Currently we use a PowerStep01 in StepClock configuration  the current controller (CM_VM Bit set). Number of Microsteps is set to 2. Hold current (TVAL_HOLD) is set to 3 Ampere based on a 0.1 Ohm shunt resistor. All other registers are left on their default values.All motors are supplied with 72V. With the following small motor the PowerStep01 is overheated immediately and triggers thermal shutdown. The motor itself is 100% ok, both phases are within spec. Motor parameters:Resistance

Our requirement was to create a LED driver circuit to power 12 strings of 7 LEDs from a 12V DC supply with a nominal current of 20mA per string.Using the STEVAL-ILL035V1 Development board data for PCB layout guidance and the LED7708 design tool spreadsheet for component selection we successfully built a prototype driver PCB and produced firmware to setup the on-board registers and control the LEDs for our application.Initial results were good and all appeared to be working as expected until we noticed that after a random period (5 to 10 minutes) the LEDs would go off completely and wouldn't recover normal operation untill the device was disabled (DEVCFG0.DEN = 0) and then re-enabled.When the LEDs go off the boost converter goes into a skipping mode of operation but no errors are indicated either from the XFLT pin or the status registers.After disabling/enabling the device, the LEDs would come back on normally but would then go off again some time later. BMS63EN connection problemI connected AEK-COM-ISOSPI1 and BMS63EN through PinMap provided by SPC5.However, I found two problems.1. When the input voltage is 56V, when I measured the voltage of Cell0, the voltage was measured as 10V~12V, and the voltage of other cells was measured as 2V. I confirmed that the voltage of the cells was gradually decreasing.2. When I disconnected the ISOfrequency connection to AEK-COM-ISOSPI1, I confirmed that the voltage of Cell0 was measured as 4.2V, and the voltage of the remaining cells was 3.7V.(However, communication did not work.)There is also a problem in case 2. (When AEK-COM-ISOSPI1 and BMS63EN are separated, each cell voltage is measured as 4V.)How can I solve the problem?

Dear Madam/Sir,We are using powerStep01 and must implement motor "hardstop" purely in hardware (no software intervention).We consider these options:- using the external switch SW and bit SW-MODE = 0;- OR, with all voltages externally supplied, cut off VS (externally to the controller) while all the other voltages are still active (generated from another rail). Does this damage the controller? If not, does this continues to allow access to internal registers via SPI?- OR, with all voltages internally supplied, cut off VS externally to the controller.Please advise pros and cons of the above solutions. Hello,LED1202 Can we use over 5V for VLED?For example, We plan to use  5V power supply. It's maximum voltage is 5.25V.It is my understanding that we can use maximum VLED voltage is  VCS_MAX plus VF of used LED.Is that right?Thanks, 

Hello,I am having trouble measuring current with the L99615C STEVAL kit and wanted to check if I might be doing something wrong. My jumper settings are as follows: J19, J20, J13, and J14 are shorted, while J15, J16, J17, and J18 are set to position 1-2.I connected a 22Ω resistor between CH+ and CH-, but when I measure the current, it seems that no current is flowing through the resistor. Is there anything additional that needs to be done, or could there be a mistake in my setup?I also read that for the HS setup, some jumpers need to be removed, but I assumed this only applies when a charger is present. Since I am using power supplies instead of batteries and do not need to use the MOSFET section, I shorted it instead.I am attaching a picture of my setup and a wiring diagram for reference.

