Hello,I am currently developing a device that uses the L7983PU50R as a 5V power source, based on the L7983PU50R - Evaluation board schematic.In the circuit, the 5V output is further used to power an LDO with a 3.3V output and a reference voltage source with 3.3V and 1.65V outputs.The power source for the DCDC L7983PU50R is rectified by a diode bridge and smoothed with capacitors, thus the converter is powered by up to 42VDC.For debugging purposes, the circuit includes a connector that allows for the connection of an external 5V to power the LDO and the reference voltage source.My question is: Is it possible to apply a 5VDC to the output of the DCDC L7983PU50R (LX and VOUT pins) when there is no voltage at the VIN input? This is needed for debugging purposes. If this is not advisable due to potential overvoltage at the LX input, would it be valid to connect a reverse diode with a low voltage drop between VOUT and VIN? In this case, would the device

We need help with a problem with the L9963T (SPI to isolated SPI transceiver).Please help us find the cause and solution.PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:We are using L9963Ts on each side of a communication link between two boards. Board #1 transmits to board #2 which responds. Board #1 starts to transmit shortly after power up and then continues to transmit.If we power up both boards at the same time, everything works.But when we power up board #2 after board #1, the L9963T on board #2 does not indicate that it is receiving (i.e. BNE is not set), even though we can see that board #1 is transmitting. Since board #2 is not receiving, it will not respond. We suspect that the L9963T on board #2 is somehow thrown off by the switching of signals on the transmission line while its power supply is ramping up, and is therefore not working properly. Has this effect been reported before?

I am currently working with the STEVAL-VP26K01B evaluation board, which utilizes the VIPER26K IC, as part of an electric car project for Formula Student. During my study of the board's design, I noticed that the feedback is taken from a resistor divider between the output and the source of the power MOSFET.Intuitively, I would have expected the feedback to be referenced to ground, but this is not the case in the design. Could you please provide clarification or insights into the rationale behind this design choice? Understanding this would greatly enhance my comprehension of the system.

Just finished my design for wireless charging board with the STBC15QTR as charging controller. The chip marked as active production but i can't find the chip on estore.st.com, mouser or digikey. Where can i buy it?I could switch my design to STBC15LJTR but it is in another package that will require more expensive PCB service (as it will require additional "vias as pads" process). :(

Hello,we want to use L6482 chip to substiture DRV8711 driver we have been using so far. However from our tests the driver does not behave equally as well. We took some oscilloscope screenshots showing that at high speeds the current provided to the motor from L6482 is lower than the DRV8711 one. Is there a way to bring the current up using ST L6482? Are there some parameters we can play with?The driver is commanded via the CLOCK pin (and the DIRection is given via SPI).We are using the L6482 evaluation board (EVAL6482H). In the attachments you can find two screenshots, one of the ST L6482 and one of the DRV8711.Thank you very much in advance,Have a nice day. 

Hey,I'm planning to use this high-side driver in a project distribution module, but I'm having trouble fully understanding how the current sensing works.I've looked at the schematic, and I see a combination of two resistors, Rprot and Rsense. Is this supposed to act as a voltage/current divider?What is the purpose with these sensors? Also, I assume the CS (current sense) output from the driver is 5V, but in the datasheet, it's directly connected to the MCU without a voltage divider to 3.3V. As far as I know, STM MCUs can't handle 5V inputs. Is it necessary to add a voltage divider before connecting it to the ADC?

We've been using the On Semi FDD8453LZ MOSFET (40V, 6.7 ohm, DPAK) in our motor control designs for many years, but this part is now EOL.  We're looking for a suitable DPAK replacement.  One critical parameter is the single pulse avalanche energy, which must be equal or better than the FDD8453LZ's 253 mJ.  Unfortunately this is not a parameter that normally is listed in parametric selection tables.  Does ST have a 40V DPAK MOSFET that meets this requirement?Thanks,Mark 

