STM32 MCUs Software development tools

There are STM32 models, where the suffix denotes a dramatic difference in the chip's pinout - either because of the USB-C PD -related variants, or because of SMPS variants. As the suffix is beyond the "lesser" parts of marking such as temperature range, sometimes distributors and vendors neglect/omit it, resulting in non-functioning products and frustration.For these models, CubeProgrammer should display the suffix along with the model number; it even should display something like "no suffix" for the variant without suffix, to be explicitly clear about this.This requirement stems from experiences like in this thread.JW

I'm trying to generate code using CubeMX for the Nucleo-U031R8 demo board to output a clock signal to the MCO2 pin. But the generated MX_GPIO_Init function makes the following assignment:GPIO_InitStruct.Alternate = GPIO_AF0_TRACE;Naturally, the compiler throws an error: "GPIO_AF0_TRACE undeclared".If I manually change the code to the following:GPIO_InitStruct.Alternate = GPIO_AF0_MCO2;...the code compiles without errors.Is it possible to fix this bug in the next CubeMX release?

Hi! I am working on creating a new build system for my for a software platform using CMake to help with management of different targets and toolchains. I have an .ioc file that is currently in use with the existing build system based on CubeIDE that contains all middleware (FreeRTOS, LwIP, TouchGFX) additions and configurations, so I am not changing anything. I am trying to make the build as modular as possible so I am trying to link the stm32cubemx and touchgfx CMake targets directly. I am using build presets to manage configuration. Creating the build system works fine, but when I try to run the build I get compilation errors because the TouchGFX related files can't find the user constants defined in CubeMX for TouchGFX, as shown below: 

Hi everyone,I'm working on a power conversion project using the STEVAL-7BIDIRCB reference design.The firmware uses a specific static library: DPC_AverageCurrentCtrl_IAR.a. As the name suggests, it was compiled with IAR EWARM. However, I would like to use VS Code and CMake for my development environment instead of the IAR IDE.A few questions:Is this specific library compatible with the arm-none-eabi-gcc linker in a CMake setup, or will I face ABI/runtime issues (especially regarding FPU and math functions)?If I use the IAR Build Tools (compiler/linker) through CMake in VS Code, will it work seamlessly with this .a file?Is there a GCC version of this library available for the STEVAL-7BIDIRCB, or are the sources available somewhere to recompile it for GCC?The control loop is obviously critical for this board, so I want to make sure I don't introduce any instability by mixing toolchains.Thanks for your help!

Hi,When opening a CubeMX-generated project in VS Code for the first time, a popup appears that—according to ST’s tutorial—you’re supposed to confirm by selecting “Yes”.Unfortunately, the popup disappeared after a few seconds before I could click it. I’ve tried reopening both VS Code and the project, but it hasn’t appeared again.How can I bring this popup back, or trigger the same setup manually?Thank you  

 

Hello,I had windows 10 and the CubeProgrammer was without problems.Now, on this PC with new windows 11 when I try to open file (hex, srec) in Erase & Programming  with Browse then a new windows is opening and after I can't choice my file and STM32CubeProgrmmer is closed.I tryed in administrator excecution but the problem is always.I looked this problem on all the windows with open file. Could you help me , please?Best regards  

Hi,Within VSCODE terminal my ninja build (from MX cmake project) will run just great.   But in the Winwows CLI I get 'cube-cmake '  is not recognised.....When I add %USERPROFILE%/.vscode/extensions/stmicroelectronics.stm32cube-ide-build-cmake-1.43.0/resources/cube-cmake/win32 to the PATH, windows says ''cube' command is not available in current context'I'm looking for some clues to understand the issue a bit better!Thanks in advance,Nick 

I'm migrating from Windows to Linux (Ubuntu 22.04) as my main OS, and I'm setting up the STM32CubeIDE for development.  I noticed that the Linux install of STM32CubeIDE (v2.0.0 downloaded from this site) is missing almost all of the ST specific features that make using the IDE worth it for me.  Is there a reason for this?  Is there a way to install these after the fact?The ST specific features I'm speaking of are the integration of STM32CubeMX and ability to generate all the initialization code for the various peripherals that I'm looking to use.   Specifically: I'm looking for the Linux install to have an option of File > New > STM32 Project, which then gives me the option to select a board (Nucleo, etc.) or a bare MCU (STM32U575xxx, etc). It then generates a .ioc file and eventually generates the code.  

