STM32 MCUs Software development tools

Using STM32CubeIDE on macos (with STM32H7431VITx, FWIW), the Debug Console has a pretty poor interface, where there's no readline support and even basic things like "arrow up" to recall the latest  command doesn't work, rather it moves the cursor up in the text. Gdb's output is black, the text I type is green and when executing a command, it gets echoed in red to the console. A while back I ran the same version on macos and Linux; on Linux on it was providing a full terminal with readline support, as you'd expect, but on macos it was like this and it hasn't improved in the intervening years. Is there some setting that I can enabled to make it a proper terminal with readline support and all on macos?Version: 2.0.0Build: 26820_20251114_1348 (UTC)sample screenshot below:

For users having / wanting / needing their own VSCode C++ setup it would be very beneficial to have the STM32 debugging VSCode extensions not rely on the rest of the STM32 Cube extensions.Neither do I want nor do I need all of the bundle management, CMake replacement, code analysis and what not stuff the VSCode extensions are doing.Currently, st-cube-ide-stlink-gdbserver, st-cube-ide-debug-generic-gdbserver, st-cube-ide-debug-core (whatever I would really need) pull in the Core and, especially annoying and not really understandable for me, the CMake Support extension.I'd appreciate to have a debugging support extension that works well with any build + edit setup, just like cortex-debug.

Hello,   I would like to learn if there is an easy way in STM32CubeMX2 to start a new project with an existing ioc2 file. It seems that the only way I can do this is make a copy of the ioc2 file, do a text find and replace for the name of the project and reopen the project in MX2. In essence, I like to start a project from a working ioc2 configuration and modify it to work on a fork of the project. I have created a project for the STM32WL33 several weeks ago, using the DEEPSTOP mode with context restoration provided by ST. Even if there are some pitfalls with this the project worked mostly fine. In CubeMX Version 6.17.0, for STM32G474RET6, HRTIM1, TIMA output2 configuration, set sources is forced to 0 cannot be changed to 1 and it is showing "Set Sources: nothing to set as Dead Time is enabled, Output2 signal is defined based on Output1 Configuration Set Sources" even if Dead time is kept disabled. This issue was not present on previous versions of CubeMX.

Hi, everyone.I'm trying to configure I2S in a STM32H523CET. I'd like to activate MCLK signal, but I can't find how. I'd also like activate external clock input for I2s (AUDIOCLK signal). The CubeMX says:"Audio Clock Input is not available.To enable it, one of the following RCC Mode(s) or IP(s) have to be configured from the Pinout TAb:-EnableExtClockForSAI1"But again, I can't find where to activate that. 

Hello,I was working with STM32CubeIDE version 1.8.0 on a project. I just download version 1.9.0, trying to import the project.In the importation Wizard, when selecting the correct directory, the project name is displayed, but when clicking "Finish", the importation window close, and nothing append.Is this a known issue? Hello,I'm trying to start using STM32CubeIDE for VS Code 3.7.0I have tried to follow the instructions to set up an example project via STM32CubeMX and those to setup an empty project.In both cases I end up with an apparently unconfigurable project, seeing just this:Clicking on "Configure" does not result in a change.Just trying to build the project anyway results in CMake telling me that it cannot find the C Compiler. Any hint welcome.Many thanks,Titus   

Hi ST,I understand that CubeIDE (clang-based) code-completion cannot coexist with Microsoft C++ IntelliSense. However, it seems that once IntelliSense is disabled (which is presented as the default option), it also stops working for other non-STM32 C++ projects permanently.I wasn’t able to figure out how to re-enable it, disabling Cube IDE extension was not helpful. After about 30 minutes of trying, I ended up reinstalling VS Code- which probably isn’t the best or recommended solution.Moreover, it looks like Cube IDE extension modifies default use settings. Even after disabling Cube IDE extension code colors look much different than originally, and code formatting does not work.What is the proper way to handle this situation? I really would like to use Cube IDE extension but only occasionally.Please do not alter my default VS code settings for C/C++!Thanks,Thomas

STM32CubeMX 6.17.0 STM32CubeCLT 1.21.0 which provides GNU Tools for STM32 which provides a toolchain with GCC 14.3 and newlib 4.5.0. STM32CubeH5 1.6.0 (as downloaded by STM32CubeMX) STM32H563   With these tools, you can easily generate a project which uses ThreadX as RTOS and NetX Duo as network stack by point and click in STM32CubeMX. In this case, the project is generated to use CMake and the GCC toolchain. NetX Duo requires some random numbers even for non-cryptography use cases. Good morning everyone,i am having a problem after i copied the example from the example project folder to another location.i am using STM32CubeIDE 1.5.0. i opened this project C:\Users\Admin11\STM32Cube\Repository\STM32Cube_FW_WB_V1.16.0\Projects\P-NUCLEO-WB55.Nucleo\Applications\BLE_LLD\BLE_LLD_Chat\STM32CubeIDE i build it, ran it, without any issue. the board worked correctly as it should. However, when i copied the said folder "STM32CubeIDE" to my desktop to make some changes according to my requirements, i opened a new instance of IDE, chose a different workspace, chose the project on my desktop C:\Users\Admin11\Desktop\NewFolder\STM32CubeIDEclicked build, i got this error

I have a STM32N6570-DK and i can't seem to program it any more.  I tried it in both the STM32 programmer gui and terminal application.  So i can connect to the device read and read the flash but i can't seem to write to it any more.  I can't even erase the flash.  I have another  Boot 0 = 0 (L)Boot 1 = 1 (H)

Hello, I used MX2 for the last two weeks and it is a great improvement over MX. I build many small projects with it and I am constantly running into a problem related to timer configuration. I enter the values for the Prescaler and the Counter period as Integers and unfortunately when I close the project and reopen MX2 converts the value to Hex (and indicates that it is a Hex value). I keep forgetting that MX2 does this and I enter a new value as an Int thinking that my selection was sticky. Could you make the Int/Hex selection sticky? It's a small issue but it will save developers some trouble. Thank you,Gil 

CubeMX 6.17. When creating a new project for H533RETx or for the corresponding Nucleo-H533, SYSCLK is set at 32 MHz.Not sure whether or not it is intended, but it looks like a trap for a new user, since the MCU datasheet talks about 250 MHz.Instead, example projects for Nucleo-H533 (at least the couple that I've seen) quite reasonably run the MCU at 250 MHz, driven from the crystal present on the board.

Dear,When running the FSBL that includes HAL XSPI initialization logic on the Nucleo-N657X0-Q board (MB1940-N657X0Q-C02), the flash erase with the STM32CubeProgrammmer v2.22 sometimes fails. However, if I leave out the XSPI initialization logic for accessing the NOR flash, flash erase always succeeds. BOOT pin 1 is set to DEV and I am loading the FSBL firmware directly into RAM.Do you have any idea why XSPI Init causes the flash erase to fail ?BR,EdwinD 

Hi, I've just installed v2.14.0 for the first time, but it will not start up. All I get is the blue STM screen for a few second, then it disappears. I tried the command prompt start up detailed in This Post but I end up with an error message, shown below. I need help on how to proceed as I do not have JRE installed on my PC, but have had it in the past.
