Posted on August 10, 2017 at 01:28Sorry if this is a simple question; I'm new to motor control.I have the STEVAL-PCC009V2 and four EVAL6470Hs. I would like to drive them all at the same time. I saw in the user manual that you can't do that in the GUI, since it can only send one command to one device at a time. Is there an alternative method to do this? In my application I am planning to use two stepper drivers L6470PD for different stepper motors but driven from the same MCU. Question is the following: Can I share among those two drivers status lines like: FLAG/BUSY/STCK/STBY/SW and by pulling low the CS line define which driver I wanted to use at this moment? Or I should treat the FLAG/BUSY/STCK/STBY/SW lines dedicated for each individual stepper driver.  So in other words plan to use only 5GPIO for two drivers or 10GPIO pins on MCU. Thank you very much in advanceJacek #l6470

Posted on March 09, 2015 at 08:41Hi, I am facing an issue where it seems the L6470 drops the most-significant bit of each byte transferred when I GetParam ABS_POS. Here is a screenshot of the SPI comminucation during the last byte transferred when the ABS_POS is at 0.  To me, L6470 is writing 0000 0001 (binary) to the line.  It seems only 7 bits are transferred before the SO goes back HIGH... or L6470 is seeing the rising CK edge prior to the CS low event.  When I zoom in, I see the CK goes HIGH on the first edge approx. 30ns before CS low. Does anyone see anything in this image that helps explain

Posted on February 07, 2018 at 17:52Hi,I want to compute the resonant circuit formula to have the right value for C :I use the STEVAL-ISB039V1 kit with transmitter and receiver boardFirst mistakes with inductive and capacitors values :If I use the fomula for resonant frequency :Fd = 1 / ( 2 * pi * racine ( L1 * ( 1 /( 1/C1 +1/C2 ) ) ) from STM STWLC03 datasheet, page 49/56with the kit values : L1 is 12.3uH and C1= 304nF, C2=3.3nFL1+C1+C2 form a serial circuit and 1 / (1/C1 + 1/C2) is a basic formula to have Ceq from 2 Capacitor in serial..But Fd gives : 794 KHz !! (I use the kit's values !)If I compute the transmitter Fs I have 138KHz (That's the right value I think..)Do you have any idea about the mistakes ??My goal is to change the Rx antenna and compute new capacitor tuning value at receiver side, but first, with kit's value I don't have the right value..

Posted on January 01, 2018 at 12:06Stepper Motor Driver IC POWERSTEP01:We implemented  POWERSTEP01 on our own PCB.We are sending command to POWERSTEP01 through on board STM32F072 microcontroller through SPI.When we send StepClock  command with direction that is 0x58 or 0x59 . The motor shaft gets HOLD but it change the position of the Shaft.We are finding the reason behind the change of position of the motor shaft after applying stepclock command.#powerstep01 #stepper-motor #stepclockmode

Posted on February 05, 2018 at 10:55Hello, I use STSW-SPIN3202 to drive our own motor, the maximum speed is about 1800RPM(12V, 40A, max speed 2400RPM), but I use other motor driver, it can drive above to 2400RPM. When the motor's speed is above 1800RPM drived by the STSW-SPIN3202, it will stop the motor without any error message.I want to know what can I do.Thanks

This is the first time I use voltage mode and I faced some problemes with this mode: Is this mode could noly work at low speed? I run the motors with 1300step/s, the current wave is nice, but at 1500step/s, the wave is distortion, although the motor is runing, but it would like to shake the desk damaged, here is what I captured:

According to the data sheet, this function is not available, but what if I write the register h14 and read the status register (bit 13, bit 14)? Microstepping over 1/16 (1/64) also seems to be possible when I set it.#stall-detection-l6472