Hello,I’m encountering an issue where I’m unable to fully understand the behavior of the GUI in relation to the commands being transmitted via serial USB to the NUCLEO. I’ve figured out that there is a CRC at the end of the raw data being transmitted through USB. However, despite trying several online calculators to generate the same CRC, I haven’t been able to match the CRC present in the raw data. Is there a specific algorithm used to calculate the CRC? I am attaching two pictures that show the result of calculating the CRC and the CRC generated by the DEMO GUI. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding how the GUI operates, but I assumed the GUI was responsible for generating the CRC in this case.Thanks in advance for your help.Best regards,Dominik Limber 

Hi Everybody,In the case of a LEDs tubes dimmer, I'm using a TD352.It works very well. But in some case (and for the moment, I don't know why), my IGBT and the resistor wich controls the gate of the IGBT burn.I just replace these two components and after it works well. It happens very rarely, but it happens.IGBT can drive up to 80A (@ 25°C), and Vce is ok up to 650VAC, and the maximum inrush current that I measure is 35A, and the peak voltage, it's around 450VAC.The value of the resistor is 51R in 0805 case.The IGBT that I use is an IK40N65WR5.If you have some suggestions to try to understand what happens, I'll be very happy.

Hello!I am new to circuit design so please treat me patiently :relieved_face:I am building a receiver circuit based on STWLC98 and following the design guides from STEVAL-WLC98RX wireless power receiver evaluation board manual. My question is what tool can I use to test the circuit without assembling it? I worked with LTspice XVII before, but it does not have all the necessary components. Maybe there is a simmilar tool for STM MPU?Thank you for any useful reference!

Hello team, I'm using this L9823 for driving a 24v, 0.24A DC motor, but sometimes when i try to turn on the Fan it is not working and after some 3rd attempt it is turning on. The output is capable of driving upto 2A right. I monitored the current and during the turn on time i get a current spike of 1.3A for 80us. Does the cureent spike making the output to turn off? I also observe the same spike during the fan working condition also , but the duration of  spike is less. Can anyone give a solution.    

Hi there,My question is if there is a way to enable or disable the Viper26K with for example an optocoupler.In the isolated flyback topology this is done cycle by cycle. But we want to enable/disable it in the high voltage buck configuration. Can we short-circuit the comp network for long periods of time? How is the internal startup circuit designed? Thanks in advance!

Hi. Looking to use E-L9823 as a replacement in a legacy design.The datasheet states pin 21 is not connected. Looking to confirm it is a true "no connect" internally on the part.  On our existing PCB it will be tied to +24V. Thanks.

If the resistance value of RLimit is set to 14Ω to 22Ω, how do you calculate the heat generation of the resistor?Is 0.1W OK for other resistors?Also, can you provide the BOM for the evaluation board (STEVAL-EFUSE01)?

I'm using the vnf1048f chipset.k value is required for current sensing, but it is not specified in the data sheet.Can you tell me what the k value is?

Hello,   I am trying to find the ESD ratings for this SCTW100N65G2AG. Usually its given in datasheet where its talking mostly about electrical stress data showing the ESD HBM and ESD  CDM, but I can't find this information in this MOSFET's data sheet.      

Hello, So I recently received the dev board STEVAL-WBC86TX and was quite impressed with the features. Accidentally the wrong config ID was written to the board. Now I cannot connect to it again using the Windows utility. The USB to I2C appears to be working normally, but there is an error in the log and the device never connects successfully in the GUI, thus, I cannot flash the original config and nvm patch files from the website, provided as STSW-WBC86FWBPP. [TX]WBC86 connection ex: Wrong config id 0xDA06 and patch id 0x0000 for TX" I thought I could edit WBC86.json.enc, which probably contains which ID and such... I'm guessing this is encrypted json. Is there a way to hard reset this chip to restore connectivity to the dev board?  

Hi  , I've a question regarding the EVB in the subject , in the Data brief the Deadtime , with the pot in the center , is about 700ns , that seems to me a lot for the GaN device used .In the previous version ( EVSTDRIVEG60015 ) it was 100ns with the same GaN , is possible to know the reason for a higher value ?ThanksIce

I am driving an A2212 13T motor with sensorless FOC with B-G431B-ESC1.The motor ran up to a certain speed.Then it stopped showing an overvoltage fault in the ST motor pilot.I am tried tuning Startup parameters.But the problem exists.Give me solution to overcome problem?
