Posted on October 04, 2017 at 11:52Hi,Currently the defaults set for STM32F042 in STM32CubeMX v4.22.1, FW 1.9.0 for USB CDC will not compile after generation.This is because the USB CDC Rx and Tx Buffers are set to 2048B each by default, which is too much considering the micro has 6kB RAM. In previous versions this was set to the minimum 4B and caused no problems (at least for me).Can you please update the defaults to be compilable by default?Thanks P.S. Posted on July 02, 2017 at 02:49I am using STM32CubeMX 4.21.0 with the STM32L4 HAL library version 1.8.1.It seems that the Src/usb_device.c includes code with customization points (e.g. HAL_PCDEx_BCD_Callback() has a user code comment block) but there are no customization points within the file at global scope for adding things like headers, variables, function declarations or definitions.  Is this an oversight?Please add customization points at global scope in this file.#stm32l4 #stm32cubemx #pcd

But i always get 'No software site found at..(Directory)'. I have tryid different versions of the STM32CubeMx aswell and I get the same result. What do i do? I run the TrueStudio 9.0.0. Posted on February 02, 2017 at 11:40The ST HAL should make programming STM32 microcontrollers easier. After all, it is a 'Hardware Abstraction Layer'. It provides an interface to the user, so he doesn't need to manipulate the hardware registers directly.An abstraction layer is called 'leaky' when its interface isn't sufficient, such that the user needs to dig deeper into the low-level stuff. The failure of an abstraction layer generally has two causes:(1) BugsI didn't bumb into bugs in the ST HAL. It looks like the code is of good quality and well-maintained.(2) Lacking documentationThis is definitely the weakest point of the ST HAL. Having public issue tracker will simplify the situation with reporting all issues and tracking their status.Idally, having public source code of STM32CubeMX can also atract community to fix these issues and send Pull Requests to ST developers. Waiting more then year (or forever) for fixing a bug is not ideal situation.What do you think, ST?#bug #stm32cubemx

Posted on May 16, 2017 at 12:51I'm using STMCubeMX 4.21.0 to generate custom USB HID project. My device needs to send frequent HID reports, therefore it calls USBD_CUSTOM_HID_SendReport every 1-10ms.This function always returns USBD_OK, even if previous report is not transmitted - in this case it just ignores new report. It becomes a problem because there is no way for user code to check if data was successfully transmitted or another attempt is required.I've implemented a local workaround in this function: it returns USBD_BUSY when hhid->state == CUSTOM_HID_BUSYBut this change is not in user modifiable area, therefore this change is lost on every project re-generation in CubeMX.Am I missing something, is there any other good way to work around this issue?#cubemx-usb-hid

Posted on February 21, 2018 at 14:08I am trying to use the latest CubeMX V4.24 with FatFS R0.12c, I am using FreeRTOS in my project. The SD card is connected using SDIO 4-bits wide bus. The MCU is STM32F427. HAL driver is V1.19.The problem is that f_mount function is never working. Seems that a response from queue never comes in function SD_read from sd_diskio.c file:event = osMessageGet(SDQueueID, SD_TIMEOUT);I was able to make f_mount work OK by applying suggestions described in this post, which refers to CubeMX V4.23: https://community.st.com/0D50X00009XkWyLSAV, however now creation of a file does not work.Can you suggest anything?P.S. Posted on February 16, 2018 at 22:35I just upgraded to CubeMx 4.24 and attempted to migrate a STM32F7 project .ioc file. The migration failed with a Java null pointer exception when it reached the CAN IP portion.To verify my .ioc file was not the culprit, I created a new project and the issue persisted. Here are the steps to reproduce: Start CubeMx 4.24, create new projectSelect STM32F745VET for processorSave project, Close CubeMxRe-Open CubeMx, attempt to open file previously created -- opens successfully.Add Ethernet IP, allow clock tab to auto-resolve clock tree issuesSave project, Close CubeMxRe-Open CubeMx, attempt to open file previously created -- throws null pointer exception and uses 100% CPUHere is the topmost portion of the stack trace when it throws the exception:2018-02-16 16:29:02,320 [INFO] UtilMem:68 - End LoadConfig() Used Memory: 26957959

Posted on February 26, 2014 at 01:38I was able to download and install the STM32CubeMX plugin from ST (stsw-stm32095.zip) into my Eclipse 64-bit Kepler SR-1 software on a Linux 64-bit machine.  Opening the perspective created a problem - An internal error of ''../plugins/com.st.microxplorer.rcp_4.0.0.201402191421//db/plugins/projectmanager/linux/64/toolgen.so not found'' message came up.  Looking through the jar files in the zip file, it appears that only Windows dlls (32 and 64) can be found in the projectmanager directory of the plugin. The slightly older version of microxplorer (pre-STM32CubeMX) dated from Sept 2013 was able to run, in it's own limited way, without hitting this type of error. Was Linux just overlooked with this plugin, or is it really just for Windows only? #bug #stm32cubemx #stm32cubemx-eclipse-linux

Posted on February 13, 2018 at 16:25I have a project for STM32F446 generated by CubeMX.After changing some pins and re-generated the code, it builds successfully but the debugger settings in the uvoptx file are broken: Keil's debugger cannot connect and shows 'unknown target' in debugger settings. But it sees the ST-Link dongle and its serial number.The solution for me was to restore the uvoptx file from backup. It may be caused by the recent CubeMX update (4.24) or not, I'm not sure.Another suspicious thing after CubeMX update is that it inserts spaces between components of include path in Keil project (uvprojx). But Keil does not mind...Hope this may help to others with the debugger issue, I've lost a lot of time today checking all cables, boards etc.Regards,-- pa#cubemx-4.24 #keil-uvision

Although for some reason I cant use the LinkDriver function.I have the function setup as if(FATFS_LinkDriver(&SD_Driver, SDPath)==0) and when it enters, it fails because disk.nbr seems to always be 1 no matter what I do.Does anyone know what could be causing this? I have one sdcard connected in 4bit sdio mode.A little stumped as it seems to be linked before I even call the function. I also dont have the MX_FATFS_Init(); in the code, so it couldn;t be linked there. Posted on August 11, 2017 at 09:39The enforced project and directory structures created are seriously limiting especially when trying to use STM32CubeMx for defining boards which can run multiple applications or when trying to use the code generated as a library for board functionality, including not being able to generate board.h and board.c instead of main.h and main.c for for encapsulating startup code.  These 'perceived' limitations make it impossible to use STM32CubeMx to maintain these initialisations except for very small projects.  #stm32cubemx
