I'm using the VL35L0X.ino demo code on an Arduino UNO and a clone VL53L0X sensor. I very carefully measured the off-perpendicular distance measurements obtained from the VL53L0X and compared them to actual tape measure measurements. On average there was about 20mm difference between the two.Also, the VL53L0X gets a little flaky more than 20-30 deg off perpendicular, reporting a '20' about every 3-4 measurement, making it a bit dubious for real-time measurements unless a 5-10 pt average is taken. Granted, the measurements were being done at 1 measurment per second so I would have plenty of time to average, but...

when I use VL53L5CX and get a status, then check with the table, but I still need further description than can explain STATUS means what.It's better like the picture below. Now I meet status 2, but I do not know why this happened.  

Hello, I want to ask about the maximum range of VL53L1CB, as it says in the table (as seen in attached photo) that it's up to 8m. However, in data sheet or specification just says over 400cm.1) So is the performance should be good at 8m range outdoors? 2) What does it mean 8x8, what kind of data will I receive? Thanks.

I'm trying to implement the VL53L5CX ULD v1.3.4 on an Atmel ATSAM4L. Per an Total Phase I2C analyzer, I have it almost all running correctly. It's uploading the firmware, and the firmware bytes captured by the I2C analyzer match the bytes in vl53l5cx_buffers.h. I send sensor config parameters that match those sent by an eval board, and the sensor reports those parameters back correctly (8X8, integration time 10ms, power mode 1, ranging freq 10, sharpener 14%, target order 1, ranging mode 3). But when I enter the ranging loop the calls to vl53l5cx_check_data_ready() are responded to by FE 04 CA 81. The high bit in 81 appears to be a GO2 error. I attached screenshots from the analyzer and printf() diags. Any ideas what's wrong?

Hello, i've been using a couple of VL53L4CX tof for a month with no problem so far, but recently i bought a few more and none of these work. (These new ones are the same model that the ones that worked).Analyzing with a digital osciloscope the I2C commands i saw a difference between this two.Apparently the two tofs seems to be sending without a problem the init commands, but when it tries to access this register (VL53LX_GPIO__TIO_HV_STATUS 0x0031), the one that works answers with a 0x02, meanwhile the bad one responds with a 0x03 (I attached both screenshots).This happens in the driver's function VL53LX_GetMeasurementDataReady, when it calls VL53LX_is_new_data_

Please tell me the brightness range of sunlight that VL53L5CX can be used with.

Howdy,I am working on a project that utilizes a VL53L5CX ToF Sensor, and I am looking to use the STSW-IMG035 libraries for M0+ chips in my project. In the databrief for the sensor, it refers to "an easy-to-read user manual" which I cannot seem to find anywhere on the internet. Is there a user manual for these libraries? And if so, where can I find them?Thank you

Hello,I've already used the vl53l5cx and it worked flawlessly, so I decided to try the newest one. I'm working on an esp32s3 and a satel-vl53l8 using the ULD. I completed the platform file, and it initialized the sensor without errors. But when the sensor tries to start ranging, I get an VL53L8CX_STATUS_ERROR caused by two data sizes which should be the same but aren't.//In vl53l8cx_api.c //vl53l8cx_start_ranging() if(tmp != p_dev->data_read_size) { status |= VL53L8CX_STATUS_ERROR; }I can’t figure out how to fix it. Hi,We are currently in a project where we want to use the VL53L0X chip for ranging. And the example code with PC application seems to work quite good. the next step is to create a PoC using our own system (where we are now).I am currently reading up on the sensor guidelines, API documentation and code examples and can't really explain the return values of the 'VL53L0X_GetRangingMeasurementData' function. Hi,in my next application I plan to use VL53L1X. What I also need, independent from the object detection, is the amount of ambient light. Would it be possible to read that value from VL53L1X using it's full API? Is that value at all available in one of it's I2C registers?Thanks for any support provided.

Hello,I was unsure if the VL53L7CX would be able to detect glass walls. Often ToF sensors are unable to as light passes through the glass, but was curious that the non-zero reflectance of glass (usually <10% but still nonzero) allows VL53L7CX to detect glass walls successfully.Thanks in advance!

Hi:When I move the object detected by the VL53L4CX, I find that there is a one cycle delay in the distance it returns. Is this because its first data is discarded?(Range status=6)？ Is there a way to improve this?Thankyou.Cyt 

Hey, I want to see the 8x8 matrix in the VL53L8CX_GUI but when I try to connect it in the GUI the nucleo does not appear. But it appears by flash. In the device managment from my windows 11 I see the board is on COM8. (See screenshot)Do you guys have an idea? 

Hi,I use to 12 ToF(Vl53l1x) sensor on the robot for security range detect. And at the some situations, this sensors stop ranging data. I detect last regular data and then reset sensor. when starting sensor can do bootstate function. But can not do sensor_init func which stuck on the data_ready func. Do you know why did it this situation?

Hello I want to measure the distance of water in a cylindrical container to the lid of the cylindrical container. I need to find the height of the water by subtracting the measured distance from the height of the cylindrical container. Since there is no pure water in the pipe, we cannot use an ultrasonic sensor. However, the chemicals in the water are not flammable or explosive. What I want to ask is, is there a distance sensor you can recommend to measure water distance? pipe height 400 cm.pipe diameter 100 cm.

I've seen references to various A and B or (even and odd) messages for the ToF sensors.In my application, it turns out that every other measurement is not great, so if I throw out packets based on their message ID count, then I get perfect data but at half measurement rates.  The effect I see is that the measurements oscillate between the real value and a nearby (within 6 or 10cm) value.I think for my sensor, the packet that contains the ambient data is the better one.Is there more documentation on what the two packets are and why the measurements would be different between the two?  Is there a way to set them both to operate the same so that I don't lose half the samples?

Hi all,I'am wondernig about the max XTalk level in kcps which various FlightSense products can compensate. I found only for the new VL53L8CX Sensor a  xtalk compensation limit of 300 kcps - mentioned in application note  AN5939 in section 7 : Guidelines for the cover glass of the VL53L8 Time-of-Flight (ToF) multizone sensor family - Application note (st.com).What about the max xtalk compensation limits for the products VL53L1X/CB and VL53L5CX  ?Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,i bought the X-Nucleo-6283A1 development Board from ST together with an Nucleo-F401RE Developmentboard.I have also installed the GUI and it works ok, the calculation of CCT is not performing correct, but thats ok so far...Now i wanted to perform the whole operation by myself on an Arduino UNO.Like other members already mentioned, the datasheet is not very good, i set everything up and i am able to read out Device ID, Silicon rev, ...but no matter what i do, i cant read out the ALS Channels.The datasheet mentions a "driver API" but there is no possibility to download anything.Can someone tell me where to get more Informationen about this topic, or has done the same on a different Controller not provided by ST?Otherwise my company will not use this sensor for their product.Kind regardsSebastian Burchert

I ended up accidentally discovering that the VL53LX API is compatible with two different sensors.I'm using this platform implementation for Linuxhttps://github.com/ned14/VL53L3CX_rasppiI have the VL53L3CX but also the VL53L4CD.  I've seen that the VL53L4CD doesn't have a "full complexity" driver available in the downloads.  Is the VL53LX API compatible with ALL VL53L**** sensors?  Is there anything I should worry about because the VL53L4CD doesn't have an API other than the ULD or the ULP?
