Posted on July 05, 2016 at 11:11Hi,I have been using an microchip explorer16 board with the EVAL6470H board and working fine. Swapped over to my design PCB and there is a peculiar fault where when the CS pin is high the SDI at the L6470 works normally switching 0-3V3, however as soon as the CS pin goes low this pulls down the SDI signal to 0-0.5V. I lifted the SDI pin and the signal returns to 3V3, so I assumed that I had overheated the chip soldering it to the board and replaced with another new IC. But the fault is still there, my code is stripped right back to just setting the CS & SDI pins high and low and I can't think what it would be any ideas please?Thanks #l6470-cs-sdi-spi-problems

Posted on June 30, 2016 at 22:42I have two EVAL6470PD boards that I will be using to drive the stepper motors in an XY stage. They will be controlled from a PIC32 board through SPI.  Is there any performance or noise immunity advantage to using an external 3.3 vdc supply for the Vdd voltage vs using the internal Vreg to supply the EVAL6470PD logic?As a separate issue, I do not understand why the SW (external switch) input is treated differently in the on the EVAL6470PD board vs the EVAL6470H board. The value of R8 (the series resistor between the SW pad on the board and the SW input of the device) is 100 ohm in the 6470H version and 10K in the 6470PD version.  It seems to me that the 10K value is much too high.Thanks,Bob #eval6470pd

Posted on June 27, 2016 at 13:35Hi at all, is there someone with an idea what has happened there with the L6470. I´ve attached 2 photos of the demaged device and on picture of the scematic sheet. It looks like the motor bridges are directly shorted to GND. The connected stepper motor is working well with an impedance of about 2.4Ω of each coil. The supply voltage of VSAx and VSBx is 35.5V.Thanks for your help!

And now, i wanna sample ADC on timer1 overflow when PWM-ON (PWM run in PWM mode 1 and Center-Aligned3). I get an issue: Timer 1 overflow/underflow not correctly. Timer overflow isnt between in 2 times TCNT match Compare value (offset about 2us) and underflow the same. My pwm run at 20kHz.Have you get the same problem?Thank you very much.

To keep the two motor synchronised, the OSCout of the first driver of the chain feeds the OSCin of the second driver; the clock frequency is 16MHz. Attached you can find the schematic. Posted on June 17, 2016 at 22:37 i bought two different ST motor eval boards connected to the STEVAL-PCC009V2; eval6470PD and eval6474PD. the eval6470PD works fine but i want to use the eval6474PD for technical reasons ( current vs volt control). the eval6474PD does not work. I requested a second replacement and it also does not work using the STSPIN windows control. Signal look ok but not motor movement #l6474

Posted on June 16, 2016 at 18:11After having solved the main issue with my PCB some weeks ago, I'll open a new thread so as to avoid making a mess now things are different. I'm still working on a sensorless (HFI) IPMSM which should run between 0-90RPM with a STM32F4xx. The HFI algorithm estimates the angle successfully and I can control the motor quite ok (both in Torque mode and Speed mode). The problem I'm having right now is that the motor sometimes starts running in the wrong direction. If I apply a positive torque, the motor turns in the right direction and returns a positive speed, but if I give it zero torque (not necessarily a Stop Motor command) and then again a positive torque, after a couple of attempts it goes in the opposite direction. The algorithm detects a negative speed in this case, the angle evolution is shown as it actually is, but stays in this direction until I give it zero torque and try the procedur

Posted on June 15, 2016 at 17:24Hello again,As an update I got my Development Board working blinking a light. I noticed that increasing the pulse frequency in HIN/LIN causes the Gate pulse width to change. The input is symmetrical to the output until about 10 kHz. Further increasing the drive frequency causes the top transistor (Q1) duty cycle to increase while the bottom transistor (Q2) duty cycle decreases. After about 20 kHz the gate shuts off. My dead-time pot is set to 150 kHz (2 uS) and comparator pot is set to 430 Ohms. Attached screenshots show CH1 the microprocessor PWM signal and CH2 is the gate drive oscillating. The first image is the Gate drive of Q2 and the second image is looking at the Gate drive of Q1,  both running at 10 kHz. See here: http://imgur.com/a/JipU2

Posted on July 15, 2015 at 22:01A colleague and I noticed something unusual when we were using an L6474 to drive a stepper motor.When the motor was stationary, we observed pulses on both of the motor phases.  This presumably corresponds to the PWM pattern used to generate the holding torque.  When the motor was in motion though, we only observed pulses on one of the phases.  This doesn't seem right, so what might be going on?I ask because we are trying to diagnose this unusual issue in which the motors stall at a lower speed than what we would expect.

The STEVAL-ILL035V1 board describes all the electrical parts, schematics, but nothing about protocol and programming! Where can I found explanations of this protocol or the source code of the STM32 from the STEVAL-ILL035?

Posted on May 25, 2016 at 10:08I am evaluating HVLED001 IC’s demo board (STEVAL-ILL069V1) which I found that such demo board have difficulty to power up if the output is loaded (even as low as 50mA). To operate the board I have to power up the unit with no load first and then apply the load, which is really impractical.When such demo board is directly power up with load by probing some signals I can found the followings: The IC is hiccuppingThe FB pin voltage stay high (> its OFP level of 2.95V) all the time.Vcc pin (hence switching) is oscillating between its ON and OFF threshold of 13.2 and 9.2V.I tried to extend the softstart time but it didn’t help.a)      May I know what may help to fix this issue?b)      Is this phenomenal is only happening with primary side regulation, with loading output Vsec amplitu

Posted on May 03, 2016 at 15:27Hi all,Regarding to L6480 datasheet, STEP_MODE register has SYNC_EN bit and SYNC_SEL. if SYNC_EN bit is set high, then SYNC output provides a clock signal according to the SYNC_SEL parameter. the sync signal is obtained starting from electrical position info EL_POS register.I am quite understand how does this work. Can someone explain it more. Lets say SYNC_EN = 1; SYNC_SEL = 000; what should I expect BUSY/SYNC output provides?Thank you in advance #l8480-busy/sync-output

The problem is that stepper motor does not recieve any impulses. I cheched it with oscilloscope and it also showed that there are no voltage impulses.

You can find in the attachment a pdf print from the eDesign Suite.The Cin that I'm using is: C1210C335K5RACTUThe L is: B82477G4153MThe Cout is: LMK325BJ476MM-POn pin 2 I'm getting pulses with around 500kHz which is OK.But, the waveform that I'm getting on pin 1, which is also attached, has additional pulses that are strange to me.For output currents greater than 1.5A the power supply is not working. The output voltage drops to around 4V and it is unstable.I run out of ideas, please tell me your thoughts.  #a7986a

Posted on April 25, 2016 at 08:45Hi all, We are using VIPer12A in our Flyback isolated SMPS. The circuit starts at minimum 20Vrms. There is no information about the minimum Vrms value that the IC starts. The datasheet says IC starts working Vddon which is normally 14,5Vdc. So we re supplying our IC from the aux winding of transformer. I wonder if the transformation value of the transformer is good enough to supply that Vddon (14,5V) at lower Input AC voltages Can IC start? Our purpose is to make an SPMS that works both 24Vdc and the wide range AC voltages. Is this possible?
