Posted on February 03, 2017 at 11:30Hello, I am using L298N motor driver in parallel mode.But while running the motor L298N IC heats too much and suddenly stop. Motor specification are as follows:- Voltage=12V, Stall current=50A, Rated current=5A. CanMotor specification are as follows:- Voltage=12V, Stall current=50A, Rated current=5A. Can I use Sense resistor for current limiting? If yes then how do I calculate the value of Rs?Please help me.#l298

Is there a proper sequence to restart the charge pump frequency? Posted on January 26, 2017 at 16:29I notice that the EVAL6472 is a 4 layer PCB.  Similarly, sparkfun has an evaluation board for the L6470 that is also a 4 layer PCB.  My question:  Is there some significance or layout best practice that requires a 4 layer PCB with the L6472 device?  Would you foresee any issues if I roll my own L6472 stepper driver board using a 2 layer PCB?#stepper-driver #l6470 #l6472 #pcb-layout #stepper-motor

Posted on January 31, 2017 at 10:34We got a problem with a specific motor:With the standard connection one direction of rotation has a significant lower torque and also at 2 specific hall sensor states the current to the coil is switched off !Changing the connection of the motor coils and Hall sensors ( OUT1-> coil2, OUT2->coil3, OUT3-> coil1 and the hall connections the same) cures the problem.What is the reason for that ?There is no hint in the data sheet, no hint in an application note. Also when i tried to get in contact with ST i failed.  ST seems to have the philosophy 'our products, your problem' To get in contact with a FAE is impossible whether trying via distributors or even with a desperate call to ST headquarter here in Germany. I regret very much to use a Product from ST because if there is an (even serious) problem one ist left alone! Worst support ever !

Posted on January 28, 2017 at 23:20I am designing a board with L6206 drivers for solenoids.  My board is using connectors with a 3-amp per pin maximum, so I chose the 6206 for its ability to set a conservative 3 amp shutdown limit on the high side using an external resistor.  Unfortunately these parts do not have over-current or short protection on the low side.  What is the best, simplest way to augment the typical application circuit for protection on the low side?  I am using the part initially as four separate half-bridges for driving solenoids (so the high-side current limit is split between two solenoids on each bridge), and would like to protect the chip, by deactivating the low-side switches, if the output gets shorted to a 12V supply.Here are a couple ideas:1. A comparator on a low-side sense resistor pulling the enable pin low alongside the high-side overcurrent shutdown pin;2. Posted on January 28, 2017 at 09:48Hi. I am Ph.D. Student work on design, analysts and contrl 5-Phase PMSM mtor. I used STGIPS20C60 SLLIMMâ„¢ small low-loss intelligent module IPM, 3-phase inverter - 20 A, 600 V short-circuit rugged IGBT to feed this motor. I am using d-Space to control the 5-Phase PMSM motor. D- space gives ten PWM signal to control the motor. Six of these signal are produced as three couples with a dead time to control three legs of a three phase IPM. The other. 4 PWM signals without a dead time. I used two STGIPS20C60 to feed the 5- phase motor. My question is it save to feed the second STGIPS20C60 IPM with two PWM signals of the same phase with a zero dead- time, or I need to add an additional circuit to inject a dead time.

Seriously, it's been over a year since they went into production yet every distro who sells them are reporting manufacturing delays, and when you contact them it's the same old thing 'we've been trying to get information out of ST regarding these chips for some time now and they never get back to us'.Mouser are currently reporting a manufacturing lead time of 28 WEEKS!? They state that they currently have 934 on order and that the estimated dispatch date was 11/08/2016... Does anyone have any info or news on this? I'm sure I'm not the first or only person to say this, but at this rate I'm going to have to redesign everything we currently have that uses these elusive chips...#stepper-motor-driver #powerstep01

Posted on December 27, 2016 at 21:18Project: Make one full bridge (non-isolated) rectifier, using two L6491EVAL boards as the gate drivers (the switching transistors mounted to them are FCH190N65F).  Initial testing approach: test the full bridge rectifier circuit as a DC-DC converter (just to verify functionality) by applying 10VDC to the input, vary the PWM duty cycle to each gate driver board, and then measure the output voltage (it should increase as the duty cycle increases).  Just for safety/sanity, my 10VDC input source is current limited to 1 amp, and there is no load on the output of the full bridge.  Problem: With Vin=10VDC, and star

Posted on November 30, 2016 at 08:24The releaseSW command is behaving erratically.We have our own PCB based on ST design. On Power up GoUntil is executed. Limit Switch used is Omron EE-SX951-W. GoUntil never fails and SW input is detected correctly all the time.After GoUntil, ReleaseSW and Move are executed. Sometimes (unpredictably) ReleaseSW and Move are not executed. Appreciate inputs for trouble-shooting this behavior.   

Posted on May 31, 2016 at 03:18From the literature, the abs_pos value is a 22 bit 2's complement integer. but when i move the position above 32768 (16 bit 2s complement maximum), the value resets to negative. I.e. the abs_pos value acts as a 16 bit 2s complement value. Additionally, using the dSPIN_Move command and using the dSPIN_BUSY to check to make sure it's finished with the move, the busy pin will go high early and the move will not finish. I.e. i will send a dSPIN_Move(''FWD'',4000) and it will only move so far, then stop without completing the commanded move from the abs_pos before the dSPIN_BUSY goes high. Has anyone else has these issues? Some guidance would help, besides these issues, the product works great.attached is data output from the abs_pos (see line 28774 for example of it ending early) and sample code of how i'm commanding it. #l6470

Posted on January 12, 2017 at 08:51Hi AllI am currently testing a power supply system with a bulk power supply backplane (30V, 12A) and cards that slot in on the backplane. The cards come in various different flavors (24V, 12V, 5V) all using L7986A as the SMPS. The 24V has its own layout (board) while the 12V and 5V use the same board, just configured for the different voltages. All the boards seem to be very susceptible to inrush current when turning the system on. In most cases, the L7986 literally burns with smoke, and sometimes flames. I am sure it is not a voltage spike. A small value resistor (high wattage) or NTC seems to alleviate the problem, although I am still not happy with the solution. I have used the L7986 on numerous other designs never experiencing this problem.Any help or ideas are welcome. I can post more information and schematics if required.Best RegardsHenro Ritchie

It was found on sp0812n samgung 80 gb hddand was soldered through due to overvoltage from psu. Now I need to relace it, but I cannot find any info in the internet on bux series tvs (just the 543- is date marking).So I want to ask for what another tvs I could replace, could it be any 12v tvs or similar ones? Can you provide any technical characteristics of bux c543 type tvs?For example data-sheet?What is critical electrical characteristics of it?On the internet forum I was proposed to use SMBJ12A diode,is it appropriate replacement. My master after unsoldering defect bux c543replaced it temporarily for M545 16a -- could it work temporarily?

But if I send brightness data to first driver, a second driver takes that data too. And if I try send brightness data for each driver, both of them listens only second packet.
