STM32CubeProgrammer (MCUs)

Hello,First I want to clarify that STM32CubeProgrammer is a very cool and useful software.The purpose of my question is that in my company we need to integrate a "Firmware Flasher" into one of our Software products since we are not going to indicate our customers to download, install, and use STM32CubeProgrammer to update their device's firmware.I was wondering if there is a sample project or code that uses libusb (preferably in C or C++), that I can use as a reference to develop a firmware flasher. I say ideally in C and C++ but if it is not in any of these languages that is ok. I can just translate it from whatever to C++ using ChatGPT.Thanks!

Currently I tried STM32Programmer_CLI and ST-LINK_CLI, both more than 100 times slower than StmStudio - StLink - SWD - MCU. The solution can only work up to 4Hz with 1 mcu and less with >1 mcu. StmStudio can run at least 250Hz with more exchanged data.I tried this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\STMicroelectronics\STM32Cube\STM32CubeProgrammer\bin\STM32_Programmer_CLI.exe" -c port=SWD sn={serialNumber} mode=HOTPLUG speed=Fast -r8 0x20000000 0x8"I need to run up to 20 mcu's simultaneously (6 is minimum), at least one must exchange data faster than 10Hz, prefer >50Hz, the rest can run 1Hz or sub 1Hz. Must be able to be addressed by StLink serialnumber.Mcu firmware is locked so far. Mcu Hardware (circuit/PCB) is locked, so stuck with SWD, no USB/serialport.Would another interface improve interface speed, e.g. Segger J-Link?I am currently trying to get StLink-lib.dll working, will it be faster? Please note, I am a hardware design

Hi,Updated from 2.15 today. Having DFU download problem seen attached.Board is recognised but upper right still stated as "Not connected" and download fails.Downgraded to V2.15 and same board connects and downloads OK. OS: W10 64bitBoard: STM32F767NI custom FyiTimucin KANATLI 

The command line STM32_Programmer_CLI looks for a database file using a relative path "../Data_Base/STM32_Prog_DB.xml". Our customer attempted to update the firmware on their device which uses an STM32L433CC. Programming failed to erase and download the firmware on the device. STM32CubeProgrammer 1.4.0 succeeded in programming the device.Customer is using a Windows 11 machine with STM32CubeProgrammer 2.16.0.I have verified that the break occured somewhere between 2.14.0 and 2.16.0 as 2.13.0 works. I have also verified that the behavior is both OS-independent and GUI-independent as I experience the same failure on Linux with 2.16.0 STM32_Programmer_CLI.This is clearly not a hardware issue, but something wrong with the DFU implementation in STM32CubeProgrammer 2.16.0.A log file from the failure on Linux is attached. 

I would like to create a Python GUI application based on PySide6. Within the application, I want to embed the funcionality to flash STM32 devices using STM32_Programmer_CLI.exe command line tool.The STM32_Programmer_CLI.exe comes with an installation of STM32CubeProgrammer. Hello All,I am sort of new to STM32 programming, so I got confused with bootloader operation.I am using STM32G0 series MCU. Currently I am working on a functionality to program firmware using UART. As a part of this task I am playing with the option bytes. I noticed the following: If I connect to the board using ST-Link then the option bytes have different value than if I connect using UART. Moreover, if I change option bytes in ST-Link I cannot notice those changes if I then disconnect and connect with UART. And vice versa - changing anything while connected via UART is not seen if the OPB are then read from ST-Link. Additionally it seems that only changes made via ST-Link have real effect. What I mean is that if we are in a bootloader (nBOOT_SEL = 1, nBOOT1 = 1, nBOOT0=0) then rewriting nBOOT0=1 using ST-Link has an effect and the board starts normally. However if same is done via UART then nothing changes. It looks like we are still hanging in a bootload

Hello, I am trying to use STM32CubeProgrammer with a J Link interface to program a STM32G473 MCU.But CubeProgrammer seems to be stuck while programming.I can read the MCU flash, erase it, but not program.I tried with another MCU (STM32G0B1) and it works with that one.But I can't with G473...I am using the latest CubeProgrammer version 2.17.0 for Windows 64-bit and the latest J Link tools (8.10).Is there a bug in CubeProgrammer? Do I need to do something more to program a G473? Thanks for your help

