Power management

​This is my circuit of L6591.Are there some errors in the circuit.

I have to repair a 15 year-old extractor hood and have to replace the triac. The triac is one of the components that controlls the speed of two fans inside the hood.

I want to use the L6591 to realize the constant current output.I just see the constant voltage output in the demo.So I just wanted to know how to design the feedback circuit if used in the constant current topology.​

I put in a support request august 13th regarding information about STUSB4500 i2c communication, but I have not heard anything, so trying here instead. Our goal with this chip is to supply our system with a negotiated voltage and current from a universal usb c charger. But I need to know the addresses and value ranges for the relevant I2C registers to do this. When will this information be available ?

​Hello ,my company is developping a Battery management system EVSE, where it needs to realize a communication via protocol ISO15118.My company has know how about power board and so on, but it is not interested on communication part; so we prefer to by a ready to use product.We need 2 product:1) bridge FROM connector CCS COMBO2 ISO15118 TO generic ethernet2) bridge FROM wireless ISO15118 TO generic ethernetI saw for point 1) ST2100, maybe ?For point 2) ???? Hi,Are there any known drawbacks to utilizing a Hall sensor for speed and position feedback in FOC?How is performance for low speeds?

Hi,We are using STEF 01 e-Fuse in our design. In that EN pin is controlling through an FPGA but its return path is not common to VCC and VOUT.Please let me know the design will work ?Below I have attached the design approach image.

I built STUSB4710AQTR design basing in evaluation board. I connected it to Microsoft Surface Go tablet which support USB 3.1 PD . However I don't see any negotiation through CC lane: only tablet send 16Hz .Please advice what can be problem and how to start debugging this chip?May be STUSB4710AQTR should be configured prior to start working?Thank you in advance

Hi,I am using STUSB4710AQTR. I build my board basing on reference design. Now I connected it to Microsoft Surface Go tablet. According datasheet this tablet support USB3.1 PD. However I even don't see any negotiation through CC lanes: only tablet send pulses with about 16Hz . Could you advice how to start debugging. Thank you in advance

I have an ac dc converter project based on flyback (85-270AC / 12V_1.5A-15V_0.125mA) and at the output I do not have voltage regulated. The project was prepared with the help of e-Design.I was able to operate when I pressed the tip of the oscilloscope to measure the CONT (6) pin. With the tip on this pin the output regulates to 12V and 15V. When removing the tip, it stops to regulate. I inserted a 22pF ceramic capacitor in parallel with the RLIM and apparently solved the problem.In e-Design this capacitor is not necessary. Could you help me identify what the problem might be in my project? Can it be layout problem?Thank you.Fernando

please help me to under stand calculation of bldc motor ramp up in open loop 

I'm running the motor in torque mode with an encoder. It works really well.The only problem I have is that something internal to the FOC software adjusts the torque down at (very) low and zero speed. I assume this is done to avoid the motor overheating.Example:I align and start the motor, it quickly spins up and draws 20W. Lots of torque.I apply some friction to the motor and it still draws approx 20W.I apply more and more friction, the speed falls as I apply more friction. At some point when the speed gets low the power draw gradually falls.I force the motor to a complete stop, the power draw is almost zero. Almost zero torque obviously.I let go of the motor, it spins up again and draws 20W.So my questions are pretty simple:- What is affecting my torque at low/zero speeds?- How do I increase torque at low/zero speeds?Any pointers are greatly appreciated.

I attended the excellent motor control sessions last week at the ST Developers Conference in Santa Clara, CA. At the presentation I received the Nucleo F302R8 and X-Nucleo-IHM07M1 boards which I've been experimenting with. However, I would now like to use ST Motor Control Workbench to target the STM32F429ZI chip we are looking to use in our custom motor control systems. To get started, I would like to pair the X-Nucleo-IHM07M1 with the Nucleo F429ZI development board, but I don't see a way of selecting the STM32F429ZI MCU in the Motor Control Workbench. The closest I can get is in the "MCU and Clock Frequency Selection" is choosing "STM32F4xx" as the MCU type and "STM32F417IG" as the MCU. With this I can produce the ST32CubeMX project, but within STM32CubMX, I can't change the MCU to the actual STM32F429 MCU I would like to target.Is there a way of using the ST Motor Control Workbench to easily target the STM32F429? Is there an alternative way of using the STM32CubeMX to manually confi

