STM32 MCUs Motor control

Dear members, I am using the NUCLEO-F303RE and X-NUCLEO-IHM08M1 boards. I have created a position control project which seems to work fine. At this stage I would like to introduce an ADC conversion, however I am able to request an ADC conversion but this never completes. Below is the code I have. Did anyone have a similar issue? Hello,I have a STEVAL-SPIN3201 board Rev 3.Try to use the flash procedure from document UM2152USB Connection to Windows 10 PC12V Power Supply to J2Flash drive shows up with two files Fail.txt and Details.txtI am able to delete the two files.Windows shows a free memory of 24kB.12kB are always used.Try to copy the SDK5x - STEVAL-SPIN3201 - BullRunning.bin example.Windows refuses to copy because of insufficient space.Is there any procedure to get the 12kB free?Thanks in advance and best regardsJens

Hi,finally I bought an evalkit-robot-1 to try the stspin32f0 and start working with the Mcsdk.I was able to compile the code on the st cube ide and program the controller with the stlink v3 and have the motor working using QModBus commands.Now I want to make a step further by changing the control strategy and recompiling the code.In particular I saw on another post that it is not possible change the control modality from position to speed or torque directly from the main but I need to change the control strategy in the workbench is it true? I tried to do that but obiuvsly the code is now not working and the motor is not anymore initialising. However, I don't know how to enable the debug with this system to see the variables or to printf some informations to debug the code. Can you suggest the best procedure ?Thank you in advance.

Hi I am trying to generate pwm on the stm32f411re using LL drivers . i am using a Vnh2spa30 motor driver, i am using the setcompare() and generateupdate() commands. I am trying to use the Timer2 ch1 on pa15. I have configured the timer to internal clock. I am using a prescalar of 8399 and ARR of 99. my main problem is that no matter what argument i pass (except 0) in the setcompare() my motor runs on full speed, unless i put a delay, the bigger the delay is the slower the motor rotatesi cant figure out where i am going wrong

Hi,I am using STM32f407 and I'm trying to measure angle of rotor using Hall sensors. HI,I'm using STM32f4 and I'm trying to calculate rotation speed using Hall sensors.Idea is to use TIM4 and 3 Hall sensors in 3 channels in caputre compare mode to calculate time between two edges. I know how to do that, but the problem is that I need information about the falling or rising edge to know on what angle is rotor.I need angle to calculate rotation speed, the difference between to captures will never be exactly 60 deegres. I' am also planing to do calibration of hall sensors to know angle precisely .So is it possible to detect rising/falling edge using timer or is there some other way to do it ?Thanks,Domagoj.

I want to use TIM4 for the encoder, but the ST Motor Control Workbench only allow this if I choose Three shunt current sensing. If I choose One shunt, TIM4 is no longer available for the Encoder interface. The encoder has no timing relations to either ADC sampling or pwm, so I cannot see why I shouldn't be able to use TIM4. I also tried to generate the code with TIM3 and replaced it afterwards, but I the ADC3 interrupt never executes. So I assume there may be some limitation but I cannot understand what...See attached screen dumps

Me and my team have been working for a while now on the Stm32 workbench. The Motor Profiler calculates the parameters for the motor, and are then they are imported to the workbench to generate code to TrueStudio IDE. We are facing some issues with driving the motor and have been following the instructions and steps in the "STM32 PMSM FOC SDK Frequently-asked questions (FAQ)" pdf found below, but the same problems are still occurring and no change at all in the motor behaviour.Problems occuring are:1. In the Motor Profiler Software, the motor does not stabilize at the low RPM below 1000 - 1200 RPM, but at higher RPM the motor stabilizes. 2. In TrueStudio the motor works for a few seconds and then stops immediately while the rest of the code works normally. As if the pwm breaks, the Methods used in the TrueStudio code are  MC_ProgramSpeedRampMotor1( 1000, 500 );MC_StartMotor1();Motors used: 

I tried two 6-step drive examples that come with MC WorkBench and could not make either of them to run a motor. First, I tried "Six-Step drive with NUCLEO-G431RB, IHM08M1 and Shinano motor". I did not have Shinano motor. A motor I have is very similar but not the same so I thought it maybe causing a problem. My motor would not spin and a power supply would hit a current limit. Second, I tried "Six-Step drive with NUCLEO-G431RB, IHM07M1 and BullRunnig motor" for which I have the required motor. The motor would ramp up and stop. Since I can't step thru the code when a motor is spinning I put break points at different places. I found a place where it goes in MC_LF_TIMER_FAILURE state. In the file 6step_core.c, function MC_Core_NextStep (line 897) it looks to me like a Catch22 - see the image below.

