Posted on January 18, 2016 at 13:21I think there is a mistake in the scheme: Checking data sheet (and a board built by myself), the red line (2) is wrong, and it is necessary the blue line (1). I have destroyed 3 L6482 chips before to find out what was happening. Now, who pays my three L6482H chips...?

Posted on March 18, 2016 at 20:15In the datasheet, Register 0 has 5 bits (P0-P4) that are defined as ''This bits control position of motor, e.g. 00000 step angle is 0, 01111 step angle is 180.  There is no table which defines how to derive the other angles.  Are these bits incremented each time STEP is switched?  What are the purpose of these bits?  I will be full-stepping the motor in all circumstances.  It is a 20 step/revolution motor.

Posted on March 12, 2016 at 19:10 Hello. I use L6470H chip. I found a issue of the chip. I want switch mode BUSY and SYNC in my program to control of the step clocking. I can write ''1'' to SYNC_EN bit of the STEP_MODE register. BUT I can't come back STEP_MODE register to BUSY mode. I am reading ''1'' in SYNC_EN bit unlike I wrote ''0'' there before. STATUS reg displayed 0x7e8q value . It means NOTPERF_CMD is set in ''1''. Conditions: my stepper motor is stopped, any command is not executed. How Can I switch from SYNC mode to BUSY mode in STEP_MODE register? Ihar

Posted on March 12, 2016 at 01:06I have some L78L15ACZ's that do not seem to be working, or perhaps there is some required external component/circuit configuration that is missing?  The output is remaining approx. a diode drop below the input...beyond 20V.  Any ideas as to what the issue may be or suggestions for correcting? Our average circuit current consumption can go upto 66mA. Actual Power Dissipation = (Vin - Vout) * Iout = (39 - 24) * 66mA = 0.99W Max Junction Temp (Tj) = Temp Ambient (Ta) + (Power Dissipation Pd * Thermal Resistance Junction-Ambient θja) Tj = 70 °C + (0.99W * 100 °C/W) = 169 °C Actual Device Pd = (Tj - Ta)/θja = (125 - 70)/100 = 0.55W Considering these parameters, below are some of our queries, 1. What will be effect on the part life w.r.t the stress its going through? 2. We do have some copper area on the board which acts as heatsink and i believe we should be considering that in the formula to determine the Pd, how can we consider that? 3. STGF10NC60KD in a typical three-phase inverter application and I have designed a short circuit protection to prevent IGBT damage when 2 phases of the motor becomes accidentally shorted.Base on the IGBT datasheet ''Short circuit withstand time'' is 10us. My designed protection acts in less than 5us, disabling PWM. However, I've done several short-circuit tests where the IGBT becomes damaged in less than 5us. Enclosed you can find an oscilloscope capture of the current pulse that flows by the damaged IGBT when it becomes shorted (channel 2 - green color). The current is scaled 20A/V. The oscilloscope capture shows an initial current pulse of 80A, followed by a 2nd current pulse of 140A at 1,5us and also a 3th current pulse of 120A at 2,5us. Posted on March 08, 2016 at 11:29We have to prepare an H-Bridge to supply a resistive load in both current directionsWe plan to use 4 N-channel MOSFETs and we would like to use L6743 as a HB driver for each couple of MOSFETS But we want to use in almost DC condition, in other words, the period of ON time of HS could until HOURS before change switching.  In this sense can be used such a drivers? Or Capacitor of HS driver will be discharged soon or later and HS transistor will be unintended switched off?  Thanks and bes regards

