STM32 MCUs Motor control

Hi all,I noticed that when using the encoder, the motor undergoes an alignment phase during which it completes a rotation until it reaches the position where the Index Z signal is triggered.I was wondering if it's possible to skip this alignment phase by adding the Hall sensors (like with the B-G473E combined with the STEVAL-LVLP01 board), and if so, what should I specify in the Workbench or in the Code?Regards,Jules

I am currently working with MC Workbench and the ST Motor Pilot tool for motor control development. While setting up and attempting to establish a connection using the latest version of ST Motor Pilot, I am encountering a connection issue that appears to be caused by a bug in the current release.As suggested in the community forums, I also tried using an older version of ST Motor Pilot. However, this introduces dependency conflicts, as other required components and tools in the workflow depend on the latest versions and are not fully compatible with the older Motor Pilot version.Board- STEVAL-ESC001V1  

Hi everyone,I'm using an STM32H723 for a project with Hall sensor encoders on two BLDC motors.**Hardware:**- Left motor: PE7, PE8, PE9 (U,V,W)- Right motor: PD3, PD4, PD2 (U,V,W)**Problem:**Right motor encoder works perfectly. Left motor has issues:1. Hello, I want to test my FOC algorithm on my hardware, so I designed my own PCB based on the evaluation board of STSPIN32G4, and create an empty project in STM32CubeIDE. I use a voltage regulator to output 12V to my PCB. And I When I was testing the internal driver of STSPIN32G4, I found a problem that whatever I do the voltage of GHS was 5.8v and the voltage of GLS is 0v. I have already tried to let PE8 high level or gnd or a PWM, but the voltage of GHS1 never change. And even I do nothing, just downlowd an empty program to STSPIN32G4, the voltage of three GHS are 5.8v. If I run the empty program, the nFAULT will be high, and if I use the combined output with timer 1 turned on, the nFAULT will be low.I think the waveform of GHS should be consistent with INH, the waveform of GLS should be consistent with INL. So the voltage of GHS and GLS won't be a fixed value. Is my idea correct? How do I know if the internal driver of STSPIN32G4 is

My setup is as follows:12V for the V_MExternal 3.3V for VDD / VDDA / VREF+ / VBAT / VREGINPB8 (BOOT0) with 10K pull-downnRESET with RC-delay circuit: 10K pull-up to 3.3V + 10uF capacitorPower sequence: 12V is applied first to the STSPIN32G4 and L6982N33DR, then L6982N33DR supplies 3.3V to VDDThe problem I'm facing right now is:The MCU starts working (sending UART and running the peripheral devices), but the gate control parts (GHSx & GLSx) remain idle and don’t drive current.I have to manually pull nRESET low again to start the gate control.How can I solve this? I want the chip to automatically start the gate driver at power-up.I also noticed that the EVSPIN32G4 evaluation board shows the same behavior.

I defined a custom board in MC Workbench and generated firmware, and can upload the firmware to the STSPIN without issue. Motor Pilot detects the board, and I can command START/STOP and read values/status.When I press START for either Torque or Speed control, the board enters some ALIGNMENT stage (only the first time) followed by RUN. No behavior is observed with the motor. No faults are ever reported by Motor Pilot. I can STOP and START motor control again and still see no change in behavior.With a scope, after START I see a single pulse on the U phase's gate for around 22 microseconds, then it falls to 0V and remains there. Hello, i found a bug in the code generated by the Motor Control Workbench usign the 6-step algorithm. Even with Open Loop mode enabled, the code is still using the PID for the initial duty cycle computation (state CHARGE_BOOT_CAP in the TSK_MediumFrequencyTaskM1()). If the PID isn't set up right and starts with a low duty cycle, the motor won't turn. This means the Hall sensors don't trigger, the duty cycle never updating, and the motor just sits there even if you set a high duty cycle value. The Open Loop mode shall bypass the PID controller, otherwise it is useless.  I fixed it by changing row 174 of mc_tasks_sixstep.c as follows: from:  MCI_ExecBufferedCommands(&Mci[M1]); /* Exec the speed ramp after changing of the speed sensor */ to: if (SDC_GetOpenLoopFlag(pOLS[M1]))

I recently built a motion-control setup using an STM32 MCU to drive a NEMA 23 stepper via a DM542 driver. STM32 timers reliably generate step pulses while DMA reduces CPU load, enabling smooth microstepping and precise speed control. Key tips: match driver current to motor specs, use a 24–48V stiff supply, keep motor and logic wiring separate, and provide cooling for the driver. Implement trapezoidal acceleration to avoid missed steps and add homing/limit switches for safety. For multi-axis systems, synchronize timers or use an RTOS for higher-level planning. I am using the EVLSPIN32G0B1 demo board and the MC Workbench v6.4.1 software, and I would like to use the FOC control algorithm.More specifically, I would like to use the Hall sensors when the motor starts and operates at low speeds, and then switch to sensorless control at higher speeds.I have read that the library does not support automatic switching, so I will need to implement it manually in the code.How should I proceed?Thank you for your support.

We assembled one drone using STEVAL FCU. 002. board ,  recommended set. of motors and. propellers along with battery. We Chose different. frame.  than. one recommended . I am using ST’s Motor Control Workbench (MCW) version 6.3.2 to control a sliding door. I am using PMSM as motor and FOC as control method. PMSM has 10 pole pairs and there is a 1024 ppr incremental quadrature encoder on it (has not index pin). I am using Nucleo-G474RE, STEVAL-IHM023V3 and X-Nucleo-IHM09M2 boards. I am having trouble with encoder alignment. if I'm not mistaken, ST MCW uses “move till aligned with phase A” method (see attachment) as the encoder alignment. But i have a mechanical limit and this will not allow the motor to perform the needed alignment movements. I have posted this in the motor control forum. Hi there,I am currently trying to create a custom power board in the Board Designer software and I am running into issues. I am using the NUCLEO-G431RB as the control board. In the designer for my custom power board, I have configured pins PB4 (MR27), PC7 (MR19) and PB0 (ML34) as Phase Voltage Generation Pins using the configuration "Driving HighSidesAndOneEnable". When I then try to configure a project, in the project creation phase I get the error "DrivingHighSidesAndOneEnable: No timer matches all signals requirement". However according to CubeMX, on the STM32G431RBTX MCU, all those pins are connected to three TIM3 channels respectively.
