Posted on October 30, 2013 at 12:48Dear all,I am working on the LIS3DH and trying to correctly develop the embedded Self Test feature.All I do is evaluating the difference between the ''Normal Measurements'' and the ''Self Test Measurements'' and check if these differences match with the Self Test Output Change declared at page 10 in the Data Sheet.The problem is that (@3V supply) I always get values about one half the ones indicated in the data sheet. I also found this Self Test Procedure on the web:http://www.edn.com/design/analog/4390843/2/The-embedded-self-test-feature-in-MEMS-inertial-sensorsand it underlines that the measured difference should fall between a range of values but I cannot find on

Posted on May 19, 2014 at 09:17I try use LIS331EB in IAR 7.1 in one big project. Where can  I find  all additional files for IAR (startup_lis331eb.s, StdPeriph_Driver, StdPeriph_Examples )? Should I use core_cm0.h or You can give me something like lis331eb.h ? Will STM produce 8-bit version (more cheap) mcu+sensor? Thanks, Andrei. #accelerometer-lis331eb

Posted on May 16, 2014 at 13:36Hello, I have some problems to understand the table 21(page31 in datasheet). The output rate is clear, but what does the bandwith means? Witch unit have the cut-off term and how did it have influence to my output values? Next the table 26(page 33), did these table describe the lowest output values in dps witch I can get? How can I assign the cut-off frequenz to my output values (-3dB border or)? Sorry for my bad skills in English language! Best regards Thomas

Posted on September 23, 2013 at 13:20I am using a PIC32MX795F512H which has a number of peripherals (EEPROM, ADC, DDS, and POT) to which I communicate with via SPI. All these work. However the Accelerometer does not. As one reason could be the PIC setup, I've tried bit-bashing. With the scope my CS, Clock and data output match the diagrams. The LIS3DH will not reply. I've moved the chip lines to use the eeprom lines and still no joy. I've bought an evaluation board and that does not work. There is probably a fundamental problem in my understanding of how the LIS3DH works, either the commands, (0x8f should read WHO_I_AM?) or some aspect of how it handles SPI. I would be grateful if anyone could post either: a) working bit-bashing code (preferably in C or pseudo-code) that I can use to debug/prove my code. b) PIC32MX795F512H SPI set-up and code

Posted on May 01, 2014 at 11:01Hello,I've tried to calculate my gyro noise using AVAR (Allan Variance).The results I get are similar to the spec., but the dimensions are dps^2/Hz on my analysis and dps/Hz^0.5 on the spec.  If I calculate the square root of my results (Allan deviation) they are much higher than allowed.Have I missed something?Sincerely,Eran Horesh

Posted on April 30, 2014 at 15:53Hi,We have a MKI109V2 with different extension boards. Now the extension-board MKI135V1 is not working (both we have). We think we need to upgrade the firmware on the MKI109V2 which is running firmware version  2.4.4. Now while following the exact instructions in UM0979, the MKI109V2 does not enter DFU mode. We tried literally everything. Different PC's, drivers, methods and also checked the hardware connections on the PCB.My pc is running Windows 8.1 x64, however we tried in Win7 x64 and XP. #firmware #mki109v2 #upgrade

Posted on April 29, 2014 at 09:56I have been planning a product development that needs magnetic information about the earth magnetic field and accelerometer information about the earth gravity field. I prototyped using the LSM303DLHC, but I do not see a successor Is there any, that has equal sensitivity? In some years from now about 1 million a year would be needed. I have one application question left after my prototype.  I need very accurate accellerometer info. The deviations at 1Hz data-rate led to the conclusion that I need to measure 1000 times a second to get sufficient samples for averaging towards my desired resolution. If the bandwith of the measurement is unchanged that approach would work. Can you confirm that increasing the data rate does not increase the noise bandwidth ?

I can read and write the register values of accelerometer. But I am trying to do tilting operation. I am not get expected result. It gives zero value in all coordinate(x_low,x_high,y_low,y_high,z_low and z_high). But the process is working fine.(no NACK in I2C communication). values only zero. please give the source of problem. #lis331dlh-sensor

Posted on April 19, 2014 at 11:26Hello, I have some questions.I'm using the H3LIS331DL accelerometer to calculate the distance and velocity of a RC Car.I'm using the TI's Tiva MCU(TM4C123BH6PM, ARM Cortex-M4F series) with 16MHz crystal.The connection between the sensor and the MCU is fine. I'm using SPI interface with 1MHz SPI clock. The sensor returns the 'Who am I value' which is 0x32. If the LIS3DH is configure for single click event detection, the single click interrupt is generated when  a single input stimulus. 2. If the LIS3DH is configure for single and double click event detection, only the double click interrupt is generated when a double input stimulus, the single click interrupt never generated when a single input stimulus. What causes it, I am very worried. I would appreciate any help, thank you in advance! #lis3dh

Posted on April 07, 2014 at 13:27Hello I'm using a LSM330DL and have at 400Hz ODR of the both sensors data, and read this data to a PIC MCU using SPI protocol. I'm currently using the STATUS_REG register and poll the ZYXDA bit to determine if new data is available, and then I read the OUT_ registers. The problem of this solution is I'm continously polling the sensor and this consumes a lot of current. What I need is to keep both sensors and MCU in low power / sleepmode, and have a interrupt (DRDY?) to signal the MCU of new data available, so MCU will wake up, and read the data from the OUT_ registers, and go back to sleep mode. It seems to me that both sensors readings of the LSM are aligned (correct me if I'm wrong), so I thought that I only need one interrupt signal for either sensor, and then read the data from both. How should I setup and configure the LSM in order to get an interrupt to signal the MCU that new

Posted on April 01, 2014 at 20:11Hey, I have a design using the 3-axis accelerometer LIS3DH and during the thermal cycling test I noticed an ''issue'' on one of the 3 sensors I put in the chamber. The temperature coefficient of that sensor changes a lot during thermal cycles, depending on if the temperature is increasing or decreasing (see the curve attached). I know MEMS sensors may have fairly big TC but I would assume it's relatively constant so it could be compensated. Besides the TC issue the sensor seems still working properly.  I'm wondering if it's normal or actually something was going wrong. Attached please find the TC vs Temp curve showing the problem. Test conditions: chamber temp settings: -40C,5C,30C,65C,30C,5C ( each step lasts for 2 hours, whole cycle takes 12 hours ) sensor stays still during the test Regards, Qi #temperature-coefficient-

Posted on March 28, 2014 at 14:02Hi, I received a couple of LIS3 samples last week and I'm using them in order to gain a little experience in the field of magnetometers. I managed to install the chip on top of a plastic pen in order to use it as a magnetic ''probe''. As i get near a magnet, I see a component of magnetic field rising to full scale. That's great but I noticed that the value remains in a sort of memory even if I reset o power cycle the device. Is this correct?
