Posted on October 29, 2014 at 15:54Hi, I'm new to L6472 here, and from reading its datasheet, I think it would be a perfect fit to my application which will need to drive a NEMA34 motor to go relative high speed (such as 12 rotations per sec.).  I've been reading AN4158 which is related to L6472 and am puzzled by some of the concepts there, could someone help explain? thanks! Sam *) The concept of target switching time (it sets the target PWM frequency of the control system) is not clear to me,?what's the relationship between this parameter and the step speed (or step period)? (or is there any relationship between these two parameters?) And why it's better to have a fixed PWM frequency? is this PWM frequency the same PWM that creates the microstepped phase currents in microstep mode? *) it seems to make auto adjusted decay and predictive current control work,

The motor parameters can be found herehttp://catalog.orientalmotor.com/item/all-categories-legacy-products/tegories-pk-series-2-phase-stepping-motors-legacy-/pk296a2a-sg36 I am going to be using it in the Bipolar configurationI = 2.1V = 2R = .96I tried the L6470 which did not work with this motor. The torque was bad even at low speeds and the chip got really hot.  I am new at trying to match a driver to a motor so any help would be appreciated.

Posted on August 17, 2017 at 07:06We have purchased 10 qty of STL160NS3LLH7 MOSFET IC. We found that Drain to source impedance of MOSFETs is varying( NOTE : MOSFET were not connected to any external circuitry while measuring impedance using DMM). For some of the MOSFETs it was around 1kOhm for others it was 2kOhm and 3kOhm also. I am not getting same performance with all the MOSFETs. I think that this because of this variation in Drain to source impedance. I have never seen such a peculiar behavior of MOSFETs. Is it a manufacturing problem or these MOSFETs behave like this only? Please explain!

Posted on August 08, 2017 at 12:15I am using L99MM70XP SBC.I have one question about Half-Bridge Output.Below Condtions, I think that All Half-Bridge output is Low (Open States)All High-Side / Low-Side Switch is Open. I think that PIN output Value is Low.(0 Volts)But, Result is All Output is High (In Case Vbat Voltage is 13V , All Output Voltage is 13.5V)Who can explain the above the result?

Posted on August 21, 2017 at 12:34Hiho,there are still remaining hints of stall/step loss detection (for example at the description of the FLAG pin) in the datasheets of the above mentioned ICs although they are only implemented in the L6480/L6470. That way we only realized that these features are not implemented after we were quite far into a project. Posted on August 14, 2017 at 05:21 Hello I want to control ST's snubberless triac (T435-800) directly from MCU (STM32F0). According to AN3168 (article 2.4), I've to connect AC main (220V, 50Hz) supply with the control circuit's Vdd. In AN392, I found the same that illustrate triac control with negative power supply, but uses capacitive dropper. Actually, I didn't understand what's going on there after connecting AC main with +5V DC. Why not the control circuit get affected by the AC main? All I want to do the same as AN392, but wants to use SMPS (STEVAL-ISA010V1, based on Viper16). Is it okay to connect SMPS's positive terminal directly to AC main? or Do I need anything else such as diode clipper? Thanking you. #triac #smps

Posted on August 04, 2017 at 15:32Hi everyone,I have a weird problem with the powerstep01 on a X-NUCLEO-IHM03A1. I want to change to driver parameters KVAL_HOLD, KVAL_RUN, KVAL_ACC, KVAL_DEC, INT_SPEED, ST_SLP, FN_SLP_ACC, FN_SLP_DEC. All works as expected as long as I use a single board. However, if I use use a stack of three boards in a daisy chain I can only change KVAL_HOLD, KVAL_RUN, KVAL_ACC, KVAL_DEC while the other parameters remain unchanged. All motors are stopped and HiZ.Any help is much appreciated.#powerstep01-stepper-motor-driver #powerstep01

The stepper motor that I am driving is a PK296A2A-SG36.Resistance (Ω/phase) = .96 [Bipolar (Series)]Inductance (mH/phase) = 6 [Bipolar (Series)]Voltage (VDC) = 2 [Bipolar (Series)]Current per Phase (A/Phase) = 2.1 per phaseI am using a 24V supply.I used those values to get my Kval like this:For full current:Kval = (.96 * 2.1) / 24 = .084%Kval is an 8 bit register so I found 20/255 = .08 so the register value should be 20 it I want to use the full 2.1 amps. When I use this value the L6470 gets really hot.Currently I am only giving it the command run(1, 75) so it is quite low. It even gets hot when running at half kval = 10. I am not sure what is going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have some questions regarding the functionality of the IC, which I could not clarify by looking into the datasheet (this is the only document I could get for this IC) or via other topics in the forum. The questions are: 1) The L9906 has a shoot through protection functionality. In our case, the value for the duration of the shoot through protection is always set to 100-200 ns. Until now, I had the feeling that the L9906 adds this 100-200 ns ON TOP of the dead time of my switching signals, which are the input signals for the L9906. Is that correct? Furthermore I have the question: The declaration of 100-200 ns from the datasheet still give still a range for the duration of this additional dead time. I want to quantify the real dead time, which I have in my PWM. And I don't know now, which is the value that is add

I connected a circuit like this, and got Vd = 12V. The Vd is supposed to be something near 0V. Is there anything wrong with the model?Thank You#mosfet

Posted on July 24, 2017 at 09:41Hello,I am trying to implement microstepping on a X-NUCLEO-IHM05A1, which i am using with an Arduino uno. I have followed the microstepping application note, and i obtained the right waveforms at l6208 references' input pins. Here you can see the waveforms obtained with my oscilloscope. Of couse the sinusoidal waveforms have been probed at the onboard low pass filter's output. 1 and 2 are respectively the waveforms for refA and refB, while 3 is the Clock signal fed to the shield.

But i see that max power out is 350w. if i do same smps 3 pieces and i want to get 1050w can i connect their outputs in parallel connection? because i see that it is not basic thing. one smps gives 10A the other give 2A  for this i want they share current value equal. for example i need 30A. and i want 10a/smps give poweris there a way or is there a calculator half or full bridge?thanks

If not, what limit the MAX Voltage of this board?Is there

After initialization a hard stop command is given to hold the stepper motor, which seems to work just fine, all the expected waveforms appear on the gates of the transistors. When a move command of 128 micro-steps are given the bridge disengaged with no errors in the status register. After a hard HiZ command and another hard stop command the status register shows an over current fault and phase loss A and B faults!