Did not work from mobile?)Hi - does someone know whether the two LDOs on the SPV1050 will supply power even when the charging circuitry is disconnected from the battery (!BATT_CONN is high)?My application should get LDO power all the time, but it only receives IN_LV recharge voltage some of the time. Posted on February 18, 2016 at 11:40We have an issue related your stepper motor controller L6470.We are working with two of your evaluation boards: EVAL6470H-DISC and EVAL6470PD and we had two critical situations with two boards, one of each. In those situations, the controller IC blew up. The main question is: Should we use some kind of outputs protection like TVS or fast recovery diodes?. I will waiting for a prompt response. Posted on January 25, 2016 at 10:29Questions on STEVAL-IHM038V1 We are planning to design a BLDC ceiling fan controller board based on the STEVAL-IHM038V1 evaluation board. (http://www.st.com/web/en/catalog/tools/PF255633) We have some technical questions about this Evaluation Board.  1) This Evaluation Board allows an input voltage between 90VAC and 265VAC. But our application needs an input voltage between 100VAC and 280VAC. We couldn�t find in the schematics (steval-ihm038v1_schematic.pdf) which parts of the Evaluation Board prevent it to suit our requirements. What should we modify to accomodate our specifications? 2) The DC voltage of our fan motor is 320V. We would like to know if your evaluation board allows a +Vbus of 320VDC? We don�t understand how your evaluation board accommodates that DC voltage. Is it done through the software development kit (STSW-STM32100)? A

Does I Need to make some initalisation before start a communication? I choose SPI Mode 3 and a frequency of 250kHz. Hope someone can give me advise.  #l6480 #l6482-spi #spi-config-problem

The Keil has build success.But the motor is not work. I use the Oscilloscope to see the six PWM from IHM039V1, The PWM has no response。 When I debug in the keil，it stop in the MCboot(oMCI,oMCT).The Serial communication is not connect the IHM039V1. Thanks .

Posted on January 05, 2016 at 12:21The documentation for the IHM001 should more clearly state that the included nucleoF302R8 is NOT the standard  nucleo with that processor!Because I didn't want to ''break'' the included nucleo and demo app (I couldn't find the source for that), I decided to try and run everything I tried on the other nucleo302R8 that I have. It turns out that * The clock startup code just ignores the errors and bumbles on at 8MHz when setting the clock to 72MHz doesn't work.* The provided nucleo is configured for using the 8MHz from the STLINK. Posted on November 16, 2015 at 16:16Hi everyone,I'm using the following evaluation boards:    - STM32303C-EVAL    - STEVAL-IHM023V3I'm trying to make FOC algorithm for ACIM. The whole FW is written by myself excluding the standard peripheral lib from ST. At the moment the motor is controlled with the U/f algorithm.   PWM timer is configured to 200 us. ADC is configured for measuring the currents, when the bottom IGBTs are ON. The trigger of the ADC interrupt comes once per PWM cycle in the middle of the current pulse, when the current flows through the shunt. I've soldered up the 150 pF capacitors on the STM32303C-EVAL board, so that the RC time constant is 150 ns. The measured current is sent via UART and built in Excel. The result of measurement you can see in the attached picture.

I am working on using a PowerSTEP01 with a STM32469I-Discovery.  I have example code that uses a STM32F401RE-Nucleo and a X-Cube-IMH03A1 and that works great.  The thing I am working on now is the SystemClock_Config(void) function.  The example code uses RCC_OSCILLATORTYPE_HSI and the SPI example for the Discovery board uses RCC_OSCILLATORTYPE_HSE.  I am educating myself with the RCC to see how to convert one to the other and am making headway but I'm not sure I need to bother as long as I have the frequency right.  Has anybody have and experience with this or any recommendations?  Thanks for your time on this. #powerstep01-stepper-motor-driver

Posted on January 04, 2016 at 11:00Supply of the POWERSTEP01 IC I have recently completed a design using the POWERSTEP01 IC which I think is a great chip, however there is no stock available of this chip anywhere in the world. Some distributors are saying 16 week lead times and others saying 20 weeks. Some of the distributors such as Mouser have been attempting to contact ST as they were expecting a delivery last year however they have been unsuccessful in their attempts in getting any delivery updates. Does anyone know if there are any issues surrounding this chip? I don't really want to do a complete redesign and use something different however I feel as through I will have no choice if we don't get more information. Thanks Graham
