STM32CubeMX2 (MCUs)

I created simple project using STMCubeMX2 for MCU STM32C552. I configured the clock by choosing HSIS on System MUX.  When I compile and run generated code it ends in HardFault_Handler. When using PSIS option - the same result. HSISDiv3 clock works well. When I divide HSIS or PSIS clock by 2 on AHB prescaler it also works.   Any idea? Thank you  

I am trying to learn how to program a STM32 micro-controller, specifically a STM32C593. The thing is according to its datasheet it has Ethernet functionality, bit it is missing in the peripheral list inside STM32CUBEMX2 IDE. 

Hello, I was using CubeMX with CubeIDE and since the release of CubeMX2, VSCode is promoted as the go-to.At the same time, CubeIDE got an update to importe Cmake project. What are the plans ?Will MX2 continue to support CubeIDE with Cmake only ? Will CubeIDE project exports be added to MX2?Or will VSCode be the main target for MX2?In sumary, which workflow will be the best for future dev since ST seems to refactor its whole ecosystem ?

Hello, I noticed that when showing differences between the current and the previous generated source code the width of the source code window does not even show 80 characters even though there is plenty of room in the application window (see screenshot attached). I spent quite a bit of time looking at the HAL source code when debugging and the source code is not formatted to 80 character lines anyway. Sometimes it exceeds 80 by a wide margin.  Would it make sense to show the source code window as a popup or as wide as the application window allows?Thank you,Gil 

Hello, I was wondering where the installed software packs are stored on the disk? I would like to have a look at the content and the examples, assuming e.g. the HAL pack or the Nucleo board pack contains these examples.

Hello, I am using CubeMX2 Version 1.0.0 on macOS Silicon. Various software packs fail to install with a 404 error like this: Could not fetch content of pack-URL: https://developer.st.com/st-pack-server/api/v1/pack/STMicroelectronics.rot_provisioning.2.0.0.pack, got: 404 - Not Found The following packs where tested and failed: rot_provisioning eeprom_emulation mcuboot fileX usbX (now installed via local pack from https://dev.st.com/stm32pc/) Is this an error on my side, similar to the proxy or certification issues I saw in other tickets or are these packs just not available YET? Secondly, I see support packs for e.g. the L4 MCU series: "stm32l4xx_dfp". What is the point of having these packs if CubeMX2 will not support these MCUs?

Hello everyone,I’m trying to develop a new project using an STM32C552RET6 with a TFT display.I’d like to use TouchGFX for this, but I can’t find any instructions in CubeMX2 on how to configure a project as a graphical application.I saw some examples in TouchGFX Designer using the STM32C5, but I got the impression that the integration was done manually.So, does anyone know if CubeMX2 has this functionality?Thanks,Matheus  

I've noticed, that the new STM32C5xx family is not present in the STM32_open_pin_data repo. I know why (MX2 vs MX), but ST, please, keep updating this repo with the new families' data. It's a valuable database for third party tools used to allocate pins in various STM32 designs. Thanks, JW

Hello,   Is there a way to generate code with MX2 by using the CMSIS-RTOS2 API vs the FreeRTOS API? I cannot find a setting in the FreeRTOS configuration to specify that I would like to use the CMSIS-RTOS2 API.   Thank you, -GIl

Unfortunately on my computer the project is not created as packs can't be downloaded, error is the following (in this case for button pack): Error installing STMicroelectronics.button_part_drivers.2.0.0 pack Could not save pack of pack-URL: https://developer.st.com/st-pack-server/api/v1/pack/STMicroelectronics.button_part_drivers.2.0.0.pack, got: Unsupported `GLOBAL_AGENT.HTTP_PROXY` configuration value: URL protocol must be "http:".   I'm behind a proxy (set at system level), and if I use the URL listed I'm able to download and manually install the pack. I tried setting proxy information on MX2 as IP:port with no result. Is there a way to solve this?

Hi @STackPointer64 , I wanted to note one issue related to the 'Save As' feature. After I enter the project name (I2C_new_project_name) and the project repository (/home/gil/.../I2C_new_project_name) I click the Save button. I open the newly created ioc2 file with a text editor and I notice that the source code path is the one of the old project: "CMake": {"outputPath": "I2C_old_project_name_cmake","toolchain": "GCC","exportSource": "include-packs-from-local","removeBoard": true} I was expecting to see the source code path of the new project. Sure enough if I generate the project with this ioc2 file it will write to the I2C_old_project_name_cmake directory.  I edited the ioc2 file  to change the source code path to the new path to fix this issue.   Regards, Gil Original post:

In Debian unstable (forky/sid), I tried to launch STM32CubeMX2 by launcher or command "cube mx start", but noting happened, thought there were process with command "~/.local/share/STMicroelectronics/STM32CubeMX2/resources/stm32cubemx-application/1.0.0/dist/stm32cubemx2 ~/.local/share/STMicroelectronics/STM32CubeMX2/resources/stm32cubemx-application/1.0.0/dist/resources/app/lib/backend/main.js --no-sandbox --allow-multiple-windows --backendTimeout=30000" and process with command "~/.local/share/STMicroelectronics/STM32CubeMX2/resources/stm32cubemx-application/1.0.0/dist/stm32cubemx2 --type=zygote --no-zygote-sandbox --no-sandbox".

