Hi,I have a project that automatically sets the MCU's RTC from the network time on a routine basis using HAL_RTC_SetDate(...) and HAL_RTC_SetTime(...)I realised this was potentially hazardous as rollover of the time or the data could occur between these two function as a consequence of high priority interrupts and their high priority tasks interrupting the time and data setting functions which Mr Murphy ensured they did. In fact because these two functions take many usecs to complete, desynch of the time and date could still occur without external influences.Setting the time and data using two separate HAL functions is flawed as each function restarts the RTC internal timer at the end of each function. There is no HAL function that sets both the time and date in a single step with the RTC internal counter stopped.  Stopping the counter prevents the data part and calendar part

Hello, For my research work I want to characterize how much current the LPTIM of a STM32U575ZIT6Q consumes when in compare match mode (counting from 0 to 65535 repeatedly).I prorgrammed two very simple codes, one where the counter is not initialized and the code goes to a while(1) after intialization of basic functions (clock and GPIO). The second program does the same but before the while(1) the timer is initialized and set-up. The core is running at 10 MHz, and the timer at 1MHz.To get the current consumption my idea was to power the MCU with an SMU with the timer on and then with timer off and get the current consumption by the difference of both values. While doing this I found two strange things:1-The current doesnt seem to be steady even when stucked in the while loop (see picture), what can explain this turning on and off of some other cicuitry? Maybe other periphe

I want to try to interface a 7" 1024X600 display with the STM32F407VET6 chip. I know that the F407 does not have a LTDC so I was wondering if I could use a LCD driver chip that could be wired to the FSMC of the microcontroller. I also plan on using an external memory chip for the frame buffer of the screen. Would something like this be able to be done?

I have Nucleo-G071RB. I want to flash the LED LD4 using CMSIS. Use IAR 8.40I'm writing the following code: GPIOA->MODER |= 0x400; (set GPIO_MODER_MODE5_0). It's not working! In the debugging window, bit 11 doesn't change and the LD4 LED doesn't switch!However, if I write a GPIOA->MODER = 0x400; then it works. (the debugger doesn't work because it's on GPIOA the same way, but it doesn't matter).The same thing is happening at other ports B, C, ...What's my mistake?Thank you.

Hi everyone,we have taken over the further development and support of a board containing a STM32F407. The board contains a USB port, connected to PA11/PA12, Reset and BOOT0 are connected to push-buttons. So a firmware upgrade by means of the STM32CubeProgrammer ist working well so far. The odd thing is, there are already a lot of boards in the wild, so we have to force the customer to perform firmware upgrades.STM32CubeProgrammer is a development tool which has a lot of features. Most of them are not required for a simple firmware upgrade. When a customer wants to perform a firmware upgrade, it does not make sense to use the STM32CubeProgrammer pachkage as this is much too complicate and only confuses the customer. There is a potential risk do make things wrong, even with a precise step-by-step manual (erased Flash, ...). The installation of the tool needs administrator rights, which sometimes is a show stopper as well.Is there any simple way to have a kind of "

According to AN2606 section 12 we can use USB DFU bootloader as long we have HSE using a 24, 18, 16, 12, 8, 6, 4 MHz crystal. This is missing from section 3.3 of the datasheet. Is there a reason for this?

Hello,I am currently evaluating the STM32H562 device. This devices has an ICACHE (instruction cache) module.Does it make sense to enable both, the ICACHE module and the FLASH prefetch buffer? In the past I already worked with the G0, G4 and F4 series.If I create an STM32G474 CubeIDE project, I can enable the FLASH "Instruction cache" and the "Prefetch buffer" via the "RCC" module.If I create an STM32H562 CubeIDE project, I can enable the "ICACHE" module but there is no "Prefetch buffer" setting in the "RCC" module anymore.Is there a reason that the "prefetch buffer" enable option is not available for the H562 device in the CubeIDE?What is the difference between the "FLASH Instruction cache" of the G4 and the "ICACHE" module of the H5?Thank you,Markus

I'm attempting to interface an STM32G473 with a VESC motor controller using CAN.I am successfully receiving status frames from the VESC controller, but when I transmit a frame to command it, the ID my scope reads in the frame is not always the same as what I set in my code. It appears to always set bit 0.For example, if I set an extended ID of 0, my scope reads an ID of 1. Setting the ID to 1 in code results in the same waveform. I've attached waveforms for IDs 0 and 1. I am using all 3 ADCs on an F765 to convert 16 channels of data at 50 ksps. Each ADC is configured to perform a sequence of conversions (5 on ADC1 and ADC2, 6 on ADC3), all triggered from the same timer. I have also configured them to ping-pong the data using the DMA. The ping-pong buffers reside in external SDRAM.This works fine, but, ofcourse, there is the problem of the data being scrambled, so it has to be de-interleved into linear buffers for each channel so that I can then perform signal processing on each channel.There is a lot of data to de-interleave (5000x2x2x16 bytes), and 100 ms in which to do all the required processing before the next buffer needs to be serviced. The de-interleaving routine takes about 39 ms after optimisation, so I only have 61 ms for the other filtering operations, which is likely to be a problem.The DMA doesn't seem to allow clever indexing to de-interleave on the fly...am I missing a trick?Is there something else I shoul

I want to implement a custom bootloader and load the firmware through that. My board is STM32H750XB and according to the data sheet it says, it contains a single sector (sector 0) of 128kB which is user programmable. My question ,  is it possible to program the bootloader and the firmware separately to the same sector, because when I flash the firmware after flashing the bootloader, it erases the bootloader and writes only the application to the given memory address.

Hello together,does anyone know how I can implement multiple USB device classes on a STM32?I want to use the CDC so a VCP and the DFU class so I can communicate with my chip and drive an update if needed. I am working with a STM32L452RE.It must be possible, it is the standard functionality of every ST-Link V2/V3 debugger that exists.In the CubeMx you can not set this, is that documented somewhere? Hello, I wrote two separate codes for this, 1st one is bootloader and 2nd is my application code. Bootloader will jump to the application code which is placed in QSPI memory. Code is executing and running fine, But the issue is I am not able to debug my application code. It is something that my debugger is not able to halt code in the main of my application code. it is showing following error....Can someone please tell me, how to give access of QSPI memory to set breakpoint or to halt code in main of application code. I am using STM32L476 disc board and STM32cubeIDE.

Hi, I have both stm32u5 and stm32l469. I found that there are some differences in the CRC caculation.On stm32l469:if i configure the parameter as following, function hardware_crc32_calculate_with_seed works fine, no matter the code in line 185,186,194 being comment out or not. However, if i change the CRC address to U5 and run the same test. the code in line 185,186,194 must be had.

I am using STM32CUBE ide and my project has SD card access via SDIO peripheral.I am using FatFS middleware. To use FreeRTOS I enabled DMA and system works fine.After enabling the DMA I wanted to see how much read/write performance the system gained.I measured disk access time with oscilloscope by set-reset a gpio pin in SD_read and SD_write functions. To my surprise system that use DMA for SDIO peripheral was slightly slower.Following table is the access times with and without DMA:  ReadWritewith DMA1.31ms2.062mswithout DMA

According to AN4879, PA9 must be used as VBUS Sensing and must not be re-used for other purposes. However, according to CubeMX, PA9 refer to USART1_TX and USART1 is the only port that supports memory reprogramming (STM32F103VET6 Datasheet Section, 2.3.10, "Boot modes") Does it mean that in self-powered devices, USART1 and USB must not be used simultaneously?
