Posted on May 24, 2015 at 18:38Hello All, 1) how can I have an asynchonous Transmit command ? 2) what is the largest amount of data I can put into CDC_Transmit_FS ? I am implementing CDC on my firmware based on CubeMx. So far it works (I have to increase the heap) when I quickly want to transmit severel chunks of data:      CDC_Transmit_FS(buffer1, strlen((char *)buffer1));      CDC_Transmit_FS(buffer2, strlen((char *)buffer2));      CDC_Transmit_FS(buffer3, strlen((char *)buffer3)); only the first one is sent. What I do not understand is how buffer handling is done. in CDC_Transmit_FS it a) USBD_CDC_SetTxBuffer b) USBD_CDC_TransmitPacket Function a) copies the buffer pointer to the HAL and function b) sends the data via USB. Posted on November 11, 2015 at 22:11 Hi, I have spotted a potential bug in the HAL driver for the UART on (at least) the STM32L0. The macro for determining the BRR register value__DIV_LPUART is defined as follows: #define __DIV_LPUART(_PCLK_, _BAUD_) (((_PCLK_)*256)/((_BAUD_))) Any value passed to this macro for the _PCLK_ token over 16MHz will result in overflow as it is multiplied by 256 before being divided by the required _BAUD_. I noticed this as I tried to use the HAL driver to set my PCLK driven UART (32MHz) to 9600 and saw it come out as 19 Has this been raised before? Posted on October 22, 2015 at 19:28Dear All, I am making calls to the HAL_I2C_Mem_Read_DMA, HAL_I2C_Mem_Write_DMA provided by the STM32HAL driver, and in some cases expecting a Address ACK failure. It seems that the implementation of these functions involves a call first to the HAL_DMA_START_IT, which enables the DMA stream, and then proceeds to send the slave address/ memory address. However, since I expect there to be an Address ACK failure (I am trying to find multiple devices out of which only some of them will be discovered), the DMA transfer is started before the slave/ memory address is sent over, and we are constantly waiting for the DMA transfer to complete. If I swap the order-- the Slave and Memory Address is sent before the DMA transfer has been started up-- then everything works as expected. That is, I get a HAL_I2C_ERROR_AF and the DMA transfer has not been started because the call to HAL_I2C_Mem_Read_DMA has returned

The microcontroller we use is STM32F051C8. Just made some project using the newest version of CubeMX software, and it didn't work. I could simplify the code (see below) to focus on the problem. In short, the UART transfer isn't working for some reason. If I single-step throughHAL_UART_Transmit_IT() call, it works ok. However if I start in free-running mode, the code would never reach the while(1) loop. Posted on October 14, 2015 at 05:20I am using Cube, everytime that I make a small change in the cube project and regenrate the code, it generates this line in stm32f1xx_hal_msp.c    /**DISABLE: JTAG-DP Disabled and SW-DP Disabled     */  __HAL_AFIO_REMAP_SWJ_DISABLE();Everytime I have to go and comment this line out. The other codes that I write in between the special comment sections remains fine, but this line always makes some problem. Posted on August 24, 2015 at 22:08When Discontinuous Conversion Mode is disabled CubeMX leaves the NbrOfDiscConversion field in ADC_InitTypeDef uninitialized which can cause assert_param(IS_ADC_REGULAR_NB_CONV(hadc->Init.NbrOfConversion)) in  HAL_ADC_Init to trigger resulting in an assert failure. Exporting the project to TrueSTUDIO, I have noticed that these customizations remain only in the .ioc file and are not included in the source code, even after the import of the project ( in TrueStudio) . Posted on October 07, 2015 at 08:19have you ever noticed, that pinout and clock config tabs aren't matching each other?especially if you select Nucleo or Discovery Boards, on pinout Tab you can see pin's selected and marked properly, but Clock configuration tab doesn't reflect proper crystals ...for STM32F4 Discovery there is an issue with clocking ratios so when you move to clock config tab mostly it is red overclocked... for STM32F466RET Nucleo board, it doesn't reflect 32 kHz crystal connected to the MCU PC14,PC15...  #stm32 #cubemx

Posted on August 13, 2014 at 02:14I do not know enough about the internal workings of the processor to be sure, but I believe there is a bug in the HAL DMA drivers for the F4xx series. Specifically, it seems the De-init method puts the DMA peripheral in a state that the Init method does not properly reset. This was evidenced in a problem I had posted [DEAD LINK /public/STe2ecommunities/mcu/Lists/STM32Java/Flat.aspx?RootFolder=/public/STe2ecommunities/mcu/Lists/STM32Java/SPI&currentviews=20]here. Essentially, if I made a call to de-init prior to initializing, the DMA transfer never incremented the destination address. Removing the de-init call results in working behavior. I was able to confirm by changing the length of the transfer that the peripheral being served by the DMA transfer was in fact receiving the correct data, but that each byte transferred to memory by the DMA was going to the same location rather than auto-incrementing. #stm3

I have a custom USB device that uses CDC to send and receive serial data. When the device is attached to the USB host, it is detected correctly and the CDC class is being started. The functions for writing to and reading from the USB device are USBH_CDC_Transmit and USBH_CDC_Receive. These functions are non-blocking, and there are 2 callback functions that are called when the data have been transferred - USBH_CDC_TransmitCallback and USBH_CDC_ReceiveCallback. I have made some tests reading and writing the device and discovered, that I have to wait the last operation to finish before calling again the functions for reading or writing. But now CubeMX (4.9.0) is not starting anymore asking for an old Java 1.7.0_45 I kindly ask you to make the CubeMX software compatible to the latest Java. Posted on September 12, 2015 at 00:46Hi All,I'm trying to build an application which can receive commands through UART, and can also send messages.I have created 2 threads using FreeRTOS: one for a continuous RX, and one for a repetitive TX.The RX task seems to run fine, it captures all the raw data coming in through the UART. However in the other thread when I'm trying to send out a few bytes, I always got a HAL_BUSY flag.I'm using HAL drivers, and project is generated with MXCube.I'm not using currently a DMA or even an IT callback, I'm just trying to get things working first with the most simple blocking RX/TX.I'm wondering if I should synchronise the reader and writer flags - however if the UART peripheral is meant to be full duplex then parallel TX and RX should work.The whole communication is going to be used to manage an ESP8266 through UART with AT command set
