STM32 MCUs Motor control

I want to count the steps that the motor takes with DMA and when it reaches a certain number of steps, turn off the PWM timer. How do I read the incoming pulses?

Hello,I need a help in Motor frequency calculation with more precision. I am using STM32F070CB for my application. My requirements are1) Monitor the Motor frequency based on quadrature pulses.2) If Frequency varies by +/-15%, need to process some safety activity within 100 milli seconds.3) find the direction of rotation.Data: Motor nominal frequency is 100Hz ( when motor running at full speed)I have configured TIM3 in Encoder mode in such a way that counter counts in UP/DOWN based on the direction of the motor rotation. I have configured another general purpose timer (TIM6) for 50ms periodic Interrupt.My Idea is to read the Encoder counter value for every 50ms (in TIM6 interrupt) and clear the Encoder counter value. That is, (counter value / 50ms ) is the frequency.The problem here I am facing is, the calculated frequency is fluctuating ( 80Hz to 100Hz ) rarely which allow

Hi there :) I've recently got my hands on the IHM002 kit. I'm trying out MCSDK and the example project which comes with it,  "P-NUCLEO-IHM001 kit, 3-Shunt, Sensorless". I can get MCSDK to generate the code successfully but after flashing, the motor refuses to run.Using the MCSDK monitor, whenever I press the button to start the motor, I keep getting the errors, FOC Duration & Software Error.I've configured the jumpers accordingly, as per the pamphlet & user manual instructions.The initial firmware on the board and the binary from the X-CUBE-SPN7, which I believe is the 6-step algorithm implementation, works fine concluding that the board and motor are OK.Please help in getting my IHM002 kit running using the MCSDK 5.4.4.

Hi All,Using a 36V motor that is rated for peak of 20.5A. I always get an overcurrent fault on startup even though my current output is only 0.8A. Any guidance would be appreciated, and I am happy to provide more details if needed.Thanks,-Nick

Hi all,I am designing a motor controller board based on the B-G431B-ESC1 board.What are the requirements to be able to use the ST Motor Profiler on my custom board?Let's make the assumption that I am using the same schematics (same parts as the B-G431B-ESC1 board) but different layout.Is it sufficient to configure the board using the MotorControl Workbench 5.4.4 in order to be able to use the Motor Profiler?Best,Alessandro

Hi,I'm beggining with MCSDK.I load the example "EvalG474E_3Shunt_IHM23v3_HAL.stmcx" and the dialog box "Analog Input and Protection" configure the Sampling Time to 6.5 ADC clk resulting in 96nS. So the ADC clock is supose to be 6.5/96nS = 67.7MHZ. But the generated code shows ADC selected from PLLP with 42.5MHZ and with Async clock/4, so ADC clk = 42.5/4 = 10.625MHZ. And the generated code is imcomplete, there's nothing in the main loop, no interrupts, etc.Is there a complete motor control example for any G4 any driver that works? That I just need to compile and program into the flash.

I'm working on a project where I have to drive a brushless motor. I'm using a NUCLEOF302R8 + X-Nucleo IHM08M1 with STM32CubeExpansion_SPN8_V1.0.2. I can't control my engine because I don't know how to modify the parameters contained in the MC_SixStep_param.h file. Is there an application note explaining how these parameters affect?

Hello, I try to control a motor using STEVAL-SPIN3201, a hall sensor and a encoder (in position control). I compile the generated files (generated via ST motor control workbench) via make. In speed position based on hall-sensor, the compilation work and I'm able to control the motor without problem.Moreover, when I add auxiliary sensor (Main: encoder, aux: hall sensor) and I start the compilation, I a have a RAM overflow during linking (overflow of 8bytes). To add the sensor we have modified the board (remove potentiometer) but I cannot found the related option in ST motor control workbench. Do you know if adding a second sensor on STEVAL-SPIN3201 is possible and if yes what do I have to change to make it works?Thanks in advance

So meanwhile i figured out, what´s wrong (After around 30 hours of search...). But step by step: After many problems, importing the (actual) STSW-ROBOT-1 into cubeIDE and getting it to be built, i faced problems with unreliable position control, unexpected behaviour with torque regulation, unexpected moving motor and so on. Hello, I work on a STSPIN32F0B but a cannot find a way to configure it via ST motor control workbench software (STSPIN32F0B not present in MCU and Clock Frequency Selection window). I have found the STSPIN-3204 firmware package but I will use the STSPIN32F0B on a custom board and therefore it must be easily modified to correspond to our need. Is there a way to custom it easily like with ST motor control workbench.

I am designing a SiC inverter for a Formula SAE student team, using a 72MHz STM32F302CC with the motor control library. The desired switching frequency is 50-100kHz, depending on the device we select. Reading the motor control manual, I discovered that "the FOC loop is... executed at the PWM frequency rate (That is: once every PWM Period)." Will I encounter any issues with the complex FOC loop executing so quickly on a 72MHz processor? The only extra processing I plan on doing is some simple state machine logic, receiving torque command CAN messages and sending status CAN messages.I'm looking into using the STGAP1AS gate driver. Is 100kHz PWM output feasible considering reasonable parasitics? I understand that the typical MCU I/O pin capacitance is 5pF, the gate driver's input should be high impedance (but I can't figure that out from the datasheet), and the MCU and gate driver will reside relatively close on the same PCB.I am using an F302

Hi there,​1.My first question is about encoder index.​I know that encoder index(so called Z pulse) is applicable in G4 series. (RM0440 1,109 pages)​However I can't find that feature in any of H7 and F7 sereis.​2.I know that the maximum resolution of HRTIM in G4 is ​184 ps resolution. (RM0440 801 pages)​However, in H7 series such as H743, the maximum resolution is 2.1ns even though the clock of H7 is more faster than G4. (I found that the CKPSC[2:0] values from 000 to 100 are reserved in H7.)My project is motor control and DC/DC converter(up to 1MHz switching with duty control) and I considering to use m7 core because of computing power.Are the G4 series the best for my project or is there a more suitable one?​3.Similar question.What is the best MCU in ST that can be used for motor control and DC / DC converter control?My project require m
