comments?The datasheet mentions measuring reflectance with "vl53l8 REFLECTANCE_PERCENT." Can I use the value obtained from measuring my detected object's reflectance to calibrate the sensor when the cover glass is applied?Thank you.

Hi all,I'm working on a product that uses a TOF sensor (exact type# TBD) to identify if someone(s face) who is sitting in a chair is present within a certain distance and angle (around 20 degrees). If the right conditions are met the product should be switched on. I'm looking for ways to prevent the product from switching on based on false positives that the sensor receives from static objects when no on is actually present, such as wall, chairs etc. Appreciate your thoughts! 

I am currently trying to perform the Cross-talk calibration procedure, but I am confused because the procedures mentioned in the documents "Proximity and ambient light sensing (ALS) module" and "VL6180X cross talk compensation implementation" are somewhat different.The document "Proximity and ambient light sensing (ALS) module" mentions that the offset needs to be written before performing the measurement, but this is not mentioned in the document "VL6180X cross talk compensation implementation."

Hi,i am using both the VL53L5 and L7 in a quite limited space, where the sensor need to run in the 8x8 continuous mode. Therefore, the thermal design is quite challenging.  So, my question is: what temperature does the sensor specifically deliver with the parameter "silicon_temp_degc"? Can it be assumed to be its junction temperature? If not, can a delta between silicon temperature and junction temperature be estimated?

In the guide to using the VL53L5CX multizone Time-of-Flight ranging sensor it's described that for periodic temperature compensation the function vl53l5cx_set_VHV_repeat_count has to be called.I can't find the function in any header or c file.

How can I permanently write values into the registers of the VL6180x? I tried modifying the loadSettings() in begin(), such as changing the value at 0x0041 to 0x60 and then marking it. However, after repowering, the value at 0x0041 in the VL6180x reverts to 0. Does this mean that the register is volatile memory? Or how should I modify the NVM to write the values I want?Thanks in advance.