I wanted to try out the new STMCubeMX2 with one of the suitable STM32C5 MCU and I get this errorNot sure what does this mean, is there any certificate needed to use STMCubeMX2 ?

Hello,   I would like to learn if there is an easy way in STM32CubeMX2 to start a new project with an existing ioc2 file. It seems that the only way I can do this is make a copy of the ioc2 file, do a text find and replace for the name of the project and reopen the project in MX2. In essence, I like to start a project from a working ioc2 configuration and modify it to work on a fork of the project. Hello, I used MX2 for the last two weeks and it is a great improvement over MX. I build many small projects with it and I am constantly running into a problem related to timer configuration. I enter the values for the Prescaler and the Counter period as Integers and unfortunately when I close the project and reopen MX2 converts the value to Hex (and indicates that it is a Hex value). I keep forgetting that MX2 does this and I enter a new value as an Int thinking that my selection was sticky. Could you make the Int/Hex selection sticky? It's a small issue but it will save developers some trouble. Thank you,Gil

Hello ,   I was planning on using the new STM32C5A3RGT6 for my new project but after reading the comments regarding the stm32cubemx2 , i am reconsidering this decision. I also saw that zephyr is providing support for stm32c5.    My question would be then what would be a good source for learning stm32cubemx2 because coming from stm32cubeide 1.17 it is a big change.

Hi @Ghofrane GSOURI. I just noticed new STM32CubeMX2. It's for STM32C series currently but I downloaded it to check it out. It looks very nice, that's for sure. Yet this topic is about file format. MX2 re-uses .ioc file extension but it's format is strange. It is made of JSON/Python?? multiline strings containing JSON and YAML. I don't understand what format is it exactly. The data inside it is also hard to understand and there is a lot of clutter, like IDs, URIs, URLs, descriptions, etc. Why on earth would somebody put field description text beside field name and value?If I may express may opinion - this is awful. It's even worse than old format. It won't be easy to merge changes in such file. It looks like it's a mash-up of multiple tools/libraries serialized states. CubeMX developers are going to have backward and forward compatibility problems and end users are going to suffer if bugs emerge.I would like to suggest o

In CubeMX2 when configuring the I2S peripheral on an STM32C542 running from a clock of 144MHz and selecting an audio clock rate of 96000Hz, CubeMX2 computes a nearest reachable frequency of 97826Hz (I2SDIV = 23, ODD = 0). When code is generated and run on actual hardware, the HAL2 I2S driver computes a different value of 95744Hz (I2SDIV = 23, ODD = 1). The HAL2 hardware value has less error from the desired 96000Hz than the value reported by CubeMX2, but the CubeMX2 value may be used in designing other aspects of the firmware and result in unexpected performance.    

Hello,I generated a project using STM32CubeMX2 for Nucleo-C5A3ZG and I imported the project using the 'STM32CubeMX2 Project' option into STM32CubeIDE. I can compile and link the code without any issues however I noticed that there is only one build configuration (debug_GCC_NUCLEO-C5A3ZG for my project). Can STM32CubeMX2 also create a release  build configuration?My second related question what is the best way to add compile flags? I managed to add a -DDEBUG flag to the flags.cmake file and it works fine. Is this the right way to do it? Would project regeneration be troubled by this change?Finally, if I opted in for 'Assert checks on function parameters' and 'Assert checks on module state' in STM32CubeMX2 HAL System Init is there a way to only have this functionality enabled only for a debug build? Thank you,Gil 

I noticed that STM32CubeMX2 (DEBUG features page) offers only three debug modes: JTAG 4‑pin, JTAG 5‑pin, and Single Wire Trace Asynchronous.In many practical cases, developers use only the SWCLK and SWDIO lines to save pins, so the absence of a simple Serial Wire option (without Trace) seems to be a limitation of the current STM32CubeMX2 release.This option is still available in STM32CubeMX1 when working with similar MCUs, such as the STM32H5 series.Is this understanding correct?
