STM32 MCUs Software development tools

I am programming a microcontroller that will be in space flight. Currently to test the device we send the firmware to the board using something like the STM32CubeIDE or the stlink software. This works for now and allows us to run our code, but in flight, we can't use a cable and computer to upload the code and run it, we need the code to be on the board (in flash memory I assume), and we need to be able to execute it via UART commands from a computer on board the spacecraft. I am using an STM32F051R8. Any ideas?

I want to follow the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eg_GLvLHM1o&ab_channel=STMicroelectronics) to set up the SWV Viewer, but I am not able to configure the debug configuration, as it is grayed out (like in the picture) and then also the configuration in the SWV Viewers does not appear.I am using the following system: CubeMX v6.6.0CubeIDE v1.10.0STM32Cube FW_G0 v1.5.0Chip STM32G0xxDoes my chip even support this feature or why is it grayed out?

We're working on a projekt with different µC and some so called "Common-Modules".These commons are located side by side our projects and shall simply been linked to these. All this could be done, but on building the project, we noticed, that no modules were built, if the include pathes were relative to the project file. Only if the path is given as an absolute path (for example like "C:\work\thiswork\module1\...") the compilation will be successfull.As the projects will be built local and on a remote server too, absolute paths are no choice for us.Are there any solutions to solve this?Best Regards

I am trying to perform ADC whenever external interrupt signal is given. Because I have to perform ADC multiple times (= interrupt signal will come multiple times), I enabled DMA continuous requests option for ADC and enabled Continuous Conversion Mode. However, when I enable this option, the ADC sampling rate seems to depend on the number of ADC samples (buffer size) assigned to each ADC. When I disable DMA continuous request and enable only Continuous Conversion Mode, the sampling rate remains the same.Is this normal? If so, how do we calculate ADC sampling rate under Continuous Conversion Mode enabled? Here, I mean that ADC sampling rate is the number of ADC samples obtained per second.Below figures show the ADC parameters that I use. ADC is done under dual regular simultaneous mode and PCLK2 = 108 MHz.

I am using the STM32F746VET6 and the HAL packaged with v6.5.0 of STM32CubeMX. It is operating as a slave with a Raspberry Pi as a master. When inspecting my SPI communication I was surprised to sometimes see bytes being transmitted on MISO when HAL_SPI_Receive_DMA() was being called. I *usually* don't see anything being transmitted, but sometimes I do and it's the same byte repeated over and over again. It doesn't seem that the MISO behavior when calling HAL_SPI_Receive_DMA() is specified for the HAL, but I'd expect the line to be low when receiving only.

When the SysTick interrupt fires the debugger quits. I cannot figure out where the NVIC_SetVector statement is for the SysTick. I think it is not set. But I can not find the vector table in the debugger to know for sure. This used to work, But when I updated to the 1.10.1 IDE and 6.6.1-RC2 Build.20220706-1420. It crashes when the systick interrupt happens. I am using the STM32G051K8T

After I search this problem on Google, I find alot of people face the same problem as me, and those solution did not really work for me.Yes, I know the workaround by manual download the Zip then parse into %UserProfile%\STM32Cube\Repository, but the IDE should working out of the box is't it ?So after I trying to find the solution and reinstall the IDE multiple time, I notice something glitchy.By the newly install, if I generate STM32F4*'s code I have to download 3 files (stm32cube_fw_f4_v1240.zip, stm32cube_fw_f4_v1241.zip, stm32cube_fw_f4_v1242.zip) on the first run it stuck at stm32cube_fw_f4_v1240.zip (Problem during downlad) then I generate the code again, and stuck on stm32cube_fw_f4_v1241 with the same error message for couple times and stm32cube_fw_f4_v1242.zip before everything success(I'm pretty sure my internet is working find, and disabled my antivirus Kaspersky)I know this problem occurred on new user only, but that

Assume for a moment that I want to use LwIP with an RTOS, I have to set NO_SYS = 0. But you can't do that unless you enable FreeRTOS. But I want to use a different RTOS, not FreeRTOS.Enable FreeRTOS and you get to set NO_SYS = 0, but you also get the FreeRTOS cruft.Is there any way to get around this?I suppose I will just avoid LwIP from within CubeMX and pull it down from the LwIP repo...