Hi, I'm using the powestep IC to control a stepper motor. All is going well but I can't figure out how to move the motor from one point to another at specific speed. e.g. if I send the goto command, like goto(1000) the motor do Accel--->max_speed-->Deccel, so I can set max_speed and then goto, the problem is that the resolution of max_speed if too bad compared with the run command. But run command runs forever, and I wanna set a target point to stop the motor. Summury: If I use goto, I haven't speed resolution, if I use run, I do have speed resolution, but no stop point. Any idea how to solve that? any suggestion is welcome. Thanks in advance. Pablo Slavkin.

Anyone knows what's happening with the productoion of the voltage regulator LD39300PT-R? I am trying to buy this component for weeks and all distributors have no stock of this part number. The factory delivery time, in every distributors is 50 weeks!!!! This is almost 1 year!!! In ST webpage, this part number is set as "ACTIVE" but it can't be found anywhere... What's happening with ST???

Hi,There is a datasheet on digikey page related to LDL212 product wihch shows pin1 is Output Voltage but the datasheet on ST website shows pin1 is Ground.I beleive there is a mistake on datasheet on digikey page.A picture is attached thanks.

Posted on July 03, 2018 at 07:54Hello:    I am try to use the H bridge VNH7100BAS to design the Single-phase motor's driver.The block diagram as below: Hall sensor detects the location of winding's rotor magnetic pole. According to the position, motor control need change the current direction to generate right magnetic field, this field will continuously interact with rotator N-S then generate the force. Our motor maximum speed is 5000 rmp, the rotation is always clockwise. From VNH7100BAS SPEC, INA/INB will switch the current direction in stator coils, the original purpose is to change the rotation direction of motor. From my application purpose, I don’t need change the rotation direction, but I need change the current direction to support magnetic field changes for motor continuous rotation. So, I assume VNH7100BAS can do that. And our motor speed is 5000 rmp,it meens commutation frequency of motor is 5000/60*4=333HZ on INA/INB. Can VNH7100BAS do this applicatio

Looking for some advice for some specific performance improvement.I am working on a traction application with custom inverter hardware and ST FOC software. Also using custom motors with built in hall sensors. The application uses the motors for movement and steering (eg. controlling two back wheels separately). Motors are set to run only in speed control.​Generally, I have no issues starting, running and emag braking ABOVE a certain minimum speed. However when the vehicle is stopped, I keep the controllers running at zero RPM to try and keep the wheels from moving in case of slight terrain incline/decline - kind of like a park brake. This does not work very well. The speed controller seems to hunt or oscillate and the wheels will either jitter back and forth or roll at a really slow speed. This gets worse with tighter PI coefficients that are good for running performance.​Just​ wondering if any one has any suggestions for improving things. I'm experimenting with the EVAL6470H dev board and the Spin Family software. I can get the values for motor inductance and motor winding resistance for the motor I want to use but I cannot find a spec for the Ke value.Can anyone help me understand how to measure this value or where to find it or calculate it?I've tried measuring the BEMF of the stepper motor (driven at 1000 RPM gives 38V). From my calculations, that gives a Ke value of around 0.362 but that simply does not work so I must be doing something wrong.Experimenting with different Ke values makes a huge different to motor performance so I really need to work out what the value should be.Any help appreciated, thanks.

I am driving a 200 step per revolution motor. The position register per the data sheet conforms to the selected step mode so 1/16 micro stepping results in 3200 steps per revolution. I would expect that the max/min speed registers would conform to that as well so 200 steps/sec would result in a full revolution taking 16 seconds (ignoring acceleration and deceleration). That does not appear to be the behavior as 200 steps/sec takes roughly 1 second regardless of the step mode. I just want to confirm that this is the correct behavior.
