I'm using the example project provided for the VL53L5CX and it works fine with the default 4x4. The `vl53l5cx_init` method within the vl53l5cx_api.c is where I believed it should be configured in this section where I passed in VL53L5CX_RESOLUTION_8X8 to both send_offset_data and send_xtalk_data : I also noted this post which said the buffer should be increased, which did not work. Hi I am developing a commercial footfall counter based on the VL53L7CX and ESP32.The API is (Version : VL53L7CX_1.2.10)I have produced a mockup using the VL53L7CX breakout board.IOVCC is 3.3 voltsI am using the on board regulator for AVDD powered from 5 volts.I2C is 1 MHz.I am using the 4 x 4 resolution.I am only using the Results.distance_mm the rest of the Structure and I2C communication is disabled in the platform.hI have developed a PC app to capture the ranges and visualize the range data.With the sensor facing a blank wall 3000 mm away I am getting a mixture of ranges in the 16 zones with almost 2000mm difference on adjacent zones.I have also found some zones just do not update their range unless you wave your hand in front of the sensor.  This is not a data issue I am receiving the data it just does not change.The worse problem I have is the range on some z

Hey,I have a custom made board/device which is using 4x VL53L4CD Tof Sensors to measure the distance. I have trouble to calibrate the sensors correctly or get correct values from them from time to time. Sometimes it works well - sometimes it does not.What I can see is, that for sensor where the distance is not accurate I am receiving the result status " Signal is below the defined threshold", as described in the datasheet.What exactly does that mean and how can I fix that? What is causing this issue?The signal threashold is set to 5000 and the sigma is set to be 10.I noticed when I am running the offset and xtalk calibration - this issue can disappear but it takes multiple calibration iterrations and sometimes it does not fix the problem. And as well: what exactly is a 17% reflective material!? (as mentioned in the datasheet to calibrate offset and xtalk)

I've been trying to get my VL53L3CX to communicate with my ESP32-S3. I'm using esp-idf and ported https://github.com/stm32duino/VL53L3CX by rewriting the I2C and GPIO code for esp-idf. As far as I can tell, I'm successfully communicating with the VL53L3CX. Hello,We received an EOL status notification for our current sensor VL6180 and I found the VL53L4CD as a substitute for this TOF proximity sensor. We would like to know how long this device will be active, as the VL6180 is now on EOL.Can you also connect us to one of your Field app engineers to discuss further the differences in application between the VL6180V1NR/1 and VL53L4CD? I am looking for the shortest library for the vl53lox. I am using the b-l475e-iot01a1 board and i just need some measures on the vl53lox.I look on github but there are just a lot of files so I would like to know if  a less heavy approach exist . Furthermore , I work on cube mx and cube ide. 

Hi Team, I have P-Nucleo-53L8A1 EVK. This board is connected to PC via micro USB cable. LD1 and LD3 LED's are ON and are red in color. I am trying to use VL53L8CX GUI , but its showing at About window as attached.     'Update ST-Link '  process tried. LD1 was blinking with Red when this process was happening. Hi, I ran into a weird issue initializing a VL53L8CX over SPI where the firmware was seemingly failing to load correctly (the firmware checksum was wrong, and trying to read back some of the firmware from the sensor showed that it didn't match the data that was written). I found that I could get it to work if I increased the SPI frequency from 0.5 MHz to 2 MHz, and the threshold between working and not working seemed to be at around 1.1 MHz. After experimenting a little more, I observed that it didn't seem to be the SPI frequency itself that matters, but rather the time that it takes to download the firmware - for example, it will fail if I add a 300 ms delay invl53l8cx_init() just after the comment "Download FW into VL53L8CX". It seems like the firmware download needs to finish within about 600-650 ms or it will fail. This isn't a problem when using the VL53L8CX with I2C - it works e

When performing I2C communication from the MCPU on a board that independently implements VL53L8, there is no ACK from VL53L8 at the first address transmission, resulting in an error. If you check the LPn, SCL, and SDA signals, you can see the start condition, SCL and SDA at address 0x52 have clean waveforms, but at the 9th clock, confirm that SDA remains High and there is no ACK from VL53L8. Did. The voltage level of the above signals is 5V for LPn and 1.8V for SCL and SDA. Do you know why ACK is not returned from VL53L8? Is it possible for the I2C address of VL53L8CX to be other than 0x52?

Hello,I'm using the VL53L1CB sensor to detect objects from a long distance. Unfortunately, I can't always guarantee ideal working conditions. Sometimes, there are objects (structural elements) within the detection area that cannot be removed. Their presence causes 'noise'. Is it possible to perform some calibration that would cause all objects seen by the sensor during calibration to be ignored and considered as background?

