Posted on September 10, 2013 at 11:27Hi,I want to drive peltier element to control temperature of one module. Peltier specifications are:Imax = 9A and Vmax = 3.75V.Such 4 peltiers are connected in series to control to module temperature.I am planning to use L298N for driving it. As shown if I connect L298N two pins in series then I will be able to drive current upto 4A. But, to control my module temperature, Peltier is sinking average 4A current.So, It I can't use single L298N IC as it will heat too much and also it will damage.So, I want to know whether it is possible to use two L298N ICs in parallel to give higher current.If so then please advice me for input and output pin connections.Thanks & Regards,Sachin Panchal

Posted on September 09, 2013 at 19:00What is the maximum load capacitance of an LD39100. We have a light load of 40mA with a very heavy load capacitance of 600uF. Is there a risk of triggering a false over-current detection on power-up?

Posted on August 27, 2013 at 02:52 According to the datasheet, Cboost(220nF/100V) is connected between VBOOST pin and VS pin. But according to the EVKIT schematic, Cboost is connected between VBOOST pin and GND. Which connection is more recommended? l6207-boost

Posted on August 24, 2013 at 20:33Hi,I am trying to get sensorless FOC working on a 14 pole surface mounted outrunner motor. It has a Rs of 0.35 Ohm and Ls of 1.0 mH.I installed Motor Library v3.0 and applied the IFN003V1 patch. I set all of the board settings listed in UM1478. I then compiled the library and user application code and loaded with ST-LINK. The board connects fine and the settings match the workbench.When I try to start the motor with overcurrent sensing enabled, it always returns an overcurrent error immediately. When I disable overcurrent the sensorless revup works, but at the end of the revup I instantly get a ''startup failure''.Any suggestions on what to try? It seems that something in the current feedback is erroneous.Thanks

Posted on August 28, 2013 at 15:12The models are available on ST website but there is no documentation as to understand the model or use it. The thermal + electrical model has case and junction temperature, but do not know how to use these terminals. When compared to Infenion models, the junction temperature pin has no floating property and should be connected. Would you please share a link where I can find the documentation about how to use the pspice MOSFET models of ST. #pspice #mosfet

Any suggestions what development kit to use? There is the STEVAL-IHM034V1 ''1300 W PMSM compressor and fan drive plus digital  PFC'' but it's just a preview. When will it be available? Everything works great except PI regulator for speed closed loop runways after speed 13000rpm. Posted on August 23, 2013 at 11:08Hello,I would like to operate a flyback converter at a wide rectified voltage range (from 50 Vdc to 380 Vdc).Is there any way to reduce the Flyback start-up voltage of a VIPER? Although the Brown out protection can be deactivated and the flyback can effectively work at 50VDC rectified voltage (I have test it and it does work properly), it is not possible to start the driver at low voltage.Any recommendation, external power-up circuit suggestion would be greatly appreciated.Ernest #viper #viper17 #brown-out

The Vin is designed from 90Vac to 400Vac (phase-neutral or phase-phase) and the Vout is 16V, 1.3A (max) (about 21W), in QR mode with fmin 150kHz and Fmax 300kHz. If we supply the circuit with 400Vac, after a few hours of work, the Rs burns as well as the resistor in series to the gate of the mosfet and the mosfet goes in short. In some cases the L6566BH explodes. In past we used the L6565 and the same thing happened. If we supply the circuit with 230Vac, all works well without problems. What can it be? Someone can help us? What software should I use with STEVAL-PCC009V1?I tried it on Win-XP, after installing drivers it was recognized as Universal Dongle Demo Board. But after starting dSPIN software from here http://www.st.com/web/en/catalog/tools/PF258265 and trying to connect a board, the error appeared that I should connect STEVAL-PCC009V2 board.2. Posted on August 15, 2013 at 15:37I am working on a BLDC motor implementation.  The motor has 4 Pole Pairs with 3 hall sensors. I am storing the time between any successive hall sensor interrupt. The time between hall sensor interrupts is (TIMER * LSB) where my LSB is microseconds The total time for one mechanical revolution of the motor is T = (TIMER * LSB) * 6 * NUMBER_OF_POLE_PAIRS The rotation rate, in degrees per second, is therefore (360*1000000)/T which is 60,000,000 / ( (TIMER * LSB) * NUMBER_OF_POLE_PAIRS) Notice that the last equation is missing the factor of 6 in the denominator. What I’m finding is that the rotation rate is correct if I still have the 6 in the denominator, which doesn’t make sense to me. Help!