When I open STM32CubeProgrammer (v2.21.0) it displays an error modal "Old ST-LINK firmware version. Upgrade ST-LINK firmware. If I click the "Firmware Upgrade" button an STLinkUpgrade 3.16.8 shows up with Current firmware: (blank)Type: (blank)Version: UnknownUpdate to Firmware: Unknown.The upgrade button does nothing when clicked. I bought the STM32H7 dual-core EVAL board STM32H757I-EVAL and started with TouchGFX. I created some first buttons in TouchGFX Designer and flashed them to the board — that part works fine and runs without issues.Now I want to continue programming in STM32CubeIDE, but I cannot start the CM7 debug session. CubeIDE shows:“Launching STM32H747I-EVAL_CM7 Debug has encountered a problem”“Failed to execute MI command: load …\STM32H747I-EVAL_CM7.elf”“Error message from debugger back end: Load failed”The M4 upload/flash finishes without any error message, but it looks like the M4 application does not run. Hi, I'm developing a project for STM32N657X0HxQ MCU and I need to run a NN model on it. I installed the 10.2.0 package for X-CUBE-AI and I've selected Core for Artificial Intelligence X-CUBE-AI in the Software Packs component selector. However, whatever Device Application I select, I always get when I'm on the Configuration Tab in Pinout & Configuration "Warning: This peripheral has no parameters to be configured" and I cannot upload my NN model, even when Artificial Intelligence X-CUCE-AI checkbox has been selected.I'm using the 6.16.1 Version of STM32CubeMX.Thank you for the cooperation

When creating a new CMake-based project in STM32CubeMX, the "Toolchain Folder Location" field is auto-populated with the project folder path upon entering a project name. This behaviour is misleading because the field is intended (at least by its description) to specify the location of the actual toolchain binaries (e.g., GCC ARM) and it is unlikely that a toolchain is installed in a specific project folder.I have tried to understand what this is by consulting the User Manual UM1718 Revision 49, and there were two references that matched the text "toolchain folder", both of which provided no helpful guidance on what this is actually used for.

HiMAC BOOK PRO is using apple silicon(arm), i downloaded STM32CubeCLT-mac, but it seems installation is not sucessful, maybe it because it's x86/amd64 version.Do ST have plan to release STM32CubeCLT apple silicon version? ThanksPeter

Hi,I have NUCLEO-U083RC-B01. I attached X-NUCLEO-IKS5A1 to it. All jumpers are in default positions.In STM32CubeMX I enabled I2C1 with default values. In the main program I am trying to check the device readiness for MEMS sensors on the X-NUCLEO-IKS5A1, e.g, ISM330IS. HAL_I2C_IsDeviceReady returns HAL_ERROR.I tried to set the I2C1 GPIO configuration Pull-up but no success. Hi, so the recent change to make CubeMX a separate app has broken my old project. I am using a Nucleo board and HAL in the project. After a change to the .IOC file I get "stm32h7xx_nucleo_conf.h:50: warning: "USE_NUCLEO_144" redefined". Is there a resource somewhere explaining to to do all of the after the CubeMX split? 

After generating C code for a CMake project, I'd like to use some existing code that I've developed elsewhere.Is there good information or guidance on how to do this properly?For example, should compile my code as a static library and bring it into my project? If so, what is the recommended way to do this (how do I ensure compatibility, etc)? Or should I just copy-paste the source code files and headers into the project?

Split from IDE Version 2.0.0 - why remove MX ? as this has nothing to do with that topicPinout view is bad also.In center of window useless hole with ST logo. Wastefull use of GUI area. 80% of area is gray hole in center or white hole at the borders.Much better to use table with pins info. Heyho,I had some really strange error, which went away when turning optimization from "fast" to "off".The function EthPhyInit() always returned 166 = 0xA6 - it should return "HAL_StatusTypeDef", something between 0 .. 3.So I changed all the return values to some integer between 1..8 to find out where things go wrong, then added the last line:uart_printf("EthPhyInit() good ->return 0\n\r");before returning 0 when all went well.Still, always got 166 back, even when I got "EthPhyInit() good ->return 0\n\r" on the terminal.Until I turned optimization OFF, now all is good.WTF is happening there?
