STM32 MCUs Motor control

Hello ST Community,I am currently using the EVSPIN32F0251S1 inverter board to control a BLDC motor for an elevator door control application.When I run my BLDC motor in torque mode and set torque with this API  MC_ProgramTorqueRampMotor1_F() so my motor is rapidly rotating and reach maximum speed.For my application, I need to maintain a fixed speed (e.g., 1000 RPM) while delivering the maximum possible torque. I would like to know if it is possible to achieve this behavior using the current firmware and control APIs.If this is feasible, I would appreciate your guidance on how to properly configure the motor control to balance both speed and torque — specifically, how to apply torque while constraining the motor to operate at a specified speed limit.Thank you in advance for your support.

Dear ST motor control experts:      I am currently debugging a PMSM using MCSDK6.3.2, with the following components: MCU: STM32G473QET6, control board: B-G473E-ZEST1S, power board: STEVEL-LVLP01. However, the motor fails to start. Upon inspection, it was found that the issue is caused by the R3_GetMeasurements() function. After MCI_START == Mci[M1].DirectCommand, the PWM is initiated, and when sampling and saving data for current and voltage, many function addresses change. Specifically, in the function R3_GetMeasurements(), there is a line of code: PWMC_R3_Handle_t * pHandle = (PWMC_R3_Handle_t *)pHdl. Is there a problem here? Because performing a cast on a pointer may cause memory boundary errors. Is this the reason?I hope to receive a reply.Thanks!

The board appears in Device Manager on my Windows 10 PC, and port/baud rate/parity settings match what is in Motor Pilot and STM32CubeProgrammer. Neither Motor Pilot nor STM32CubeProgrammer will connect to the board. I am using the latest drivers. What am I missing?

Dear Support team,I am currently working on a NucleoF302R8 and IHM07M1 driver to run a 24V PMSM motor (rated at 3600 RPM, no load).I'm using STM32 Motor Control Workbench version 6.4.0. Whenever I attempt torque control, I consistently encounter a speed feedback failure. I've tried lowering the C2 Leuenberger constant, but the issue persists. Interestingly, this problem doesn't occur in speed control mode—everything functions correctly when running in speed control.I would appreciate your assistance in understanding and resolving this issue.

As I am using this particular motor, "GL30 KV290", to test with the eval. board "B-G431B-ESC1". Although I was able to profile the motor using the profiler and eventually control it using motor pilot, I would like to properly assess how we can achieve PID control effectively for the speed of the motor, and how to tune RevUP parameters.(1) I profile the motor using the following information:     Magnetic Struct: SM-PMSM, Pole-Pairs: 7, Max. Question about Electrical Angle Synchronization in MCSDK v6.4.0Hi everyone,I'm using MCSDK v6.4.0 with an STM32G4, a 42BLF01 motor, and a high-quality incremental encoder with Z-index.My goal is to accurately correct the electrical angle on each Z-pulse to avoid long-term drift after 100 rounds.In previous SDK versions, there was a function called ENC_SetElAngle() which allowed setting the electrical angle directly.In MCSDK v6.4.0, however, this function no longer exists – and the corresponding enc_driver.h file is also missing.Main Question:Is there any official or recommended way in MCSDK v6.4.0 to directly set or correct the electrical angle at the Z-pul

Hello and good day.When using my custom board, I am facing "The following has evaluated to null or missing" errors during code generation. I have tried a few variation of custom boards but I can't seem to solve the issue. FYI, this doesn't happen when generating code using ST evaluation boards.Is this an issue from my side?I am using the latest MCSDK v6.41 and STM32CubeMX 6.15.I have attached my project file for reference.Edit: I am using STMC Board Designer Version: 1.2.1 and I just uploaded the board design. 

Hi,   I am trying to create an online angular velocity controller where my torque is dependent on the angular velocity of the motor (motor being driven by the plant). Basically, I want to resist the movement from the plant in a way that keeps the control loop passivity. My torque control loop is running at a 1 ms interval. The issue is that the encoder feedback loop from STM's motor control, generated mc_tasks is running at 1 ms as well. I am running into bandwidth issues here and need to increase the rate of the encoder feedback loop. Is there a way to reliably do this? I have doubled the rate by editing drive_parameters.h to set the SPEED_LOOP_FREQUENCY_HZ to 2000 instead of 1000. SYS_TICK_FREQUENCY is at 2000 so I am limited here to 2000.  At the end of the day I guess I am wondering about how I can increase my frequency reliably, and learn about if there are drawbacks to doing so. Hello Everybody,MCSDK:6.3.2CubeMX: 6.1.4Workbench : 6.3.2 I want to test the motor first with the open loop APIs. I follow the instructions of the user mannual and write the code as follows:My question is: I captured the U, V, and W three-phase waveforms using an oscilloscope and found that the duty cycle settings are correct. However, the waveforms remain stuck in only one section (they never change) and fail to drive the motor through all six sections. Could you help analyze what might be causing this issue? Thanks!