Posted on March 31, 2013 at 20:22Hi,I have been trying to adjust the BEMF compensation parameters for my stepper motor on a EVAL6470H board.  I am using the Dspin evaluation software on WindowsXP and an STEVAL-PCC009V1 communications board.  I am monitoring the winding current with an oscilloscope and and clamp meter.After hours of trying I was unable to achieve any change in the current drawn by my motor at any particular speed, no matter what parameters I enter for the starting slope, intersect speed, or final acc/dcc slope.  I am attempting to keep the motor current near 1.5a rms up to about 1600 cps, but the current rises steadily over the speed range.  I can adjust the KVAL parameters and affect the level of the current drawn, but the ''slope'' seems to remain the same no matter what values I enter in the parameters mentioned.  I can see no effect on the current drawn at any speed no matter wh

Is that in the PCC009V2 had write some special promgram for the PC GUI and i erase it ?How could i recover that ? #steval-pcc009v2 #spin #l6470

Posted on July 26, 2013 at 05:37We bought IGBT driver ICs, from element14.. L6388ED, L6390, L6386...all those ICs dont have any markings to find, which pin is No.1. Usually all ICs have dot mark to indicate PIN.NO.1, or U mark at the top of IC. But the ST driver ICs dont have any markings. I soldered IC L6388ED and given the supply by assuming pin numbers, in both direction. Its not working. I think that IC is damaged due to mis-numbering of PIN-OUT. Help me to find PIN-OUT..

Posted on July 16, 2013 at 16:10Hello, I am evaluating the L6470 as replacement for a discontinued chip, which is used in our application in the moment. I have to reach high speed (2500 step/s), however when going above 800 step/s the motor looses steps. Here are my motor characteristics: according to datasheet: Rm = 0,8 Ohm Lm = 1 mH (I measured Rm = 3,3 Ohm; Lm = 5,3 mH) ke = 0,115 V/Hz I use 24V power supply. I tried a lot of different parameters with dSPIN Evaluation tool, but 800 step/s seems to be the upper limit, although the old motor driver reaches 2500 step/s easily. Does anyone have a hint for me? BTW, I'm evaluating with EVAL6470H board. regards, Stefan

Posted on July 09, 2013 at 03:09Accoding to the IC datasheet, the number of bytes during a spi transfer can be 1 to 3 bytes, with a single chip select at the start..however, the sample code (for set/get parameters) calls easySPIN_Write_Byte for EVERY byte...  this would toggle chip select for every byte, rather than at the start and finish of a multibyte transfer.   Am I missing something obvious?

Posted on July 30, 2013 at 09:56I used VIPer53 in my product,I found that some of them entered into overheat （about 65℃） protection mode after running 70~180 mins at out power was 17W, and my design output power is 30W at Vin=220Vac. Change another VIPer53 the circuit can work very well.We use viper53, about 4 years, there has been no problem.However, starting in April, chip has not work properly. We compared the difference between old and new chips.Find chip printing appear to change.the old chip( ''ST@    CHN'')has a space between ''ST''mark and ''CHN''.but the new chip don't have the space.The VIPer53 with something wrong need more 4~5 Watts than the one without problem at the same output load.

Posted on July 19, 2013 at 06:33Hello...I want to chop the DC so that 585VDC into 400VDC. I dont know How to Connect the gate of IGBT w.r.t Emitter. Because Emitter here is not at zero or Grounded, Its floating. The ground of Microcontroller connection should NOT be mixed with the high voltage section. Suggest me a circuit to Trigger the IGBT in this configuration. Triggering may be used with pulse transformer or GATE DRIVER from ST like L6390 or Opto-Coupler. I need a isolated Triggering from Microcontroller. #pulse-trans #floating-ground

I changed original MOSFET (eval6482h)  and now I use STP35NF10.My board work ok with default parameters.Im working in STEP_MODE with 1/8 microstep. Rsense = 0.1R / VS = 43VAt low revolution, torque is really great but I cant to get good torque (or similar at low speed) when my board is set at 260RPM for example.Question1: Predictive current control is working in step_mode ???Question2: Is possible to modify tcc,tdt,tblank registers to get better torque at high revolution?I checked setting board in full step. of course, torque is better but i cant to get a desired torque in high speed.Is very important to me solve this. I have a lot of machines waiting for this design.I have in mind, check all time step frequency and modify tval_hold in different speed and get equal torque in all range of my application.

The library takes care itself for the input for current (dual insulated current sensor), voltage, temperature, but it takes all the two ADC of the stm32f103 md chip. What i the most correct way to make an application that samples also some other slow-changing analog input? Maybe a potentiometer for the speed of a fan, an input for the internal/external temperature... Any help would be appreciated, thanks!! #motor-control-foc-library
