But the checkbox 'Enable differential term' in 'Drive Management->Drive Settings->Speed Regulotor' is always invalid and can't be checked.How do I change this?#pid #motor-speed #motor-control-workbench

Posted on August 25, 2017 at 11:12Hi,i'm using the a STEVAL-IHM034V2 board for evaluation (PFC + FOC PMSM).I imported the project in ST Workbench 4.3. Generated files and compiled with IAR is OK. Then board is programmed.The motor starts but the PFC doesn't work. I verified in the file Drive parameters.h that the PFC is enabled : the following line is present#define PFC_ENABLED /* #define PFC_ENABLED to enable the PFC */so the PFC should be enabled.With serial communication i get the PFC_Status = 0x10(Id 0x4D) and the PFC Flags = 0x00100010(Id 0x4E) which means that the AC frequency is not in the correct range. The AC Mains Frequency is read as 0 with the serial communication (Id 0x51).The pin for AC Mains is B4 (Timer 3 channel 2)With an oscilloscope i measured the frequency on TP7 on the board, i have a square wave with 10ms period s

Posted on September 08, 2017 at 21:04Hi,I'm building dual bldc motor driving board, using the ST Motor control library. MCU is STM32F303VC. According the motor control workbench, I can select ADC3/4 plus TIM1 for motor 1 and ADC1/2 plus TIM8 for motor 2. But it appears that it's hard coded  in the library ver 4.3 (function R3_4_F30X_Init) ADC1/2 always to be used with motor 1. I reversed the code and finally my board can run a bldc motor. Should I change any other function?My second question is about maximum achievable dual FOC frequency with STM32F303 at 72MHz?Maximum for me is 20KHz PWM with torque/flux execution on every second PWM period, using CCMRAM (motors with hall sensors).#motor-control-foc-library

Posted on October 24, 2017 at 09:32Hi Community, I'm trying to talk to to STEVAL-SPIN3201 within the Monitor of ST Motor Control Workbench (v.4.3), running on a Microsoft Surface Pro 2 Windows 8, connected by USB (COM3 at 9600 baud), but I keep getting the error message:�Connection Failed! No response, check the communication cable, the power on the board or the baudrate (set to 9600 bps).'Using Keil uVision v.5 MDK-Lite (debug option set to ST-Link Debugger with SW Port in Target COM) I have compiled (by batch build) and downloaded the executable to the board (shown by led LD2 blinking green/red). I actually did manage to get Workbench to connect once, by first running STM32 ST-LINK Utility v.4, connecting that to the board (which showed the address contents) and then exiting ST-LINK. Posted on November 10, 2017 at 00:23When running the potetiometer example on the ST motor control workbench, there is an initial ramp up before it settles to the value based on the ADC reading of the potentiometer. Is there a way to remove this so that it always follows the potentiometer?

Some times can connect to MCU, but lose connection soon: Error msg: 'Communication is closed. the board doesn't response correctly' Even use baudrate 9600, get the same result.3

Some times can connect but lose connection soon. Even changed the baud rate to 9600, things don't change. I'm using the latest FOC 4.3.0. Any suggestions for this?

Posted on February 21, 2018 at 23:35Hello,I'm trying to connect to a steval-spin3201, but having no luck.  Both ST Motor Control Workbench and ST-LINK cannot find it.  If I look in the Device Manager of my PC, I see the 'STMicroelectronics STLink Virtual COM Port (COM4)', so the PC recognizes it, just that I can't connect.  ST Motor Control Workbench says 'Connection failed! No response, check the communication cable, the power on the board or the baudrate', all of which I've done.Please advise,Robert

Posted on April 12, 2018 at 23:49Using the MCSDK 5.0.1, I can startup and run a BLDC motor most of the time. About 10% of the time, I get a Start-up failure and each time I can see from the Motor Control Workbench GUI that the speed has reached the desired target of 1100 RPM but the Start-up failure occurs anyway. Debugging the generated firmware, I can see RUC_Exec (RevUp control) getting called and returning false which causes the MC_START_UP fault flag to be set. About 90% of the time, ramp-up succeeds and transitions to FOC mode.I think RUC_Exec is mistaken about the start-up fault because the monitored speed read-back is at the desired target, phase-current is the right frequency and I don't hear the motor assembly missing steps or 'bumping'. The RUC_Exec function appears to be defined in libmc-iar_M4.a which doesn't come with source code, so I can't see why it's returning false. I am not sure how to move forward. I have AC6, IAR and MKD installed. I have tried installed motor control workbench with no luck. X-CUBE-MCSDK executable that can be downloaded from the following link does not work for some reason.http://www.st.com/en/embedded-software/stsw-stm32100.html I am wondering if there is something else I need to install for this to work?FIY, I am using Windows10 and I have STM32CubeMX installed.

Posted on May 04, 2018 at 13:39Greetings!I have made a custom board based on STEVAL-ESC001V1 but with 2 identical channels(schematic attached). I use  ST motor control workbench 4.3 and configuration for STEVAL-ESC001V1 included in workbench package. My board and STEVAL-ESC001V1 have some  differences: other MCU, gate driver with other logic, other FETs. My one uses STM32F303CC instead STM32F303CB, but as i understand only difference between these MCUs is memory size, my is bigger. Gate driver from original board have inverted low side input, my one have both uninverted. I changed this logic in board configuration in workbench. My FETs are not so powerfull as original, but it is overkill for 30A motor anyway.So i have generated configuration in STMCWb for STEVAL-ESC001V1 with customized gate driver logic, built binary, flashed MCU, connected it to PC via USB