Does somebody can provide a cubeMX generated file with working ethernet and freeRtos?? Is it even possible? I know there is a working example application but it is not from CubeMX. Using the new HAL eth driver from the F7 package I am not able to even get a ping reply..Thanks all

Hi,i try to write the OTP area lock bytes using the ST-LINK/V2 programmer with the ST STM_Programmer_CLI tool included in the STM32CubeProgrammer software package.I can successfully write to the OTP area blocks using the -w32 command but if i try to also write the according Lock byte it will fail with the following error message:Command: STM32_Programmer_CLI.exe -c port=SWD -w32 0x1FFF7AC 0xFFFFFF00Error: Failed to download data!If it's a Flash memory, it may be not erased or protectedAny idea why the write fails for the Lock bytes while OTP blocks are successfully written ?

Hi community, Please provide me with a working example with CubeIDE Version: 1.10.0 and STM32CubeF4 Firmware Package V1.27.0 which contains both FreeRTOS and FATfs.The DMA handling seems buggy after several releases and none of the fixes mentioned in other posts work for me.

Sometimes I end up working on multiple branches of a project (ain't life fun!).With STM32CubeIDE it seems if I rename the project folder Project Project_Main Project_BranchXThen the Sources paths defined in the project are broken/lost, and any excludes in those sources folders are lost (The sources folders in project tree are empty). Is there a way to define custom sources folders such that they aren't lost/broken if project folder is renamed? (i.e. relative paths or similar)Using: Win10, STM32CubeIDEv1.10.1Paul

I saw __heapstats() that for ARM compiler and backtrace(). Theoretically using gcc the backtrace function should be available including <execinfo.h> but this generate an build error.Does someone have suggestions?Thank youMarco

Hi. I am working on a battery operated project using STM32L031 microcontroller. I am using 32 MHz clock for normal operation. But if I use same clock in low power mode then it consumes current of about 2.7mA. But for higher battery life, current consumption should be minimum. So I tried running controller at 2MHz and the current consumption was found to be around 350uA in low power mode.So I was thinking of using 32MHz for normal operation and when entering low power mode, drop that clock frequency to 2 MHz. And when exiting low power mode, clock frequency should be again switched to 32MHz.My UART (with DMA) is always active since whenever I receive data, I come out of low power mode. My baud rate is 115200 and hence I cant go below 2MHz clock frequency.So how can I implement this operation of changing clock frequency from low to high and vice versa?Regards,noobmaster69

Hi. I am using STM23L031 for a battery operated product. The expected life cycle is almost 1 year so I need to save battery as much as possible. So I wanted to use Low power sleep mode when not doing anything(I chose this because I need DMA for UART which is always ON since I receive data over UART). Also I have 3 input interrupts over GPIO pins.Basically, when I am in run mode, I want to run the controller at 32MHz (even after exiting low power mode, I want to switch the frequency to 32MHz).So, when entering Low power sleep mode I did this as per the datasheet:Switch OFF flash memory.Configure clock for 131kHz.Put voltage reguator in low power mode.Clear SLEEPDEEP bit(since entering sleep mode).Enter low power mode using WFI.But when I exit from Low power mode, I get Hard Fault.Any reason why this is happening? And how to overcome this problem?Here is my main(

Code runs fine and decodes USART1 when the STM32G0B1KC boots up and then the external serial data starts transmitting. When the external transmission (38400Bd) is starting while the micro is booting up the Rx interrupt hangs after the first character is received.Rebooting the micro after the receiver hangs often restores functionality even when the external data stream continues. But that is a poor way of recovering, I would rather resolve the underlying problem.A little tricky to debug because of the timing. Everything is setup on STMCubeIDE using the HAL libraries. Has anyone seen similar behaviour before?Happy to post some code snippets if needed, the whole receiver code is a bit long though.Regards,Peter