There is some informations missing in the datasheet at config register description about the CHP register. It should be a 8 bits register. 16 bit are assigned for it and the corresponding description is about some other unknown register: CHSI suppose that this register is for primary and secondary calibration, can someone confirm it and tell us to which of the channel the first and second byte are coresponding ?Also can you give some precision on where are the LSB and MSB. Posted on January 30, 2018 at 00:22After reading the STC3115 datasheet (D023755 Rev 8) and system integration (AN4324), plus FAQ and the driver code on GitHub, I have questions about the REG_VM_CFG, REG_CC_CFG, REG_VM_ADJ and REG_CC_ADJ.Are the *_CFG parameters automatically updated by the IC?If not, is there an algorithm I should used to adjust them with the *_ADJ registers?Thanks#stc3115

Posted on October 10, 2017 at 21:30 With PowerSTEP01, L6470 and L6480, the BEMF compensation does not work with step-clock mode (the motor status is stop). The output (to motor) voltage won't be increased when speeding up the motor by changing PWM frequency. without BEMF compensation, the output current is too low at high speed. Thus, step-clock mode is totally useless in voltage mode. I have a temporary solution for this problem, I set KVAL_HOLD register to change the voltage when changing speed. But the SPI communications eat many CPU circles, so there is a limitation of speed because the interval can't be less than a SPI communication needs. It is even worse with daisy chain: more devices on the bus, more time is consumed by SPI communications. So, changing voltage between two step pulses is difficult. In trying to improve the torque and resolve stalling issues, I measured the RMS current into one of the phase windings using a DVM. Posted on January 14, 2018 at 20:54I see that there is a difference in the number of microsteps and if they drive/control voltage or current, but is there any other difference? Could please somebody give me a quick comparison between them? I originally bought L6474 as I thought that is the most advanced (increasing numbering), but I figured out from one of the 7 datasheets and user guides in front of me, in one footnote, under a table, in the middle of the page(!), that it is not entirely controllable by SPI. So is the l6470 the most advanced (reverse logic)? Or is it the L6472 (no logic at all)? And how can I get 2-4 engineering samples as the site which should be destined for that doesn�t seem to work for months and I already wrote a feedback about that as the FAQ suggested for the preferred way to report bugs� and now I have to buy them at a 3-4 times higher price from sinuss.nl#l6470 #bad-support-problems-error

Posted on December 25, 2017 at 22:38We plan to build a high power PMSM controller based on Stm32f303 (for this motor for a start http://www.thunderstruck-ev.com/motenergy-me1115-brushless-sin-cosine.html).Before we start, we are evaluating the FOC library and the existing tools, but the latest version of Stm32100 (v 4.3)  does not seem to support sin/cos encoder. Is it coming in future versions? Could we compute the position and feed it to the 32100 library in real time? Do we need the source code of 32100 to do that? Is it at all possible?Thank you.

Posted on November 13, 2017 at 14:42Hello,according to the datasheet of the LED1642 driver, the LE signal value is defined by the number of CLK rising edges when the LE is 1.In the datasheet, the figures always show LE signals which are aligned to the first rising clock edge of a new data signal (SDI) (like it is shown in the attached figure).Is this a requirement we need to meet when implementing a driver? Is it valid, when the LE signal is high for a specified number of clock rising edges in the middle of a data signal block (16 bit)?best regards

Posted on December 02, 2017 at 02:25Hi,I've got some problems in getting the max Current capability of 30A out of the Chip. As soon as the Current goes above 20A the Chip will sooner or later switch of Halfbridge B. I think the problem is to get the Heat fast enough out of the Chip on to the PCB, because the PCB and the Heatsink have only a Temperature of 50�C. According to the datasheet the Die of the Chip should have a Temperature of 150�C-175�C in order to switch off one of the Half-Bridges. So it seems that the Heat accumulates inside the Chip.Therefore my question is if the HeatSlugs of the VNH5019 are capable of transferring the power, which is lost under full load, out of the Chip at all. Has someone ever achieved 25A or 30A?By the way it doesn't matter if the applied Voltage is 12V or 24V.The PCB Power traces from and to the Chip have a thickness of 70um on the TOP and the BOTTOM site.The Heatsink to