Dears,There is SPV1050 in my circuit. Works without MPPT, boost mode. The problem concerns BATT_CHG state. Documentation says BATT_CHG output reflects DC/DC converter state, i. e. it is active (low) when DC/DC converter works. Simply saying:1. When input voltage is above threshold (Vmpp > Vmpp_ref), battery is being charged and BATT_CHG is low. That's correct.2. When battery becomes full, EOC threshold is reached and DC/DC converter stops operating. BATT_CHG becomes inactive (high). That's also correct.3. When battery is being charged and suddenly we stop delivering input voltage (disconnect photovoltaic panel), battery current meter shows no charge, voltmeter connected to input shows there is no input voltage.Unfortunatelly BATT_CHG is still active (low), so it doesn't reflect DC/DC converter state (which should be low because Vmpp < Vmpp_ref).Do you know why there is low state at BATT_CHG in scenario 3?

Trying to switch L9916 to device program mode.Followed every instruction in Application Note, but failed I2C communication with the device (L9916 does not generate acknowledge - so it seems, that the initial sequence failed?).Could someone give me a functional example, how to connect the L9916 just for programming (schema) and how to switch L9916 to device program mode? Thanks.

I have reviewed the VIPER319XD datasheet and the Power Supply Design Tool, and I have a few questions about this IC:The datasheet only provides RthJA (80°C/W) and does not specify the RthJB value. In another datasheet for the same package, I found RthJB listed as 10°C/W (without the bottom pad provision). How is this thermal resistance possible, considering that components with a bottom pad typically exhibit the same thermal characteristics? Could you please confirm the RthJB value?In the Power Supply Design Tool, there is a mention of IC capacitive loss, but I’m not clear on what that entails. If the output inductance increases, does this loss also increase? Could you please provide more details on this?

Hi,currently, I'm designing a wireless sensor node with the SPV1050 energy harvester. However, as I read the datasheet, I got kind of confused with the input capacitance for the source. In the datasheet on page 21 there is mentioned that the selection of the input capacitance has an influence on the MPPT performance. There is a calculation given with two variables I do not understand. T1 is some sort of time constant, and I(MP) is the minimum operating current for MPPT? But what exactly are these values?For example, the evaluation board (STEVAL-ISV019V1) uses two 4.7 uF capacitors in parallel as input capacitance and states that this circuit is suitable for I(MP) between 30uA and 20mA. Good day to everyone! Could anyone consult us about the issue with using VIPER06 in flyback converter just in self-biased mode for all the operating time, as it shown in Figure 19 of datasheet DocID022794 Rev 2 and described in Chapter 8 of datasheet DocID022794 Rev 2.After using VIPER06 in this mode (input is 220VAC, output is 5VDC, load is 0,5W) for about from half of year to one year, the lot of ICs starts to consume itself much much more current and therefore overheat until its overheat protection circuit shut down the output, although the output is 0,5W all the time. Hello, I have some questions regarding a problem with a BPP receiver I am designing. After performing tuning, the FOD configuration on the STWLC38 works well with BPP chargers, but some EPP chargers will trip FOD when the receiver is placed.Is it possible to use two different FOD configurations on the STWLC38 for BPP and EPP even if the STWLC38 is configured as a BPP receiver?Is it possible to change the STWLC38 FOD parameters by sending I2C messages without needing to reprogram the RX?If the above two are not possible, is it possible to implement this with custom firmware?Thank you!

I've used the VNH3SP30-E in numerous applications, but they've all been for motors that draw less than 10 amps.I have a 12 VDC motor that if run at 100% PWM, will draw 28 to 30 amps.  The data sheet states that this can handle up to 30 amps. I'm wondering if I can indeed get 30 amps continuous current from this motor driver, and if I will need some heat sinking, and how much. I could epoxy a heat sink like this one on the chip, like this for example.Thanks for your input.

Hello, I've had a look at the STEVAL-WBC86TX PCB design and have concerns on the routing over the split plane. The STM Webpage doesnt seem to work for the STEVAL-WBC86TX but ive managed to find the Gerbers. You can see in the images below, the top layer and layer 1. The trace going to one side of the coil is routed over split planes.  Isnt this bad practice?As the website is down, I can only assume that this hasnt had any compliance testing done, as its an evaluation board. Thanks,Mike