Hi,We are using STM32_Programmer_CLI on windows and linux.I noticed that since version 2.16 following commands fails:STM32_Programmer_CLI -c port=SWD freq=8000 sn=x mode=UR -e ed1 & ed2with:Error: The erase command you trying to perform is missing some arguments. Please refer to the Help to see how to use it. It worked fine on version 2.15. I've looked into any api changes for newer version in release notes but I couldn't find any relevant changes that could affect this behavior. For me, it looks like this is potential bug/regression. Let me know if me guess is correct or we need to adjust params added to command.Thx

1. I have encountered a problem when trying to use B-U585I-IOT02A board with the default external loader available in stm32cubeprogrammer (M25LM51245G_STM32U585I-IOT02A). There is an error when trying to read, or write external flash memory, but erase seems to work fine. I am attaching the error screenshot.From my program (FW - not external loader) external flash works well. What could I have done wrong? I'm using V.2.16.0 to set the option bytes for the STM32G031, but NRST_MODE and IRHEN are not showing in the OB section.There is a report for the same issue for the STM32G030 with the accepted solution being that the G030 does not officially support these options. However, that is not the case for the G031 as the options are documented in §3.7.8 of the reference manual.

Windows 7, getting the Cube Programmer API dependency missing error pop-up. STM32CubeProgrammer version 2.17.0Target STM32G491, device ID 0x0479, 512KB flashWhen loading a large hex file (284kB), the programmer tries to erase 65293 sectors!  There's only 256 sectors in target, and the image only needs 141 sectors erased.We also use the internal flash to storage some settings of the device. These settings are erased when using version 2.17. We tried this earlier with version 2.13 and no problem was detected. See attached log files of both version 2.13 and 2.17 Please provide help.Thanks, EG

Hello everyone,I'm encountering an issue while using an external loader to program an external flash memory (MX25L6433F) on an STM32H563IGK6 board. My objective is to access this external flash (OCTOSPI1) with DFU for operations like erasing, writing, and reading, specifically to download my application into the external flash.However, when I run the command using STM32CubeProgrammer via the command line, the program loads a bootloader named "STM32H7RS-DK" instead of using my custom bootloader, which is already running on the board.I have a few questions regarding this behavior:Why does STM32CubeProgrammer choose to load this "STM32H7RS-DK" bootloader? I understand it is a secure bootloader, but I'm unclear on why it's being selected.Does this mean my custom bootloader will be ignored or replaced?What exactly does this choice of bootloader by the program mean, and how can I access my external flash (erase, write, read) while still using my own

The new version 2.17 of STM32CubeProgrammer feels a bit glitchy.It appears something is queuing or delaying messageboxes, such that a lot of messageboxes appear after it finally succeeds with something. Or it can start many operations in the background. Something is off. But most importantly: it does not erase lock bits properly of the STM32F407Eventually it does something. But throws a lot of messageboxes on the way.Is this known?

I'm trying to use the STM32CubeProgrammer with the newly supported J-Link settings, but can't seem to get it to work.I'm using:STM32CubeProgrammer: v2.17.0STM32H573I-DKSEGGER J-Link PLUS: SEGGER J-Link Commander V8.10c (Compiled Oct 16 2024 16:20:30)I have set the External Debug jumper JP1, and have connected my SEGGER to the DK. Hi, I hope someone can help me with this.I am using STM32CubeProgrammer 2.16.0 with an NUCLEO-H563ZI and Ubuntu 23.10. Programming, reading Registers seems to work. STM32CubeProg halts or runs my running or halted MCU approx every second depending on the mode Setting of the ST-LINK, no matter what state the MCU was before.The Problem happens with the already preinstalled SW or my own SW. ST-Link Firmwareversion on the NUCLEO Board got updated to V3j13M4  With mode HOTPLUG it halts, reads PC, and continues execution.