Hello,I am trying to calculate the x,y,z coordinates of each points of the VL53L5CX sensor to determine the angle error between a surface and the plan of the sensor.I have two problem with my system :- the resulted error is not symmetrical with one rotation side or with the other,- and the resulted error is very depending on the material I chose.Here is a graphic of the mean angle error with 2 surfaces (wood and black metal) repeated with 3 differents VL53L5CX (I took 50 measures each 5° degrees).So I am wondering if my calculation of the coordinates x,y,z of each points of the VL53L5CX is right, an

I am currently testing the VL53L7CX sensor(w/ vl53l5cx_api) with the STM32F7 MCU. The default resolution of 4x4, when running, would consistently return distances around 2.5 -3.0 meters with a target status code of 5 for multiple runs. I then tested 8x8 resolution and it began to return distances no higher than 1 meter with numerous error codes within the 64 zones target status (0,13,255 if I recall). Though, when I would hold my hand over the device it would return the ranges under a meter(this makes sense) with a target status 5 for all zones even when repeated. Please note that the room conditions of the 4x4 measurements and the 8x8 measurements were the same.  Is there any reason for the readings to be present incorrectly when 8x8 resolution is used but 4x4 seems to work as expected?

I woulke to know the dead time of VL53L8CH to know the max value of one bin, but there is no information in the datasheet. Besides, currently I am using  the example in VL53LMZ_MassMarket_ULD of cubeide to get the histogram, I want to know if the number of the bin represent the number of the photons or does it need to multiply with some special scale value?

Hello!   I am working on a project where I would like to be able to detect which type of sensor I have connected (via I2C). For example, I am currentky planning on using a VL53L0x, but would like to be able to detect on boot if I am still using the VL53L0x or have switched to a VL53L1Cx, etc. I recognize that the initialization and read processes are a bit different, and would simply set a flag so I know which to call. Basically, I would like to be able to swap sensors in the field and be able to detect those changes. Is there any sort of ID Register? Is there a different way? I looked through the VL53L0x data sheet but did not find any mention of anything like this. Thanks!

I need to measure a distance within a 1 degree field of view (FOV) in front of the sensor at a distance well within the range of the sensor. I know I can't use focusing optics on the emitter side without changing the laser class - so I won't. Using a simple aperture to narrow the FOV at the detector side, I would reduce the amount of light returned by roughly a factor of 18. A lens would be more effective, but ST does not provide information about the integrated lens and the effective focal point.  Also, I cannot find the calculator AN5894 refers to "Cover glass integration guides and aperture calculator tools are also available on st.com." 

Hi,i saw that the VL6180X is set to NRND.I need the functions of gesture detection and ambiation light measurement.I want to use it in a new product which should be produced more than 10 years but in this case i dont think that this is the right one.Does ST recommends a replacement type? Thanks for helping.Jo

Hi,I would like to ask about the difference between the two modes of offset (PerformOffsetSimpleCalibration and PerformOffsetPerVCSELCalibration).Because when the crosstalk calibration value is high(calibrationData.customer.algo_crosstalk_compensation_plane_offset_kcps>8000),I use the " PerVCSELCalibration" mode, the offset calibration value will be very large, causing my distance data to wait a lot.But when the crosstalk calibration is high and I use "SimpleCalibration" mode, the offset calibration value is not very large and the distance data is normal.So I would like to know more about it:1, the difference in how the two offset modes work.2, does the crosstalk calibration value have any effect on the offset calibration?Thanks

Hello guys,Im trying to learn about LoRa and else. Now, I am using an SubGHZ_Phy in stm32wl sdk. The problem is, when I am using vl6180x codes in while loop without sequencer, it does work! But, When I am trying to implement it with a 5 min util timer and a sequencer; VL6180x sensor does not work properly! It needs to measure a singleshot distance, in first start my readRange command returns 0. After first attempt, second and other attempt; it gives a value but I know it isn't true. I have already read about sequencer, I thought that my mcu turns off every peripheral and thats causes a problem like this. How can I solve it?

I want a code to reset the sensor, and put it before all my routines so I can get the MCU and the sensor to re-synchronize.That are the steps of the technique to reset 1.to find gpio pin has the ability to lift and low And Connect that pin to the Xshut input. 2.A bootup lower the GPIO, wait a few ms, then lift it. Wait a few ms for the sensor to boot, and carry on. Hi how are you …i bought a new esp8266 (also I bought logic level shifter and 74125 IC) and built the project from the beginning as the schematics in the beginning it works fine the rgb ring lights up and the sensor responds and performs the interruption function BUT when I reset the esp nodemcu v3 or unplug the replug the usb to pc the sensor didnot respond …do yoou think that because I still didnot connect the logic level shifter or the ic between the ring and the esp ?note :I connect the shdn pin on the sensor to 3.3v but that part nit in schematics
