STM32 MCUs Software development tools

If I reduce the clock speed on a STM32F4 from 168Mhz to 96Mhz, with bus speeds reduced accordingly.Should the current consumption of the processor be reduced.I've been trying to take some current measurements, and there does not seem to be any reduction in current consumption of my board when I reduce the clock speed.By comparison, I have another board which uses a NXP / Freescale MK22 MCU, and to save power we reduce the clock speed to 16Mhz when the board is idleI can't use low power modes, becuase I need to maintain PWM on pins for things like backlight intensity, so reducing the clock speed was our only optionBut with the STM32F4 I'm not seeing any reduction in current, even if I reduce clock speed to 16MHz, and use the maximum dividers on all the busses.

I've tried to configure several security settings from C code for my STM32H7B. I used the example secure bootloader/application which I modified a bit. I was able to enable the security bit and configure a secure memory area in flash block 0. When starting the JTAG connection is lost. After the booloader part jumps to the application, the JTAG is enabled again.I can read all the option bytes as expected. The ReadOutProtection level is currently oxAA, so no protection. The security bit is set, as is a secure memory region. I would like to remove the secure region, so I tried to set the ReadOutProtection to level 0xBB. This however doesn't work. It remains at 0xAA.I've tried several things. Of course repowering it. Removing the security bit itself. Writing directly to the registers. Is there a guide to follow ? How is memory assigned to lwIP ? Is it running on a separate task ?I'm running a Mongoose demo which requires a big stack. I'm using the default task created by CubeIDE which just inits lwIP and goes to sleep on an infinite loop. Here I placed my app code.Setting a stack of 2048 words is not enough for this app, but if I go higher then lwIP stops working (DHCP won't start properly, my app starts after DHCP has acquired an IP). Should I use a separate task ? Why ?I'll be happy to get some pointers, though I'll dig lwipopts and the source code if necessary, I hope it is not; this is just a demo...

Hello,A simple question regarding STM32CubeIDE and its compiler.For example, I declare: typedef volatile struct { uint8_t myVariable;  } myType;Live Expression-Type shows myVariable as uint8_t only. It should make all the members inside volatile as the theory says.Nevertheless, when I declare:typedef struct { volatile uint8_t myVariable;  } myType;Live Expression-Type shows volatile uint8_t. This is also true for a pointer to the structure.I would like to ask whether it is the matter of indication or the volatility is not being applied for sure. I am trying to solve some erratical ifs and flags skipping in the main while loop when they are being accessed by several interrupt routines.

Hi everyone. I use CubeIDE 1.10.1 and CubeMX 6.6.1 MCU stm32F401CCU6 stm32H750. StlinkV2 or J-link Ultra.When I start debugging FreeRTOS I get stuck in the osKernelStart() -> vTaskStartScheduler-> xPortStartScheduler-> prvPortStartFirstTask-> and I stuck in my task forever but just during debugging !!!! Without debugging program works fine. Why is it happening? Am I doing something wrong of this is a bug?Please, can someone help me? I would be very grateful.

I am trying to get an example "TIM_timeBase" to run with the STM32H750B Discovery Board. The readme file says the following:  1. Select required configuration in memory.h in Templates\ExtMem_Boot\Inc.But, I have many of these files, for Cube V1.9.0, 1.9.1 ... According Info of my Cube IDE, I have version V1.9.0... so why do I have also the folder 1.9.1 ?Then the readme file says also following:In order to load the ExtMem_Boot code :  - Open your preferred toolchain :   - Open the Project   - Rebuild all files   - Load project imageWhat is meant by Load project image?Thank you

Half the times I reset the MCU, Ethernet does not come up.I'm using CMSIS_V1 interface.IDE version is 1.10.1; F7 fw is v1170.The project has been generated from scratch for an F746ZG and runs on a Nucleo-F746ZG, the PHY has already been configured and everything works fine when it does; either it works or it does not.No code added, just the auto-generated code.I already solved the joke of having to set task stack to 256 words to make it not HardFault, I'll be glad to hear about other easter eggs to find.Are these the "reworked" drivers ? The reference manual states that the STM32L452 should be able to use an TIM3_TRGO as a trigger for ADC conversion:Though when I try to setup the "External Trigger Conversion Source" in STM32CubeMX there is no drop-down option for Timer 3, only TIM1/TIM2/TIM6/TIM15:Am I doing something wrong? Can I just ignore the STM32CubeMX and insert the appropriate EXTSEL-bits in the code myself?

As to save cost we are running the clock of internal RTC in STM32G070RBT6 by our HSE of 8MHz. We have not used an LSE of 32.768KHz.But due to this, we are observing that our clock is not working properly and after 1 day our current time increase by 5-6 seconds. We have tuned the clock to the calendar unit by the given formula of ST in application note AN3371. As per this application note, the calendar unit clock must be 1 Hz.we have tried with values like PREDIV_A to 124 and PREDIV_S to 1999 to give exactly 1 Hz clock to the calendar.But still, with this, we are getting variation in actual RTC time like on one board RTC time is up by 35 seconds in 6 days, and on another board, it is up by 19 seconds in 4 days.So can you help us with how we can correct our RTC configuration so that it works correctly or with external crystal HSE of 8MHz this variation expected?With temperature, variation will be more

I used Cubemx to configured the system clock to 180MHz. Why is the system clock in the generated project code...... 6 zeros...... 16MHz:grinning_face_with_sweat:? Can I change 16MHz to 180MHz?It simply changes the number after "SystemCoreClock" to 180000000？

Tying to use STM32CubeMX 6.6.1 on an M1 Macbook Pro but when I try to save a new Project I can navigate to the Documents folder but no files or folders are shown. STM32CubeMX will duly create a new folder but if you then try and open it by you can't because the File Open fails to show files and folders in Documents.If you try and open a .ioc file within a subfolder of Documents STM32CubeMX opens but fails to load the file, you just end up on the opening screen where you select your starting position.Is it only me with this problem as for me this makes using a Mac just now impossible.ThanksEDIT: Just found out if I run using sudo from a Terminal I can see all the expected files/folders.

Hello,since the G491 was the last awailable chip to buy we built a board containing that µC.We use KEIL IDE usually but STMCubeIDE shows a similar message when trying to debug the program:"Break at address "0x1fff4e48" with no debug information available, or outside of program code."In both IDEs the debugger doesn't work.Can anybody helb me?Is more information necessary?Sincerely, Rahul
