Posted on December 13, 2012 at 04:35Hi,I successfully setup IAR 6.5 and got the F3 Discovery Bd. demo working along with modifying the code to change the LED timing. I read through UM5170 User Manual. I'm looking for more examples to learn about the peripherals. So, I downloaded the AN4157 firmware examples. This includes brief descriptions of each peripheral but not the tutorials to work them.I also found examples with, ''This example has been tested with STMicroelectronics STM32303C-EVAL (STM32F30x)  evaluation board and can be easily tailored to any other supported device and development board.'' Posted on September 28, 2013 at 12:45Hello,I am trying to make a timer interrupt routine, which executes every 0.25us. The problem I am facing that the code length in the routine changes the duration for example running an instruction at 72MHz, the next time the routine execute is 0.35us. It seems the the timer starts counting after returning from the IRQ routine, instead of running just after overflow. I am using Auto-Reload register with value 18. Posted on August 14, 2013 at 16:31Hello! I'm trying to get my STM32L USB device to communicate with PC. Actually i'm stuck at just building the project files for ported (STM32L) HID example project and I've come across a problem already. I use MDK-ARM and the error message is:.\Flash\HID.axf: Error: L9937E: RL-ARM is not allowed with this license I have MDK-ARM Standard license. So, does that mean I can't use USB device if I don't have pro license? I don't use RTX (BTW: it is possible to use USBd without RTOS/RTX, right?) Thanks for answers. J #mdk-arm #license #usb

Posted on July 13, 2013 at 01:32Board: STM324x9I-evalTools : MDK-ARM uvision 4.72.10.0Issue: When compiling/loading/debug either blinky or RTX_blinky. when target set to ''STM32F439 RAM'', everything works fine. I can run, step, etc. but if target set to ''STM32F439 Flash''. When uVision try to load/debug, the eval board LCD display flashing and resetting, then go back to original the ST demo program. Of course the blinky program is not run, the breakpoint is not trigger.I saw there is a post in 2012 that stated using hex file to program. Posted on June 27, 2013 at 10:58Hi,I can't seem to find answer to following question in Datasheet, Programming Manual, Reference Manual and StdPeriph Driver Doc.If I use the Flash memory to Simulate EEPROM and I wish to use one of the 16KB sectors, e.g.Sector1, which is located at the beginning of Flash area, do I need to move my NVIC and Program code to beyond these Sectors i.e. 0x08004000. And do I do that by simply specifying it at link time. The Reference manual also indicates Sectors0-11, am I correct in saying that this is only for 1MB device and that 256KB device only supports Sectors0 to 5?Where do I find the Page Sizes?Thanks in advance! #linker #flash-eeprom-simulation

But I cannot control what happens when data is received. I have not used an ARM ever before, I've mostly used 8 bit micros, lots of MSP430 work in the last few years.I am very familiar with IAR EW, been using it for 10 years. So, of course I looked there first when deciding on what to use for the STM32 processor. The EWARM is sooo damn expensive! It's like $3400 - $7000 or something like that.I've gotten pricing for some of the others, Tasking, Keil, I forget what else, they are less certainly but is it worth it to use the IAR as I have used it so much? My knee-jerk reaction is that it is probably *not* worth it ... Posted on June 17, 2013 at 00:39I am trying to use the I2C to read and write to an external 24LC024 EEPROM.  I am using a polling method since my DMAs are being used for USART2.  I remapped I2C1 to PB8/PB9.  When I read the EEPROM it works fine and I see the correct data.  However, when I write it sometimes fails.  If I single step through my code (IAR EWARM) it will always write correctly with no errors.  However when I let it run freely it will fail waiting for a response from the EEPROM usually when I am sending the data address I want to write to.  I have used the settings as suggested in the examples from IAR.  What else should I look at? Also, when I read or write I am doing the entire process for each byte.  Does anyone have an example of a polling method that is more efficient?  For example, setting the eeprom to auto-increment through a page of bytes.

Posted on June 11, 2013 at 08:00Hi,    I am trying to communicate with the external EEPROM (AT24C64) using I2C when i'm writing into the EEPROM it works fine, when i am reading the data from the eeprom it blocks on the internal address byte sending to eeprom. i dont know why the acknowledgement is not raising in the eeprom for random read. I am working off an example I found online which I have simplified to play only one note (single tone) before moving on to the tune. I am able to build the target, however, when I download it onto the micro-controller, nothing happens. It was suggested to me that this may be due to my not having set a frequency to the DAC, specifically one that would be audible to the human ear. If this is the case, I am curious why this was not touched upon in the example provided and why it is not mentioned in the DAC peripheral files (.c, .h) in CMSIS? Furthermore, I was under the impression that the timer trigger that I've used (see attached) would dictate the frequency of the tone. Is this not the case? If the issue I am having is not rel

However, we are using their evaluation copy which only permits 32KB max program size and we have surpassed that. Previous to using Keil, we tried YARGATO and we were able to compile but when we loaded executable from Keil we were able to get it to work but not the case with YARGATO so we stuck with Keil. Well now we have outgrown it unless we buy a license which is out of our price range at the moment. What is everyone using to develop? Is there something free/open that we can use? We will soon be deving on the STM32W line and will be incorporating the SimpleMAC library. We would require that it be possible to use this library with a different toolchain. We would prefer an environment where we do not have to create our own startup code and low-level/assembly routi

Posted on March 06, 2013 at 15:00Dear AllI'm using IAR EWARM to compile my bootloader and application.I'm developing on STM32L151 64K version.My bootloader is located in pages 0-63, sectors 0-3, I would like to protect this area against flash write, just to be sure my bootloader will never been written spuriously.I understand I have to write the WRP byte of option bytes to enable this protection.What I do not understand is where and when I should write these option bytes ?1) Should these option bytes should be included into the hex or bin file ? So I'm sure the protection will be active once the chip burned with the hex or bin file ?If so, how can I configure IAR to setup these option bytes ?2) In my bootloader code ? Posted on February 01, 2013 at 11:30When the virtual eeprom api function is erasing a page, it interrupts systick interrupt. I toggled a led on every 100us to check systick interrupt in alive, but when the api function start to erase a page(for example 0x08030000), there are no interrupt untill it finishes(it was take around 30ms) It is normal or there are someting else that interrupts the systick interrupt? #stm32f #eeprom