I am working on a 2-axis CNC machine using an STM32F103C8T6 and using the HAL libraries. I've setup a seperate timer for each axis of the machine and have those configured in PWM mode. As I understand it, when using BEMF feedback, the BEMF from a phase is compared to the "center tap" voltage and the output is used to capture a timer's count. This count is used to determine when to commutate the motor.The comparator output is noisy, so, windowing is used to detect the transition. Essentially, the comparator signal is sensed during a portion of the PWM cycle - away from the switching edge.Has anyone implemented this on an ST part using the HRTIM? If so, can you share details around what you did and how you configured the HRTIM?If you haven't done this using the HRTIM, what about the other ST timers? If so, can you share details on how you did this?Thanks.

Hi, I would like to ask how to turn on low side pwm during idle state ?I use workbench (5.3.2) to change "Low side PWM idle state" from "Turn-off" to "Turn-on"After generating code , i will get compiler error as the following #error "Error: LOW_SIDE_IDLE_STATE in driver_parameters.h must be false (TURN_OFF)."Does it means that i need to add the following in driver_parameters.h#define LOW_SIDE_IDLE_STATE falseand mark #error "Error: LOW_SIDE_IDLE_STATE in driver_parameters.h must be false (TURN_OFF)." in parameters_conversion_f30x.h

I am working with ST-MotorControl Workbench. I generate the project according to 72 Mhz clock with WorkBench. I can't choose 56MHz through WorkBench. So, I re-generate project for 56 MHz with CUBEIDE. And than, I edit the code (picture). Is there any detail I need to consider when doing this editing process ?

I am having trobule getting a custom motor control board to work. The design of the custom board is really close to the STEVAL SPIN 3201. So it uses the STSPIN32F0 and is supplied with 24V.When I start the motor and ramp up to the point where the board draws around 10A from the voltage source - a speed feedback or under voltage fault occurs or the mcu gets shorted (no smoke or any visible signs).I noticed that going up in speed the MC Workbench Monitor shows that the board detects lower bus voltage than the supply voltage (which stays constant during motor Operation at 24V) so that eventually an under voltage fault may occur if there is no speed feedback fault before..On two boards the MCU got shorted (VDD connected to GND) after running the motor a few times.Currently I have no idea what could cause the sensed voltage to be too low and the shortage in the MCU. Hi, I am trying to implement simple six step motor control using the STEVAL-STSPIN3201 board. However in order to do this I need to be able to switch off both the high and low side MOSFETS in one of the three phases U,V or W. For example for the first commutation I need HSU to be on, LSV to be on while HSW and LSW need to be off, so that only the coils from U to V conduct. However I am running into a problem where I can't switch off both HSW and LSW simultaneously, the outputs from these pins are always complementary. I have tried configuring them as GPIO pins, with pulldown set to low and I still can't get for example HSW & LSW, HSV & LSV, HSU & LSU low simultaneously. Any help to achieve this is appreciated.

I try to understand why the TIM3 become unavailable for sensor configuration when we select the 1-shunt topology for current sensing. Is that a limitation of the stspin32f0x or a limitation of the motor control workbench software?

HiI'm Shundai.I bought a B-G431b-ESC1 and connected BLDCmotor and DC12VUsing the board, I want to know how to drive a BLDCmotor by 3-shunt resister or 1-shunt ( nothing positioning sensor(HALL, ENCODER) and 3-Phase CT sensor ) .I will modify the circuite of between 3-shunt terminal because This board doesn't support a 1-shunt sensing.Please teach me how to drive these method.Thank you.