Posted on May 14, 2018 at 16:13Hi,When not using the motor profiler and instead writing all details by hand into the Motor Control Workbench (with Hall Sensors, Manual editing of PI variables disabled) at Motor - Parameters, there are fields for Inertia and Friction. So far, so good. Just the units are a bit confusing:Inertia: uN*m*s2Friction: uN*m*sI thought that inertia had the units kg*m² and friction N*m, which I wasn't able to match with the given units.Any clues how to do this right? Also does u stand for micro in this case or for something else?Thanks,Martin

Posted on May 23, 2018 at 16:57Hello,I am working on running a 250W Hub motor with the following setup:STM32F446 NucleoX-NUCLEO-IHM08M13 Hall sensorsunfortunately the Motor Profiler fails to profile the motor I am using and so I measured and entered all Parameters - as good as I could - manually into the Motor control workbench.Now when I try to start the motor with the Monitor in Workbench, I usually get a short movement of the motor which stops abruptly with an over current fault. This seems technically impossible as I use a power supply limited to 3A, while my current limit in ST software is set to 10A. Sometimes the fault doesn't appear but the motor makes squeaking noise and draws around 0.5-1A from the supply.Does anyone have an idea what my fault could be?Maybe wrong motor parameters? I bought the NUCLEO-F303RE MCU and the STEVAL-IPM15B 3Sh evaluation board and I want to use it with motor Profiler 5.4.3 software. My only issues is that I don't know where to find the pins that I have to associate between these two boards. If someone can help me with that, it would be really appreciated !thanks a lot Jeremy

Posted on July 15, 2018 at 21:29I have the NUCLEO-IHM07M1 motor dev board along with the NUCLEO-F302R8 mcu dev board. I've tried to get the demo software working with the ST Motor Control Workbench but am getting a Speed Feedback fault each time I try and start the motor. I'm able to connect to the dev board in the workbench, see the correct bus voltage, etc. But as soon as I start the motor, the rpm gauge goes all over the place for a bit before reporting the fault. Almost as if there are floating inputs to hall sensors or something. I've read through as much documentation as I can find and I am reasonably confident I have the sw and jumpers configured correctly for FOC control. Any ideas what could be causing this fault?Thanks

Hello,In folder ESC_STM32_FOC_FW we have working solution for STEVAL-ESC001V1 including PPM input control.However, after identifying the motor parameters , the generated new project located in ESC_STMCWB_prj folder does not include files found in ESC_STM32_FOC_FW required by PPM mode control. As I understood from pdf files, with older 4.3.0 version ,the generated project suppose to be in ESC_STM32_FOC_FW but with actual 5.2.0 version, new project is created and the only way to control the motor is by the GUI interface provided.So how to compile the project to include the new identified motor parameters as well as ESC (PPM read) function ?Any help is appreciated.Regards,Sergiu

I generate a STEVAL-SPIN3202 project (Keil MDK) by ST Motor Control Workbench V5.2. But it doesn't work. The motor was BR2804-1700kv-1 sensor less motor from P-NUCLEO-IHM001 KIT.Motor didn't really spin. I got FOC duration faults when I started motor in Monitor page of Motor Workbench. Communication was OK without problem.I have other two ST evaluation KIT which are P-NUCLEO-IHM001 and STEVAL-ESC001V1. Both of them work perfectly with ST Motor Control Workbench V5.2 and BR2804-1700kv-1.My questions are:Did ST test the STEVAL-SPIN3202 when released ST Motor Control Workbench V5.2? If so, what was my problem. How to make it a work?Does STEVAL-SPIN3202 really support FOC control?Does STEVAL-SPIN3202 really support sensor less motor with only one shunt resistor?Thanks,Ian

 I am using a 57BL90 motor with Halls, 90 watts, testing at 24vdc. I am using the ST workbench to specify all of the parameters then generate the *.h files which are downloaded using Keil. I am able to achieve good high speed motor control but very low speeds are very choppy and out of control. Even using torque mode only, the motor jumps and has a very uneven torque output. I will eventually be running the motor in position control mode commanding torque or speed from the position control loop. How can I get smooth torque and/or speed control of the motor at very low speeds??

I tried finding a solution on all the resources I can think of, tried uninstalling/ reinstalling the Cubemx and MotorControl Workbench, following the suggested order (first install cubemx, run it at least once before launching the workbench) to no avail. I cannot generate code sin MotorControl Workbench 5.2.0 does not detect STM32CubeMX version 4.27.0. Your help would be much appreciated.

I am using the Motor control Workbench 5.1.0.18254 to generate an Atollic project for SPIN3201 eval board. When I try to generate the project, it does not find the following library "cannot find -l:libmc-truestudio_M0.lib". I think the problem is that this library is not in the repository that generates the project "C:\Users\***\STM32Cube\Repository\MCSDK_v5.1.2-A1\MotorControl\lib".Do I need to update the Motor Control Workbench application?Best RegardsJorge

I'm making my way through getting the X-Nuclo-IHM07M1 motor controller board to work with a Nucleo-F429ZI board. The reason I'm pairing the motor controller board with the Nuclo-F429ZI is that it is the closest dev board to the actual custom hardware I'll eventually need to target the generated firmware for. As part of this, I need to enable the Ethernet peripheral on the Nucleo-F429ZI, but it's proving trickier than I initially thought.The issue I'm running into is there are conflicts between the hard-wired pins on the X-Nuclo-IHM07M1 and a number of the Ethernet pins on the Nucleo-F429ZI. Specifically, PA1 (M1_BUS_VOLTAGE & RMII_MDIO) and PC1 (M1_CURR_AMPL_V & RMI_MDC).To get this working, it appears I'll have to cut traces (or remove zero ohm bridges) on the X-Nuclo-IHM07M1 and solder in wires to route the conflicting analog signals down to Nucleo-F429ZI via other pins on ST Morpho connector.