I am currently writing code for the EVLServo1 board using function calls to control the motor and send information about the motor back to a STM32H735G-DK discovery board using the FDCAN bus.  Everything seems to be working really well and I am sending back the measured speed of the motor, Iq, and power using the following function calls from the mc_api.c file:MC_GetMecSpeedAverageMotor1() - Measured speedMC_GetIqdMotor1_F() - IqMC_GetAveragePowerMotor_F() - PowerIn the Motor Pilot software it also shows the temperature of the heatsink as measured by the NTC Thermistor on the board inverter board of the EVLServo1 kit.  I'd really like to be able to report this back to the STM32H735G-DK so I can display it on the screen along with the other info, however, I don't see a function call that will return this information.  Is there a function call in another file within the project I can use?  Is there some other method for doing this?

Hi ST Team,I'm using the EVSPIN32F0601S3 development board and attempting to control a BLDC motor via Motor Control Workbench 6.3.0 and Motor Pilot 6.3.0.Everything connects successfully when I open Motor Pilot — the board is detected, and parameters are correctly loaded. However, as soon as I press the "Start" button to run the motor, Motor Pilot immediately disconnects from the board. There's no error message aside from the disconnect itself.What I've tried so far:Verified UART connection (using STLink onboard)Ensured the power supply to the board and motor is stableReflashed the firmware generated by WorkbenchTried different USB cables and portsRechecked motor parameters (voltage, current, sensor type, etc.)Environment:Motor Control Workbench & M

  Hi I am new to this tools but basically I have tried with 3 different boards STEVAL-SPIN3204  but I am not able to connect the board or do anything useful with it. I have connected the device through USB to my computer, initially LD1 and DL1 where on. The device is recognized as mass storage and there are two files on of which is FAILED with message"The interface firmware FAILED to reset/halt the target MCU" I have used STM32CubeProgrammer to try to connect and inspect the device. I also tried upgrading the firmware. This seems to made it worse since now the DL1 led does not turn off and the device seems to not be recognized at all at in STMCube32IDE. This behavior seems consistent with 3 boards, after upgrading  the DL1 led does not turn on. I am  able to compile the project but not load it. My board is rev2.1 STM32CubeIDE Version: 1.19.0Build

Hi , I am using multiple ST Evaluation Boards and all worked well . However , in one of the board i am facing issue of UART connection . Board is ST   EVAL-CTM012V1A . STMCSDK is 6.3.2, Keil u vision 5 , STM32cube Mx 6.11.1 . Baud rate tried :- 9600,115200,19200,1843200 . . However board is running fine in debug mode . Please help me in solving this issue

Hello,I am using the EVLSERVO1 board with a differential quadrature encoder (A and B phases). The encoder has a resolution of 4096 pulses per revolution, and I am observing issues when the motor speed exceeds a few hundred RPM.Specifically, the system becomes unstable above ~500 RPM. The motor fails to spin reliably, and the encoder appears to stop providing meaningful feedback(past 500 rpm, the encoder value stays the same about). However, when I probe the differential signal (A+ minus A−), the waveform looks clean on the scope.Is this behavior expected due to the encoder being considered "high resolution"? Would performing the rework suggested for high-resolution encoders (replacing R81 and R82 with 330 Ω...) help resolve this issue?I am unsure where the resolution or frequency cutoff is that necessitates this rework, and would appreciate any guidance.Thank you!

Hi,I have generated code for HSO on a workbench as recommended by the release note. But we are thinking of using the STM32F4 or STM32F7 series of controllers. So, my question is: Does the HSO algorithm work for dual-channel FOC on the STM32F4 or STM32F7 boards if we port the code? HSO is not for the STM32F4 Series. Is it due to peripheral limitations or not introduced? Thanks,Rahul D

Hello everyone,I am currently using ST Motor Control Workbench v6.4.0 along with STM32CubeMX v6.14.1 installed on my Windows PC. Although STM32CubeMX is correctly installed and working independently, when I click "Generate Code" in the Motor Control Workbench, the program fails to detect STM32CubeMX. It shows the message:“STM32CubeMX not found – ver. '6.0.0' or higher is required.”With that, I am not able to detect "Target Toolchain" and "Firmware Package Version" on Motor Control Workbench 6.4.0I would be grateful if you could assist or provide confirmation regarding this workaround or a more official solution in case of future updates.

I have created a custom inverter board using STMC Board Designer. And there is no error reported by Board Designer.  However when I use the inverter board to creat a workbench project, it tells me "Current Sensing" item has some errors without details. So I have no idea about what is the exact error and how to solve it.

I tried to rotate the nema34 stepper motor through hss86 motor driver using the stm32 G474RE. I configured the pins as follow:  Pul - connected to Tim 3_CH 1(PA6) , Dir - connected to GPIO OUTPUT_B_10 , Ena - connected to GPIO OUTPUT_D_2 and all the positive terminals to the 5V battery and grounded it to the stm32 pin(GND) . I also generated the output pulse and upload my code to the stm 32 without any error, Although the motor is not rotating. Is there any specific code I have to write  beyond the PWM generation code.
